Pic of the day. In this Smash Bros. installment, this little guy is also making an appearance! I…don't know his name, but he's the Prince of the Sablé Kingdom. He's from the Game Boy game Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (translated as The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls), which was only released in Japan.

Here's the trophy of the Sablé Prince. He transforms into a snake or a frog, and unloads multiple attacks on any opponent he catches. Keep attacking your foes when they're trapped in his dust cloud.

The assist trophy choices really show that Sakurai was listening to some of the internet's character suggestions (Takumaru, Sable, Ashley and Dillion come to mind).

Midna and Dark Samus as well. Granted most kinda gave up on the dream for either of those two after Brawl.

I'm gonna throw this out and say I never really saw that many suggestions for Prince Sable, and only Takumaru recently since his game has been getting references in other games. I'm just surprised Sakurai's listened enough to even include them. To me, assist trophies are starting to look more like a way to still please people who wanted certain characters in the game.

There was some rumor (I'm sure it's fake) that the new Diddy Kong Racing game was going to feature a cast of secondary Nintendo characters to replace the likes of Conker and Banjo. Not sure it would fit with DKR, but I love whenever these lesser stars get the spotlight.

The prince's frog and snake forms couldn't attack in the Game Boy game, so I wonder what his Assist Trophy will do here. It would seem he'll transform, since his regular trophy represents all three forms.

Interesting...A few rumors early this year were alluding to Prince sable being in, which was completely random choice for a character, and now we have this.
Think its just a coincidence? probably.

They were rare, but they existed. And considering that this game is being made by the same guy who gave us Jigglypuff, Game & Watch and Wii Fit Trainer I don't consider anything completely off the table until it's certain.
