The Evil Within Ultimate Preview Video

Awesome video!! Very informative, as I've yet to catch up on all of the pre-release footage. (Nice touch at the end, blowing out the candle! :lol)

It still kills me that it was delayed cause otherwise we would have it in our hands now. :D But hey, little more time for polish and to get others ready for it, sounds good to me!

Been intrigued by this game for awhile and I love how this video has been the best content video i have seen for the game thus far! Thank you for restoring my hype and awesome video! :)

For someone who has no official ties to the game, you're going above and beyond and have done more to promote and keep everyone informed on this game than Bethesda has done since it was announced.

They really need to acknowledge your hard work in some fashion, just wouldn't be right if they didn't.

I will say, Bethesda hasn't even aknowledge this video whatsoever. Not on twitter or anywhere else to my knowledge. So I don't even think they noticed. :D Thats alright though. Hopefully they enjoy it if they watch.

Great video. The only thing that's holding me back is I remember press previews coming back luke-warm?

Looks great though, I like the random enemy placements.

The first big outlash at the game was from a off hands demo that really didn't showcase too much. A few months later after the press got their hands on it, they have a bit of a different tone.

Hey GAF!

I went ahead and created a 5 minute video for The Evil Within. It encompasses a general broad sense of all the information we have on the story, gameplay (thanks to GAF member Dusk Golem for some input from his hands on at PAX) and a focus on some of the enemy types you'll be encountering. There is plenty more that Tango Game Works and Bethesda won't be sharing till the retail release I assume. This does a pretty good job of letting you know what horrors you can expect to encounter when evil takes hold Oct 14th, 2014.If anyone has any questions I didn't answer in the video, shoot. Me and Dusk and even MD would possible be able to answer any of them for you. After this, I think I'm about done covering this game until release, there isn't much more that can be said at this point.

Also if you haven't read Dusk Golem in depth impressions, it's a great read. Be sure to check out his thread here.
Got around to watching this. Excellent work, as always. So excited for this game!! :)

From this video looks like the camera gets in the way. Anybody else noticed it?

The camera in Evil Within is dynamic, but not bad. I think the footage is older, but based on where you pull your gun out from, the camera will zoom in either a little bit or a lot. In big open areas, the pulling out gun camera will be more pulled back to let you see a wider area. In tight corridors, it'll almost be like a first person view. And various in-betweens.

You can also shoot without zooming in, though I don't know how accurate your gun will be.

That's the second aiming mode, the accuracy is horrendous but from messing around with it is more designed to help you fire a quick shot to try and attempt to stun an enemy in a close situation that to take aim and shoot enemies, so basically panic shooting as I call it.

How do you do the secondary aim versus the first? Different triggers on the controller?

Different triggers, I can't for the life of me recall what the triggers were right now though. Though as there's four different control schemes it could change with the scheme, but on scheme one I think it was on the Xbox One left trigger to hold down for regular aiming, and right trigger to shoot when you were pulled out to aim, Right bumper is how you crouch, and left bumper I think was how you got into the second mode, which I call 'gun-slinging'.

I also want to say for those getting it on PC that I think this may be a game for use with a controller. Literally every button, even the analog press-down buttons, were used for something in the game, because Sebastian has a lot of actions. I'll play with PC controls when they come out and judge how they work, however.

Was planning on using a mouse for this, I'll try the m/kb controls first and if they feel weird I'll switch to my DS4.

It'll be interesting. I generally enjoy those controls for games, but I was thinking about it since this game has a lot of buttons and sensitivity to how Sebastian moves based on how far you press the analog stick, but I won't judge until I try as I usually prefer keyboard and mouse personally.

I recently had this brought to my attention privately over on youtube messages and wanted to just mention this here. Here is a small quote, there is more but here is the bottom line the person wanted to express.

"I'd like to speak honestly. The video made me uncomfortable. Something like this, which blends advertising and news style media coverage, is typical for games media outlets"

Obviously it made them uncomfortable on the way this video was done, the production of it, etc. I apologize if this video came off that way whatsoever. I simple wanted to do a fun video that was sort of all encompassing the information we have on the game so far since video previews seem to be lacking that as of this post. My message isn't about trying to tell you this will be the best game ever or that it deserves your money, and yes the game could suck for all I know. It will have flaws like any other game does and I'll be sure to discuss those in my coverage of the game once it releases. Again, if this came off gross, or misleading to anyone. I apologize. Not my intention in the slightest.

Unless something major drops, pretty much. The Top 5 reasons and this seem to cover things well. I don't see too much more dropping from them aside from a launch trailer and perhaps a TGS trailer as well. I might do a discussion video on those, but otherwise no coverage further till I review it and do a walk through for it.

Yup, as MD said below as well.

Also Slasher, no worries. When I really enjoy something or am excited for something I sort of try to sell people on it, because I curious what they may think, have people to talk more about the game with, sell it so it might do even just a little bit better, and when it comes to my impressions I just like to try and share my thoughts and things I notice while playing.

I'm not hiding Evil Within is right now my most anticipated game, and that I loved what I played of it and now am invested in the game and curious how it does, but I want it to do well since this is the sort of game that can be very easily misunderstood, overlooked, etc. So I will be soon some things to try and raise awareness for the game and tell people things about it, because I've had a good amount of time with a single area in the game to notice a lot of things and I'm pretty sure at this point I'm going to love the game, but from playin it I can also see how many misconceptions about the game and what it is happens to be out there. A lot of people are expecting RE4 meets REmake, or an action game disguised as a horror game, or a borking and clunky game, or other things of the sort and I think many will be a bit surprised with what it is, which from what I've played is a modern take on the old survival-horror genre, the adventure game element seems to be toned down a bit but is present (especially compared to recent horror games), the action element is there but toned down to a lot of modern game (you're not empowered, ammo and supplies are scarce as the enemies are tough and unforgiving), the game is a surreal horror game that mixes a lot of elements from various sub-genres of horror, with particular attention given to grindhouse, psychological, and pschadelic horror. The survival element is increased substantially as the game is challenging. Atmosphere is also very strong from what I've played, helped from excellent art direction, sound design, music, an pacing.

The above is the best way I can describe it. It had elements o all of Mikami's other games, but it also feels different and it's own thing.

No doubt on that. Especially seeing as it's a single player only game. Seems so many people are not willing to purchase games the lack multiplayer. There is no hiding the fact that all the Evil Within thread count views are not nearly as high as some of the other games people make OT's about so it needs the help. I can't tell you how many people I've heard change their tone on getting this day 1 since you posted your in depth imrpessions and I create this video. So that alone shows something.

LOL....thats pretty awesome.

Preordered the game a few days ago (didn't realize it was also for ps4 which is an added plus), and it looks soooooooo good. Can't wait for it!

Has there been any info on the ps3 version? Since sadly i will be only able play it on a ps3 atm i am getting a little worried they haven't shown anything from that version. I really hope they put out a demo atleast.

The only thing I've seen mentiond was a difference in shadows, but everything else is largely the same sans resolution and maybe loading/framerate. Nothing concrete as of now though.

Lots of folks in the other thread predicting that this will be the biggest gaming bomb come this fall season. I sure hope not.... :/
