It does have comedic moments but the series is more dark/dramatic. It's a shonen though and though

In that episode at least it was absolutely terrible at being in any way dramatic at all. I don't particularly want to watch more either.

I actually wasn't sure if the violence even was meant to be comedic or not

Oh boy here we go. The plot's starting to move... I think. Regardless, unlike "If her Flag Breaks," from last season, I really want to see how deep this rabbit hole is going to go regardless of how crazy it'll be.

akame ga kill 1

Jesus Christ, talk about mood whiplash. I can't tell if this is meant to be comedic or dramatic, but either way, it completely sucks at both
It's supposed to be both.

GODDAMN!

They just got Blown. The. Fuck. Out.

Noa showing her superiority like a true champ.

To the top of Best Girl rankings she goes.
I don't like her. But I can certainly respect her.

They sound creepy though.
I expected them to be deeper and not whatever the hell that was.

Its not at all meant to be comedic, its meant to be horrifying to show just how morally corrupt and evil the family is. All the comedy in the first half was meant to throw you off, make you not realize the family in question were monsters.

Terror In Resonance 6

Yeah a bit behind on this

So the terrorist must now stop the bomb or else actually become the terrorist they claim to be instead of whatever their real plan is.

Guess we'll have to judge this show on where it's all going.

MetroidPrimeRib's fetish is nothing, they are perfectly happy with a 100% platonic relationship.

I didn't know people were spreading such inane lies about me.

Well my initial reaction was to burst out laughing so I'd say it wasn't very good at it

Yeah, I'd say the first few parts of Akame ga Kill are a bit hard to take seriously because of things like that.

It worked for me. And I never got any of the whiplash (in terms of it impacting my suspension of disbelief) that some people got.

I thought Akame Ga Kill has been great the whole way, it's caused me to go straight on :O at least 3 times already. Only shows I can think of that have failed so spectacularly that I laughed at what was supposed to be serious seasons are FMA 03's filler ending, SAO, and Blue Exorcist filler ending.

Nah son, it was OBVIOUS shit was up when that girl came to Tatsumi's aid. The show has no sense of subtly nor can it really ham it up well. It's more try hard than anything.

I still don't see the point in that 1 girl character they added to the terrorist duo. She's done nothing and adds nothing of value to anything that's going on. If she died tomorrow not two fucks would be given by the audience on that day.

I dont think it was obvious to me. I think I expected the girl to help him out and then later on get brutally murdered (along with her family) to drive him off on his revenge quest.

This post has summoned me, and now I am here to tell you that you are out of your goddamned mind.

Sorry that you can't appreciate one of the greatest voice actors in the history of English voice acting. His roles as Caster's Master in F/Z, Vash in Trigun, and LeLouch in Code Geass among others just made those characters come to life. Yes he's had some meh performances like Emil in Tales of Symphonia 2 and Ichigo in Bleach... but I don't think there is much you can do with the awful writing that game and series had.

I think people hate on him because he's cast in so many series, and honestly he does a fantastic job in almost all of them. Seeing him last week in Space Dandy and playing though Trails in the Sky just continues to remind me how his voice just works so well for a lot of different characters and really helps to suck me into a wide variety of games and anime. He'd be on my mount Rushmore of English voice actors along with Steve Blum, Crispin Freeman, and Vic Magnolia.

Momo's true feelings have allowed Blossom to level up once more and gets her a special move. Blossom truly fights for her friends.

At first I thought she was going to be the groups undoing, but I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being the "ace in the hole" that enables their plan to finally succeed in the end.

I mean if you went into the show knowing it was "LOL grim dark" like some people did I guess that would have been obvious. Even if you were expecting a swerve I don't think you were expecting it to be anywhere near as severe as it was. I guess it worked for me because the main character just straight up killed a bitch without flinching which is so freshing when most shonen protagonist would hesitate or shenanigans

This, seriously even if you were expecting some kind of swerve, I doubt you were expecting
a family who loves to torture and butcher travelers for fun
. I feel this show is going to end up in the same tier as a show like School Days or Madoka where it becomes so infamous for it's "LOL wtf dark omg LOL fuck this" that people go into it expecting the over the top darkness and crazy swerves.

I agree with Bass in that JYB is a talented VA. The issue I have is that he doesn't have a ton of range (all his roles sound similar to a degree) and the the VA pool for US dubs is kind of small so he's overexposed.

5 minute intro with Tatsumi and the guys he saved going on and on with how shit the capital was + girl's guards whispering to themselves and to the lady about her "habits" when they found Tatsumi later in the episode = me counting down till the "twist". When the family offered to help Tasumi search for his friends I was half expecting them to have been already killed by that family and lo and behold I was half right :p

Terror in Resonance-7

So yea I also liked this episode. I don't think it's particularly necessary to know the terrorist's main motivations in order for me to root for them. The show has given enough breadcrumbs to point to where they're going with the backstories and motivations that for them to spell it out with some flashbacks isn't really needed (although I'm sure they'll do it anyway). I do have to agree that I'm not happy with the way they've depicted Sphinx in that the writers never fully committed to the terrorist angle and are using some contrived methods to get around it.

