Persona 5 also launching on PS4, releasing 2015 ["waifu"/"husbando" crap = ban]

I'm kind of not a fan of how the P5 opening seems to imply the exact same kind of context as P3/P4. Particularly the whole "new transfer student kid in town arrives by train, swoons everyone over and also hidden powers". Hell this particular opening seems like it's note-by-note a redo of P3 sans the dark hour backdrop.

Oh well, as long as it doesn't have the same clichéd setup as P3 where the protag and the related parties has some dark past pertaining to the overarching plot I'm down with it. P4 to me was pretty refreshing in how everyone involved were just regular people who were at the wrong place at the wrong time, and chose to react on it. Can't really stand the whole "huge hidden organization against Shadows" thing anymore when playing P3.

But Persona 4 is only on Vita, right?

I think P3 is available on the PS3, right? I think I'm just gonna wait for P5 anyways, though. Would like to see what a more up-to-date Persona game is like, even if its just on PS3 still.

That's Persona 4 Golden.
Persona 4 from ps2 classic is playable on ps3.

Naw, the original P4 is also in PS2, available on the PS3 via PSN.

So what? It focused on death, but none of the game ever brought up suicide and discussed it in a relevant, prevalent manner considering your characters are shooting themselves in the head for 80 hours.

Suicide wasn't brought up because it wasn't relevant. The game's theme was the inevitability of natural death (hence "memento mori" right at the beginning), not the desire to kill yourself. The Evokers are meant to represent the acceptance of inevitable death-- a strength of character in a series where Personas represent strength of character.

I'm willing to concede that the evokers have their symbolism, though handled in a piss poor fashion narratively that again showed how Atlus didn't/doesn't have a complete enough grasp on their audience. I have to go with the present tense considering how Naoto was handled in Vanilla P4 and that one waitress character in Catherine.

Also, that bit you posted? That logic? That's the kind of enabling, complacent, subtle, insidious mindset folks hate in gaming culture.

No, I don't have tumblr, so I'm not that far down the SJW rabbit hole, but that joke you made about slitting wrists as if to belittle the act of suicide? You can honestly stuff that.

They're handled in fine narrative fashion. The game just doesn't beat you over the head with the justifications, it's symbolic and you're meant to interpret it in connection with all the other prevailing themes of the game. Like the fact that the protagonist harbors Thanatos, a God of Death. You're taking it the wrong the way and choosing to be offended by something where there is no offence to be taken.

Your example of Yukari at the beginning is off the mark. She struggles to use the Evoker because she hasn't, at that point, formed the resolve necessary to summon her "other self." She's not contemplating suicide.

The character didn't have any luggage and you can see other kids in uniform on the train. Might just be his usual morning commute instead of a first day at a new city/school, but we'll see.

The theme of this game is emancipation right?

Is the shackle the phone? Everyone is looking into their phones in this video.

Man alive, all the PS4 owners in this thread are thirsty as fuck for games.

Serves you right for buying it on the promise of one game that isn't even out yet. You silly billys.

And proof, if any was needed, that indie games cannot, in fact, fill the gap that the current dearth of AAA games has left. Indies alone cannot justify expensive electronics purchases, no matter how innovative or immersive they are.

On topic, the protag is certainy...pretty, isn't he? And I thought Yu was a bishy sorta dude. If P5 Protag had a voice actor, I wouldn't be surprised if it were Romi Park.

And yay at the big city setting. I don't think I could've taken another Inaba after P4's recent over-exposure.

I feel offended by this statement.

Maybe I missed something, why wouldn't it bother us lowly europeans?

EU deserves better treatment from Atlus.

wait... What? i do feel bothered about that.

I'm from Europe myself and this doesn't bother me one bit, because the PS3/PS4 is region free. If I want it day one I'll buy it digitally. If I want a physical release I'll get it a few days later than the US does. Also, you actually save money, buying the US version in both cases, rather than getting the localized EU one.

What in the hell is this?
Who bought their PS4's for one game? What are you even talking about?

I always wanted this on PS4 instead of PS3, so thank you Atlus.

Now, excuse me while I go play Persona 4 Golden.

The PS4 and XBO have more games than any previous console in their first year. Just because people are excited for a game doesn't mean their thirsty -_-

As far as I'm concerned, the only must-buy game for PS4 before today was Bloodborne, and correct me if i'm wrong, but that isn't out yet. Oh, and Resogun if I'm being charitable.

Please don't tell me you bought yours for Knack.

Look, my point is that there still aren't enough good PS4 exclusive games coming out for me to justify a purchase yet. I will get one eventually, though.

Nailed it. I just hope Atlus releases both in the west. I'm not getting a PS4 just for Persona 5.
Bingo. Even just a digital-only release would be good, but physical is best of course.

Embarrassing post. Like many others, one of the main reasons I bought a PS4 was to get the best console version of multiplatform games like AC4 and Diablo 3 UEE. I was also smart and skipped TLoU on the PS3 so I could start fresh with the much improved Remaster. This fall I'm looking forward to Drive Club, AC Unity, and Shadows of Mordor among others.

Yes, because a few people on GAF can tell you how 10 million consumers feel. And I'm pretty sure most of the people posting in this thread don't even own a PS4.

Would be nice to get a Vita release a la P3P. Just can't sit in front if a tv for a 60 hour RPG.

A lot of people say this, but I have trouble understanding it. Why is being able to play a game on the big screen worse than playing on a tiny one?
If it's because you need to share the TV, Persona 5 will likely have a great story that people wouldn't mind watching you play through. :)

Pretty jazzed for Persona 5, but I'm a bit iffy about the whole PS4 and PS3 thing. Hopefully the quality isn't diminished because it needs to run on both systems.
