Mic is probably a factor because it's used to detect whether you screamed in pant shitting terror or not.

Which again makes me think bundled Kinect had lots of potential in the hands of creative developers.

Confirmed it.

If you're having trouble getting the 2nd giggle, park yourself in front of the phone, wait until the current haunting has ended if in progress. Pause. Go do something for 15 minutes.

Come back, unpause and during next or current haunting, giggles. Leave the controller alone while it rumbles and you can R3 when it rings.

YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN.

It's entirely possible you can sit there not touching your controller for that time and it'll happen, but then maybe you've got to listen out for the giggles and pay attention - much easier to not do that and be off being productive elsewhere.

Just had a 42 minute playthrough and 15-20 minutes of that was me eating ice cream, watching YT videos and drinking Yorkshire Tea.

Potential nobody's figured out better than the Milo demo. Most stuff either needs a regular mic or a controller for best results. Thus, Kinect is an occasional accessory, not a revolutionary and desirable controller.

Tried everything, all suggestions, so far I can't get a second giggle. I did get a white screen with English text before this part of the demo but didn't have time to capture it. Something about "I know you were going to play this game" that's all I remember though.

I really wanted to complete this before watching any walk throughs.

Dang it.

I've read the past five or six pages, and couldn't find the answer to my question, so I'm really sorry if this has been answered a million times but I think I'm super stuck., or I may need to start again.

I'm in the never-ending loop where you walk really fast, and it's super blurry / low shutter speed effect. It's all red lighting everywhere too. I've walked around forever, with a mic on, and feel like I'm missing something simple or need to restart. I can't hear any chimes or babies (the sink in the bathroom is empty now) and it's just a never ending loop with no beginning door and freaky eye pictures everywhere.

If anyone could help that'd be so awesome!

btw.. that baby giggle.. I am 100% sure I heard more than one version of it.. last night I heard the normal Giggle alot (never twice though).. but one time I also heard another strange baby giggle.. it was longer and it sounded alot happier than the normal one..and it was always the first giggle because last night I couldn´t make the baby giggle more than once..
has anyone heard the other kind of baby giggle aswell..?

and about that mic thing. I use the GOLD headset, but I have my MIC turned completely off. Last night I could not trigger the second giggle, no matter what I did..
But the night before, I messed around alot at the last puzzle, I did alot of stuff. I am 100% sure I heard the baby giggle more than once. My pad even rumbled at one point, but I just kept moving and missed the call.. lol. but that time I still had my mic off (the volume is completely turned down, so it should be off)..

strange game.

Look for a picture on the floor against the wall. There will be a hole in the wall above it. Press R3 to look into it.

You are not on the final loop yet, there is a hole in the wall where you can look into the bathroom, that will trigger the next step.

Btw, I managed to trigger the 2nd giggle last night with the mic, but I cannot do it right now, i've been trying for a while. Maybe you can only do it at night?

Thanks guys :)

I finally beat it and so I can remember it forever I uploaded it to twitch...only to find it muted. WAT. None of my videos have been muted and the one I really want does.

http://www.twitch.tv/sawyer316/c/4903553

I beat it by listening to you guys. You take 10 steps, baby giggle. Listen to where you hear her last crying and haunting. when music stops you go to that spot. When music comes back and you hear more noises start yelling or talking into your mic. Second baby giggle happens and you stay ABSOLUTE STILL. then virbartion and phone ring.

yes, sorry. Trying it again now one more time just to be sure.

EDIT: Yep, as soon as I came out of options menu after 15 mins the controller has a fit. If you CBA this way works 100%.

Yes, but not speaking, just background noise. Edited post above - it worked yet again this way, as soon as I came back out the controller vibrated as the next haunting began.

I wonder if it's possible to finish this without a mic. I'll wait another ten minutes and then try with the mic if it doesn't work.

Okay, so I'm not reading any of the previous comments yet, because I don't want to spoil anything, even if some people are using spoiler tags.

Anyways, I started this playable teaser yesterday morning and damn, even in broad daylight it managed to get me more than once.

I think I'm towards the end of the teaser (I assume), and I've been stuck for hours going in an endless loop. I'm too stubborn to look up hints to help myself, too...

Nothing seems to be happening anymore, to the point where I was starting to assume that this teaser didn't HAVE an actual ending, but it says in the OP that somebody "completed" it, and I'm guessing that's where the reveal video for the new Silent Hill came from.

