Is Gauntlet looking good at all? Not sure whether to look forward to it or not, used to play the arcade version(well, a few of them) all the time growing up.

Having so many issues of the Backup procedure hanging after it's completed everything or sooner :|

Just breaking my backup into smaller chunks so I don't have to try again after 4 hours of making files.

I think it looks pretty by the numbers and not really a "gauntlet" game. It might still be ok, but I wouldn't be too keen to jump in early.

i'm 30 hours in :I

It is really about the characters at that point. If they haven't drawn you in by now, there might not be a lot left.

To knock off another game in my backlog, and because I've been on a huge RPGmaker game kick lately, here are some impressions for Alpha Kimori Episode 1 (subtitled Great Doubt but that's not in the Steam title.)

Storywise it's slightly confusing but pretty good. Earth gets invaded and humans find solace on another planet. They then break into two groups: one side uses the planet's resources to drive technological progress (i.e. mechas and superhumans) in the hopes of reclaiming Earth. The other decides to make do with the new planet, and some become "one with the earth" (my terminology) that they can use the crystals to transmute themselves into animals or golems. Both sides accuse the other of starting the war they're in, so it boils down to capitalist warmongers vs. eco-terrorists. So far so good. Then there's some other stuff about seven "angel crystals" that were put into seven babies in the hopes of making super-super-humans. Like I said, it's a bit confusing because everything is "Ki this" and "Ki that." Ki crystals are harvested from Ki creatures and go into Kimorians who in turn get Ki skills...I think. Anyway. It would have been better if they simplified it, but points for trying.

Graphically it's pretty nice. There was a lot of customization at work. Battles take place on a diorama-like background and use the same character sprites. And the music is pretty good - they even included something with Hatsune Miku, apparently. So on the surface, it looks good, it sounds good, and it's got a decent story. Where does it fall flat, you might ask? Let me count the ways.

They removed dashing so you can only walk everywhere. They frequently block off the shortcuts you uncover so you have to go through areas with easy mobs in order to get where you want to go. There's lots of backtracking. They added a farming quest to get 50(!) of an item. (I had 28 at the time.) And despite all that, it's still only 6 hours long. Thanks to generous levelling up and especially levelling up of ki points (aka mana,) and that every character so far can heal at least themselves if not anyone, the game is super easy. If you read my previous impression, it's even easier than Steel & Steam. I didn't die once. The weapon and armour shops pretty much only provide one upgrade per slot. (There MAY have been two or three for body armour.)

And the absolute worst thing of all? This game commits a sin even worse than "unwinnable boss battles." You fight a boss, you kick its ass, and right thereafter the person you just beat slaps you around as if nothing happened and you're all "Ahh, they're too strong!" That happens FIVE TIMES during the game. INCLUDING THE FINAL BOSS FIGHT. You mop the floor with him, then apparently a retreat is in order and the party is being chased by the guy whose ass you just fucking kicked. Maybe they realized the game was so easy that winning wasn't really an accomplishment anyway, so they found a way to make winning feel pointless? I don't know.

Overall, a disappointing game that on its surface could have been so much better. A shame, too, because I had high hopes for this one. Seriously, I don't like making bad impressions of games - I'd much rather make good ones and tell people to get a game! - but yeah. I don't recommend this one.

Did you met this guy yet?

If you already did and the game is still boring to you, I don't know what to say.
yes, olivier was great, but then he left

Uh oh. That's not promising. :(
i mean i've enjoyed what i played a lot but i'm at the point where i want a big bad dude to kill or something

i dunno, i like the characters but you know i need some sort of conflict to keep me going.

it doesn't have to be one or the other, you can have fun characters doing fun side stuff and still have an antagonist and a larger story

i mean there are hints towards that but lately i can't bring myself to play it for more than half an hour or something cos it just got so uninteresting to me

Was the really long name on the front page another one of Stump's experiments?

On a separate note, I've just started Cinders and I'm liking the visuals and music so far. Curious to see where the story goes.

So I had a hankering to boot up some Super Hexagon but whoa my god. There's this insane strobe light effect and the game is like 10 fps as well. Still managed 59 seconds on hexagon but oh lordy it was rough on the noggin. Any idea what's causing this behavior?

Gtx 760 4gb is the new piece of gear since I last played on my 760 2gb.

Speaking of Transistor, I just finished the main game and went right back into it for NG+. This is the first time I've ever done that.

Are there any other games on Steam (or even the 3ds) with a similar combat style? I'm an RPG n00b if you haven't noticed.

I'm not the only one here who had to read this like 10 times to understand the meaning am i? >_>

I saw this earlier but just skipped over it because I also didn't get it. Once I saw all the replies I realized what he meant!

Also, this has been on my mind lately but in the steam community, you know your status part where it says "9 people like this including blah blah blah"? It really bothers me that i can't see who the rest of the people who liked it was, lol. The whole thing is pretty much facebook so Valve could at least add to it.

I finally understood it now too. >.>

Also, hooray I'm a member now! :D

Grats deer.

ehh doesn't attract me too much

i get these times of just listening to random female singer non stop for some reason and then it goes away. i think it was like kate nash last year

i don't even really like this type of music but for some reason it aligns with my mood and i just play it non stop mix on youtube

mitsurugi kamui hikae is so much fun, but i keep dying, fml, i hate those mastiff looking dude and their charging move, most big enemies have that stupid move and i have trouble avoiding them, but I'm playing better!

i can't tell for sure if that game is anything other than panties, it seems like it is but at the same time i heard it's so light in content so i'm guessing panty fandom is pretty important to compensate for that and appreciate this game

if it is then ehhh, i can live without
