New Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Info (Claire, Barry's Daughter, 1080p/60FPS, co-op)

The idea in here that Barry is playable later and he's going to save his daughter I like a lot.
Hope that makes it into the game. Would be cool if he finally gets to her and dies.
Since RE as of late has been pretty bad about killing veteran member's.''

Sooooooooooo

Is this going to be a full AAA effort or be more on the AA side like the original Revelations?

The main idea is that this is the warm up to RE7.
Which is more than likely being made right now in some capacity.

Looking at the scans again, the level of detail actually doesn't look all that different from RE6 to me.

Would make sense that they just use MT Framework.
Probably some minuscule differences.
Will look good on PS4/X1 and PC though. RE6 looks damn good when maxed out on PC.

This looks like shit too. Capcom will never make a biohazard game as great as remake. They dont even need to try since people eat up whatever they crap out these days anyway.

^^ nom nom nom lol

Barry's daughter? So how old is Claire in this game? I'm playing through RE Revelations now and enjoying it immensely, I'll gladly take another game in this vein.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

She's 35 (I think?) No RE character ever looks their age, so it's always hard to tell.

Edit: I guess Barry looked his age. Leon is roughly his age or older in RE6, for comparison. Wrap your head around that one.

We can hope. I want REmake 2 as much as the next guy but not even Mikami will make it (The Evil Within is more of a RE4 successor and that's ok). Hopefully some talented Japanese devs someday pay homage to it.

Also, action Resident Evil is fine, I just wish they would stop with the hybrid system for the more horror oriented games. I've accepted it though.

Yeah and since it's a cross platform as well it makes sense they'd just be using the current MT Framework that RE6 was on.

Current gen/pc is in for a treat, that engine is optimized pretty well and looks great in motion.

So now "Revelation" became a new sub-franchise? What is the distinction of Revelation compared to the numbered sequels?

They call it a return to survival horror roots, but it's really a different way of saying "less action focused".

Off-Topic: lol your avatar keeps changing, but I like what you've done with it.

On-Topic: I really hope that Claire is like how she's been in the previous games and doesn't suddenly become weird like the characters in RE6 kinda did. Leon kinda lost his jokey side from RE4 and he made some dumb decisions that didn't make sense based on his experience from RE4. Not sure how he was like "oh wow zombies" when he faced things that were much worse.

There are no expectations for Moira, so they can't mess her up too much. I love her design though. Really like her hair style. The shot from the back shows it's not like Rebecca's exactly. What I'm wondering though is why she's with Claire and why she'd be captured, too.

Isn't it releasing early next year?

yeah but for some reason I don't think it will.

I think it will release by I dunno...Aug-Oct ?

They need at least one E3 showing. Its RE on next gen.

Resident Evil's problem,to me, is bad level design, bad enemy encounters and mostly uninteresting set pieces.

Its not action that's the problem. Its bad action.

I get this weird feeling that Capcom may want to bring back Rebecca with Billy Coen in the future, hence why she's not in the game. It would make an interesting Revelations 3 or other spin-off game.

Rebecca wouldn't work for this game.

Moira has a gameplay significance as well. She is supposed to be someone who can't fend herself.

Rebecca is a seasoned fighter by now lol.

Top Tier mercenaries reunion character ;p

None, it was simply a handheld game that is why they did not number it but it was as much a RE as any main story game.

Keeping the revelations subtitle is so weird, especially since it is not handheld. I guess this is their cheaper more horror focused RE games now.

Claire was born in '79. This game takes place between RE5 (which took place in 2009) and RE6 (which took place in 2012 or 2013). So she is 30-34 years old.

The campaign will be playable in co-op or singleplayer.

fuck yeah, I hope the combat is still good though even if they're not going for over the top action, I don't want to go back to RE5.

Well, Claire and Leon aren't "kids" anymore. They aren't old, but they aren't going to be so humorous and lively due to their experiences. Chris has lost a lot of his spunk too, understandably so. They're veterans now and dealing with all this, I imagine it's not easy to maintain their old charm in such abundance.