I feel like I'm just walking through the same room, for hours, and the only thing that really changes anymore is that the flashlight may be a different color, or the alarm clock may be turned off. Oh and if I stand long enough, and a minute passes, the clock chimes, and that's usually when something might happen, such as running into the ghost that'll leap at you, or the one that'll "kill" you. There's also random text that flashes on screen when I zoom into certain things, and it resets if I exit out of the game so I'm thinking it's important, but I tried screen-capping and Google-translating it, and aside from "standing still", something about indexes and circles, and night fog, I couldn't really make much out of it.

So I'm currently stuck. I've examined just about everything, or so it feels like, and I've tried pressing different buttons here and there but it seems the only thing you can really do is hold R3 to zoom into stuff. I started thinking maybe the picture of the couple that says "Gouge it out!" with a blue X means you have to press X somewhere (since the X button is blue, right?) but I didn't get anywhere with that either. I've examined the text on the wall by the coat stand, along with the text on a ripped photo by the alarm clock, and I've turned around and had the paper bag talk to me in the empty room after getting "killed" and respawning... Whatever the solution to this puzzle is, it's gotta be really abstract or obscure, something incredibly specific and not obvious in the slightest.

In general, the teaser was really enjoyable up to the "end" part, and it's got me excited thinking about the possibilities and experiences they could create in a full game. I'll probably go back to the teaser sometime today and try and see if I can progress any further.

Fake edit: I'm seeing a mic mentioned in the comments above me, which has now gotten me thinking that I'm completely outta luck on this one.

I just finished it as well, after playing all day, using the following hints from the great people here at GAF (also, I did not have the mic plugged in all day but after plugging in the mic, did not really say anything, after 2 loop restarts, it worked):

1. Chimes, 10 steps, first laugh
2. Paused during first haunting, at phone, saw ghost in hallway between restroom and radio but did I not move. Ghost did not possess me. Nothing
3. Paused during second haunting, at door during the loop start, facing clock/phone, no ghost but stood still until haunt was over. Nothing.
4. Paused during third haunting, at door near radio leading down to steps, facing the hallway leading to phone, no ghost seen but second laugh. Then controller vibration. Then third laugh, and then the phone ring. I did not move at any point during this third haunting.
5. As soon as the third haunt was over, phone still ringing, went down the hallway, R3'd the phone and got the ending.

Overall structure the same as other people but still felt really random to me when trying to get the second/third laugh.

Again, many thanks to all those that figured it out to this point and good luck to everyone else still trying.

This sorta worked for me. I did the ten step thing and that works fine. The first haunting was underway by the time I got the first laugh and I found the ghost waiting in the doorway to the loop. I waited until it disappeared and the music stopped and waited there, facing the radio. Through the next haunting I waited and nothing happened, I had music on and also cursed that nothing happened. Some kind of weird German? Russian? Voice the. Said something but no laugh. After the haunting I went back to the phone and waited as the next haunting happened and I got thE second laugh. I then stood still and the controller started vibrating and I stood still and I got the third laugh and then he phone rang.

I'm not sure what I did exactly for the second laugh but the other two steps worked.

Thanks again guys, I just made it through.

P.T.-Gaf you amaze me in how you worked it all out.

As for the teaser itself, I'm kind of left speechless. It's amazing in so many ways, it also managed to scare the pants off me.

I only wish I didn't know what it was before finishing it, seeing Kojima's name after playing through THAT, my mind would have been blown.

This is the first horror game that really creeped me out. I cannot remember being that scared by any medium in a long time. I actually got goosebumps all over. I screamed. The developers really nailed it.

I had the same thing happen. Slender Woman or something sneaked up on me, when you're at the point where you got the flashlight and the radio starts running again, and tells you not to touch the dial yet, and some 2048... number or something.

When she got to me it seemed to put me back to the beginning room but I came out into the same loop, but now I turned off because it scared the shit out of me!

Is it supposed to happen, or is there away to avoid that creepy woman?

God I wish I had a PS4 now.

Just looking at videos have managed to unnerve and creep me out, this has never happened with any other horror game.

P.T. is really something else, I haven't been scared by movies/games/etc in years and P.T. finally managed to do it and I wasn't even playing it. It's truly genius horror design.

I played through both Amnesia games and this game creeps me out at least to the same extent. I can only imagine how fucking terrifying the whole thing must be if it's like this playable teaser.

I agree. This closest game I can think of being this creepy was Outlast, but honestly I think Outlast was more on the disturbing side than creepy side.

Had anyone got a video of the "10 steps" thing to get the initial laugh? I've now heard tons of people mention it but just want to see it in action before I try again tonight.

I managed to get the second giggle once more, but I'm still not sure what is the exact process. I'm chasing the ghost, staying in its place and saying things on the mic but I can't seem to get it. I randomly got it when I looked inside the bathroom, turn around and went back to look.

Are we supposed to press R3?

so how does that work... how to beat the last puzzle?

