Maybe, but that seems weird too. Why would they ? They are, in a way, part of the "core" roster of Smash Bros. They aren't unlockable and they aren't a clone. Why weren't they been worked on for a long time ? Sakurai even talked about implementing the "double character" mechanic on 3DS in an interview a long time ago IIRC.

I'm not saying you're wrong though, just wondering.

They probably were talking about Rosalina and Luma, but I'm not sure about it. *shrugs* This Leak is definitely weird.

Okay, well here's my weigh in on the leak:

- First of all, I find it hard to definitively choose a side. It looks so so very real but lots of things seem off to me. The one thing I can say for certain is that the roster image, if real, is not complete. I do not for a moment think Sakurai would cut some of the characters not included, nor do I think he would arrange them as they are there. I must choose to believe the DLC rumor if I believe that roster because it just makes too much sense, and those 5 characters would fill those remaining slots perfectly for 55 total slots. It seems perfectly reasonable that Sakurai would want more time to develop those characters, but wants to get the 3DS version out as soon as possible. And it seems like that roster's layout could straighten up a bit if it's completed. The "clone corner" is weird and dumb. You don't see Luigi, Falco, and Toon Link down there. Just put the clones with their franchises like usual.

- Some of those model renders look straight up odd (Wario, Ganondorf), while others look amazing (Jiggs, DHD).

- If this is real, I will be quite pleased. Only two cuts (which I'll get to) and 17 newcomers, I would be ecstatic. The only real issues I have are no Mewtwo, and the presence of Doc. I will be less upset about Doc if he has some major differences from standard Mario, but otherwise I don't even think the effort to make the clone was worthwhile (sorry Doc fans). Dark Pit is a cool low-effort clone I would love just for the chance that he'll have other weapons from Uprising. I was completely sold on the idea of Duck Hunt Dog, but only after I saw the render (fake or real, that's a huge improvement on the original). I would also suspect that the leak from awhile ago was correct with Bowser Jr. being swappable with the Koopalings, which would be great. A little bummed that Chorus Kids would be coming late, but better late than never. Also Shulk is great. And Snake returning would be megaton material.

- Pokemon got the shaft :( No Mewtwo, only two cuts we're Ivysaur and Squirtle, and the total number of Pokemon has gone down (Brawl = 6, Smash Wii U/3DS = 5). This is my only real gripe with the roster. Mewtwo returning seemed like a no brainer to me.

- I would be thoroughly suprised if the DLC characters are paid. I imagine they would be included by default in the Wii U version, and would be free for 3DS when the Wii U version hits.

Whatever, sign me up for #TeamReal. But I'm still very wary of it.

Saw this on reddit.

Ok, so the current denialist theory is:

Someone made reasonably high-quality renders of Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr., Ness, Duck Hunt, Shulk, Wario, Falco, Ganondorf, R.O.B., and Jigglypuff
They made a fake stage select screen, including never-before-seen pictures of stages. They used a leaked early copy of Famitsu as a reference, but didn't just cut-and-paste the image from Famitsu. (Note that simply having played Tomodachi Life isn't good enough: they got the room in the right position, also).
They diligently researched tiny details such as the background color of Fox's portrait, which differs on the box art, and accurately reproduced an anomaly in the thickness of a black line on the character select screen which no one on this forum noticed until it was pointed out by the leak
They made several drastic-but-sensible-in-hindsight UI changes, such as text going away with the icons this small and a whole new screen for selecting customizable characters

Now, I confess that there is no part of this which is impossible. Obviously there are many people in the world sufficiently skilled with 3D graphics to have generated those images, there are many people in the world with lots of free time and nothing better to do with it, they might have had a lucky guess / early access to Famitsu with respect to the stage, etc., but... don't you guys think this is seriously straining credibility here?

Man, I don't even like Bowser Jr., but even if he doesn't the superior Koopalings as alts, I'd take him in a nanosecond if it meant we'd get Duck Hunt Dog.

I'm more ambivalent to Junior, but otherwise, all this.

Being able to play as Roy, Morton and/or Wendy instead would just make this the icing on the cake.

Though, I guess what I wonder about there is that if Bowser doesn't have his normal "voice" from the games, I wonder what that would mean for Jr (and the Koopalings)? Would they just have a bunch of higher-pitched roars and growls, as well?

I was going to reveal the newcomer choice soon, but do we even need one today? I don't want to ruin the leak talk.

The way you say "I don't want to ruin the leak talk" makes it sound like you think this is a serious, intelligent discussion and not just a bunch of people yelling at each other about errant pixels and cartoon characters' untucked t-shirts.

oh Oric

so young

so naive

go on and post it :p

Yoshi being between two Mario reps and the clone corner just make the CSS look messy as hell.

If the DLC characters get slotted in where appropriate, the lineup changes like it did in Melee to match things up properly across the board, in terms of franchise quadrants and stuff.

But yeah the clone cluster is a bit weird.

Good point. They might get the VAs that did them in the NSMB games, but it'd be really elaborate just for one character.

Damn I think I wanna be on #TeamReal now...

NO!

I refuse to jynx it. I'm staying #TeamFake for you guys! FIGHT AND WIN!!!

It's a win win for me. If I'm wrong, I still get Bowswer Jr. But if the leak is fake, I get to say I was right on the internet. Woohoo! Everything is coming up Gripex.

On the other hand it's also a lose lose. If the leak is real, you were wrong, and if it's fake you probably don't get Bowser Jr

I say post it. The leak talk will probably go on for a while, especially if Sakurai continues to post more Smash Run pics...
Sakurai will post a extremely ambiguous pic about a character that is not in the leak
like ridley

or Zero Two

"Pic of the day. What's Ridley doing on the Pyrosphere stage? Tune into the Smash Bros. Direct on 8/25 to find out the answer and more!"

To the people who did join my tournament. What do you guys feel about this little rule that I just put up. ^^

"If a Sudden Death match occurs, play it, winner gets to choose the stage to fight on next. Which you then go into a 1 stock/3 minute match, which will determine who wins the match (note: you keep the same characters you had before the match)"

Is there a screenshot with a menu identical to the one posted in the first leak screenshot? It's from Smash Run, right?

The only footage I see from that menu has user names instead of levels (even if they don't have a set name). That seems like a weird change. Not bringing that up because of my doubt in regards to the leak but mostly since out of everything shown I think this is the one thing shown that I legitimately wouldn't like.

Which is more likely? Two official renders of Mario have similar face shapes, or the leaker correctly guessed one of the rooms that would appear in the Tomodachi stage?

But yeah the clone cluster is a bit weird.

But why would that affect the first row? None of the DLC characters are from the franchises in the first row, all it needs is Yoshi being placed after Bowser. JR and it makes perfect sense.

I dunno, it just seems weird to me. It's possible the person who made this forgot Yoshi is his own franchise.

Yeah. Stranger things have happened, but it'd be a bit much for just one character, I'd think. Not to mention that, again, it'd be odd to have them with their "normal" voices, but Bowser doesn't.

The alternative I could imagine is that the Bowser Jr .character has one set of roars/growls that they could feasibly pitch up and down depending on the "skin" chosen (re: deeper for Roy/Morton/Ludwig, lighter for almost everyone else, really high for Wendy).

Considering they did this type of thing for Luigi for years until Brawl gave him his current vocal style, I could see that.