As to the complaints about Lisa, I have no clue why some people were howling earlier. I can see Lisa causing a split between the Nine and Twelve but for now she's fine. She's mainly serving as the observer into all the events.

The big problem with the show is Five. She's just way too over the top and it's going to be interesting to see how the scriptwriters handle the fallout from this episode. Unlike everybody else who seems to have a decent goal in mind, she just seems batshit insane. That alone isn't bad enough but rather it's the fact that the 'government' seemingly approves of her antics. Even the CIA in a third world country wouldn't be as straight out brazen in their tactics as she is here. So there has to be some serious repercussions on her side or yea I'm gonna say this a 'jump the shark' moment because of her.

Is there any anime on Netflix/Crackle/Crunchyroll you guys can recommend to me? I asked this in the Wisdom teeth thread but i'll ask here for more opinions. My only criteria is that it's not a tit show and the fan service is kept to a minimal so I don't get awkward questions from my family about why that women is half naked, or why that one girl is feeling up her friend in the bath.

Edit: before I forget, for Crunchyroll if i'm on my couch will I be able to properly read the subtitles? Seems like a silly question but just need to make sure.

Double edit: Funimation is also an option as well forgot to mention that.

Jesus, I did not expect the anime to get so heavy all of a sudden. By itself, the thought of a goblin invasion doesn't seem so bad, but when you throw in the recent revelation regarding death and respawning, panic and doubt starts to set in. Against all odds, the adventurers genuinely seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do they help out NPCs and risk dying, or do they turn a blind eye and let people (real people, living actual, tangible lives) perish? It's a tough question, and i'm sure if I were in that situation i'd be at a complete loss too. In any case, I loved how Minori stepped up to the plate in this episodes. She's really turning Shiroe's protegé.

Always look thirty seconds ahead.

List is missing Liam O'Brien, Laura Bailey <3, Brad Swaile, and Michael Kopsa.

She's a piss poor proxy for the audience though in my opinion.

If she becomes a pocket ace sure I'm game. For now though character is uninteresting and meh.

Mushi-shi is on YouTube, will that work?

I agree with everything here, even if I didn't like the writing, I have to admit the episode was well put together in other areas. It was pretty interesting, since a lot was going on, but it still managed to be pretty well paced.

I don't really want to judge the non-Five aspects of the show until it over.

5 is bat shit cray totally expect her to go full on yandere by the end of things. Really like this two parter though I really don't know where they plan to take things cause the fall out from this should be immense.

You liked Higurashi? Maybe try Shinsekai Yori? I think that's on Crunchyroll and it's sort of got a similar horror, answer questions as you go on format.

Fate/Zero and FMA Brotherhood are popular on Netflix. There's also Battle Royale if you're interested in live action.

Edit: And if you have a crunchyroll pass and you can fullscreen it, it should be fine. I'm not sure about watching it in standard quality though.

More fighting! I agree with the characters when they say that the end of the Grand Magic Games felt like forever ago. Also, Gray touched Juvia's butt. One of the most climactic battles of the series, and it's still had its share of perverted humor. That's what I like about it, though.

Busou Shinki Moon Angel

I liked the TV series when it first aired. It's one of the first healing-mecha (and likely the only one) that I've seen, achieving a nice balance between Hand Maid May and Gundam Build Fighters, while also being distinctly similar to Angelic Layer. Slice of life with robots or robot girls needs to be a thing that happens more often. (Thank you, RGZ, and KanColle, I hope for the best.) While this felt more like I watched the entirety of GBF in a single, condensed movie. The CG wasn't too terrible, either. I have to remember that the Strarf and Anval here aren't the same ones as the TV show, even if they share their VAs. Two Fridays in a row I go with heartwarming tales about robot girls. This may be turning into a habit.

Hmmm I wonder who's gonna license Parasyte's and Terra Formars anime? My guess would be Funimation since they usually license action Anime's, but I feel unsure.

Hunter x Hunter and Noragami on Netflix.

Fate/Zero - 2

Decided to pick this back up. After refreshing my memory on the exposition that happened in the first episode, I was ready to dive back in.

Going with the dub. Voices aren't too bad.

So I guess this is the part where I say #TeamRider? I don't know. He seems cool, but I'll pick a side after I see these guys in action.

Fate/Zero I already have on the list via a friend. Wasn't a huge fan of FMA or Brotherhood when it was on YTV and I'm not willing to give it another chance right now.

I do have Crunchyroll pass so Shinsekai Yori is on the list as well

Also, if you haven't seen it, Trigun is on Netflix. Its awesome, and I can't really recall any fanservice.

Have it on DVD. It is indeed awesome.

Only Little Busters is available on the services he listed (Crunchyroll, in this case). Clannad is on Hulu, and Kanon is on Funimation.

Crap I forgot to mention I can do Funimation. Not nesscisarly into harem's so I'll likely pass on Clannad, Little Busters and Kanon

Hunter x Hunter and Noragami on Netflix.

I'm avoiding long running series for the time being so no on HxH. Noragami is on the list though.

Yo if you can do Funimation then watch Barakamon. Such a great slice of life comedy that's heartwarming and contains nice messages.