I hope that isn't enough to turn some people away. I would think the more these characters age, the less likely we are to keep placing so much value on youth and feel comfortable aging gracefully ourselves. Claire still looks great but you can see she's older too and that's fine. I thought Chris and Leon looked great in 6 too. They don't look bad at all for men going on 40.

Maybe it's just me but I like that they age. Heck, a lot of older RE fans are the same age as these characters, and Jake Muller was born the same year as me (1992). I look forward to seeing him age as I do, could be really awesome.

Plz. Plz, if there is a Nemesis like creature, please give us the option to deal with it and give an incentive for doing so, at the cost of most of our ammo. Nemesis was fun, because you had the option of dancing with him: not just because he was invincible. Ustanak and the regenerators of Dead Space failed at being anything other than annoyances, because they were just invincible ass set-pieces.

I agree with this.
The fact that you could beat nemesis for that area if you really wanted to made him all the more special as a villain.

I just replayed 2 chapters of Chris RE6. Shits on revelations from such a great height it would bump into a no fly zone over Edonia.

Need to step it up capcpom

I just hope they don't screw Claire up. I will with-hold judgement on the AI companion until I see some gameplay. But I do dislike having that shoehorned into a Resident Evil game, should have made it more like Revelations and kept the AI companion out if you're playing Solo.

If they're serious about returning to their roots then they are gonna need something to make the zombies or whatever they're calling them have an advantage over you, either make them super tough or make ammo super scarce. The Survival and Horror are taken out of the equation if you have so much ammo collected that you've reached the max carry capacity.

Co-op? I'm guessing it's going to be designed more like RE5/RE6 were than RE4, which is exactly not what I want out of this series. :/

Unless they figure out how to make the co-op aspect more SP friendly anyway. less Gears of War and more Secret of Mana I guess.

Agreed. If they don't take the resources and item management seriously then they may as well not bother and just make another RE6. Nothing is scary when you have hundreds of rounds of ammo and two dozen herbs on you at all times.

Kick-ass new avatar. :)

Considering the second player can't even attack from the sound of things.
They're definitely trying something different.

You know what I realized in my RE6 replay?

Jake is such a fun character to play with, even with all these shitty decisions in the level design and some of the mechanics.

RE6 is a MUCH better game than Revelations.

Nah. It's on next(current) gen, but it's not exclusive to it. I think RE7 will be built from the ground up for next gen, though. Revelations 2 will be playable at TGS in 12 days and is probably further along than we know. I doubt they're pulling an FFXV here. =p

I don't think there's any way to avoid seeing those characters change given how much time has passed in the franchise's canon. Claire and Leon were basically teenagers in RE2. Leading up to RE4 Leon went through government training, and was still able to crack a few one-liners. By RE6 he's nearly the same age Barry was in RE1 (late 30's). Claire in Revelations 2 is over a decade removed from the Claire in RE2. Honestly I like the idea of seeing characters in a series age over time.

Plus, the information in the OP already confirms this:

Claire Redfield will return as the playable lead and it is said that “In the time since we last saw her (Claire), she’s grown to be a seasoned veteran.”

You know what I realized in my RE6 replay?

The initial tutorial for RE6 should have had Jake as the only playable character. His gameplay does the best job of teaching people how to actually play RE6.

*Cringes at character models* The curse of cross-gen strikes again. I'm in for the PC version to make this game look somewhat presentable (I was a big fan of the first game). What I am most excited for is an expanded raid mode! Can't wait!

I'll find out eventually - I've had RE6 for 360 still in the shrinkwrap for months now. Gotta finish RE: R first. Backlog Uber Alles

re6 has some performance problems on console, unfortunately. it's got a lot of screen tearing and the 10-30fps it runs at makes the game "feel" a lot choppier than it really is

also is it time to post re6 gifs WOOO

Would be nice to have a speedy release schedule.Would be awesome if the game is really good.
