He's stated in the past about how he'd be okay with Lucas getting cut, so idk either.

Alright guys, obviously anything could change, but if this is indeed our final list of newcomers:
How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.
Me personally? A few missed opportunities aside, fucking stoked. 15 new fighters is nothing to scoff regardless of clones, and you could even bump that number to 17 if you count the Mii Fighter as 3 different characters.
Well, depends. A lot of them look fun. Megaman is damn fun, and Bowser Jr. easily is now my second-most hyped newcomer in terms of playstyle. However, I feel it's severely lacking some things. There's only two villains, one of which is an antihero and the other of which is, at best, second-in-command. And, while he does look fun, and he is a great Pokemon, I feel Greninja's a really lacking newcomer. Remove the clones, and everyone else has a gimmick or style that's fully new. In order, Stances/Phases, Namco & Watch, Modok, Fitness moves, Collecting moves, almost entirely uses projectiles, stand character, fully customizable specials, great on ground but bad on air, unknown (Duck hunt dog), fully customizable avatar character, and resource management. I skipped only the clones and Greninja. But that's because I just don't get what Greninja brings. We already have a Ninja, we've had water based characters. He just sticks out to me as being someone who's uniqueness isn't immediately obvious. Plus, I just feel Pokemon has so much more to offer than humanoid-Pokemon, especially when we already have Lucario and Mewtwo. Why not choose a uber or one of the more weird picks? There's certainly ones to choose from, even just counting popular ones. I donno. The rest of the roster is great, especially if we get more villains.
Maybe that's the menu when you first start the game. It was a video, not a demo (character select could be different chronologically)
Also to note that some newcomers get interesting feature.
The book/levin sword for Robin.
Luma for Rosalina.
Totally different custom moves for Palutena/Miis.
3 types of characters (!!!) for Mii Fighters.
Probably something for Duck Hunt Dog.
Mega man multi weapons.
K.O. Gauge for Little Mac.
Pocket for Villager.
Maybe missing stuff but that's just, wow, Sakurai outdone himself.
Edit : Shulk with his stances.

Exactly and apparently all stars mode was locked so possibly a few more characters?
I know how you feel, but even you should be able to realize the difference in importance between first party and third party.

The difference here is Dark Pit existed as a Pit costume and then was repurposed into a character. Lucas likely never existed in the game at all.
Repurposing existing assets != creating a new character from scratch, even if he works similarly to another one(let's be honest, Lucas is pretty different from Ness even if they're similar).
Those weren't my doubts! I was just trying to be fair and even to both sides of the argument at the time. Kinda moot at this point, but thanks for contributing!

If the Wii U has extra characters, it'll be DLC for the 3DS version.
Especially if he's planning some big blowout direct to reveal them all. If not, then it's not a huge deal, no different than the game coming out, but if he had (and he does) newcomer trailers, the hype is now less.

In the end it's inevitable that the roster will leak. I wonder if the DLCs are a way to prevent a few characters from leaking.

There's still surprise to be had. The roster isn't complete. Still possibilities of who could still be unlocked. No confirmation on those characters. But "WOW" on Shulk being a character. Guess that leaker was right all along before the Fire Emblem Trailer reveal.
As for Dr. Mario, Why?!!! Such a wasted character slot. Would of preferred more representation for Star Fox, like Krystal....

Post exists on the website, translation is accurate. I feel bad for Sakurai. It's one thing to have a retail copy get out a little earlier than scheduled, but it's another thing entirely for a member of an organization bound by an NDA to leak this kind of info. As a fan, I appreciate getting these pics and videos, but I do feel bad for Sakurai as an individual to have his baby get leaked like this.

Only 2 of the characters I really wanted. But happily surprised with how the rest turned out. It's a good bunch. Maybe next time Isaac

It's probably way harder for a pyramid-operation (with a single point on top) to see everything get leaked than it would be for, say, Assassin's Creed stuff to get leaked.

I'm sad that Lucas got the axe because the MOTHER fanbase is pretty much divided in half on whether Mother 2 or 3 was the best game (with a few hardliners who like Mother 1), so it's sad that now only Mother 2 gets a rep.
I fall on the Mother 3 side so I'm sad we're going to get little to no representation from that game ;_;

Bit upset at the lack of Lucas and ICs, but I'm stoked about all the newcomers anyway.

For Smash 4, I really really wanted Mega Man and Little Mac. I expected Rosalina, Miis, and Pac-Man. Without a leak, Shulk would have been so far out of left field.
Overall, I am happy with the roster. I really want to play as Greninja, even though I never expected him. Same for most everyone else.
There's not a newcomer I have no interest in playing.