So I had no clue there was a puzzle to it and just kept going through the same loop my first few playthroughs. I still can't finish
without that freaking ghost lady scaring the s#$t out of me and eating me.

Ehmmm what did I do.

In the Final loop I just didn't get possessed by the freaky ghost and walked around when it was quiet looking at things. Then I got my first baby giggle.

(plugged in headphones)

Then I saw her freaking out in the bathroom (not the mirror) and I waited till the music was over. I stood on her spot and kept my mouth shut.

When the music came back up again I kept my distance from her and started swearing at her and that did the trick for me. I got my second giggle.

I walked to the phone, felt my controller rumble and it started ringing whilst R3-ing.

I went to the cellar door after I heard the voice and it shows you a little clip :)

Do nothing on 2nd giggle, keep still, wait for vibrate and keep still some more until 3rd giggle then when phone rings, go to it and zoom in on it.

Okay now, aside from figuring out how to complete it, does anyone have a full list of all the random scene triggers in the final loop?

I actually found all the picture fragments to complete the photo. But that didn't seem to add anything extra.

I'm convinced you can only see the ghost waifu three times to reach a maximum level of "possession" and what that means, from what I gather, is that her croaking will ever be present, and if you have surround sound, she sounds like she's behind you... at all times (and only when you stop moving).

I got the ghost waifu three times in the hallway, once in front of the washroom door, once near the hallway where you start, and once when I turned a corner and she immediately rushed at me.

She's also in the mirror, and she's behind the window by the phone. There's a ghostly boy watching you from the second floor. So that's about 2 or 3 triggers more to be possessed?

People have also reported the clock being turned off at one point. Some people even managed to get coloured flashlights (red and yellow, so far). How do we get 100% of all the goodies this demo has to offer? :p

it is random I completed the final the only consistant thing is baby crys you need 2 and then a final during ds4 rumble. My solution was way different leading up to crys first off I walked down the final stairs backwards then looped which turns on the light in the foyer; after that I returned and waiting for midnight and talking a lot on mic just incase that holds true. I did the steps no cry; I did the objects no cry, spoke to baby in bathroom, ran around like an idiot and zoomed on in objects and lisa near entry door haunt and stood in her position after she left not moving but talked... nothing. Almost giving up I headed for the loop door but on the way Lisa appeared in the furtherest back position near the radio; I teased her as I was getting annoyed with the tedious methods and said her name often (just incase it picks up on key words like automated phone systems) still nothing so I thought heck I will loop again but go backwards down final stairs again just to see if it changes or keeps light on, as my foot hit the final step to the concrete I heard the baby laugh, so I walked toward him changing my mind about giving up (looping) and as I came closer I heard lisa in the shower about to spawn so I went in not facing the bath but the mirror and started saying "Lisa that is your baby" and stuff with her name and "baby" and she almost came all the way around me in the bathroom but didn't as I said baby for the last time I heard another laugh! this was my first time getting a second laugh (after about 6hrs trying) so I froze and sure enough vibrations started and then a 3rd cry... then the phone rang and the rest is history.

In short though it seems there is many triggers set in the hallway/rooms even just near the loop door as I found out too late and I think they are randomly picked each time. Maybe try walking down the stairs backwards and looping to get foyer light on and then try my method to see if the steps match but I wouldn't guarantee it works like that. (walking backwards down final stairs definitely turns light on for next loop though) Don't think there is a solid solution just look for triggers and baby laughs, trial and error. The mic stuff and objects are solid theories but are not water tight imo.

Also sorry this is messy and poorly written I am lacking sleep due to this damn teaser; going slightly mad.

Are we supposed to press R3?

1. Start a new loop and immediately walk to the radio. Stare at it and don't look elsewhere. (not sure if you have to actually stare at the radio or not, might just be standing in this spot counts)
2. Once the bell finishes ringing and the ghost disappears (along with the music), immediately walk to the phone. About 80% of the time, you should get your first giggle.
3. Start speaking into the mic. I started repeating the sentences off the walls, saying "Lisalisalisalisa", "Heeeeeellllloooooo", etc. Eventually you'll get your second giggle.
4. At this point your controller will begin vibrating, DO NOT MOVE. If at any point the vibration stops, you screwed up and will have to start over. The controller will continue to slowly vibrate until the phone rings.
5. Zoom in on the phone with R3.

Several times I mistakenly assumed that the phone would ring the minute your controller begins vibrating, and moved and had to start over. So stand still, ignore the ghost and let your controller vibrate until the phone rings.

Also if you're like me and hate jump scares, just immediately get "attacked" and get it over with. That way you won't have to worry about it happening in the middle of a successful loop.
