I wonder if it's something like completing classic mode with the starting roster or every character. That has to get you something nice at the least.
Yeah I figured based on the leak but didn't want to say it definitively until he's actually unlocked.

Believe me, I actually enjoyed playing with him and an glad he's back. I just think it's weird that he's the most difficult character to unlock two games in a row.
Unless there is DLC, I am not hopeful ):
Like someone said a bit earlier, if there were more than there were in the Nintendo of America leak, we'd have seen at least one of them now, most likely.

The game won't last as long because the Wii U won't last as long. We also know that the Ice Climbers were in the game at some point, and no programmer I know would cut out something they'd implemented out unless someone in marketing told them they needed feature parity.

Was he difficult to unlock in Brawl? I thought he was easy to get via SSE.

I think he's more suggesting that they should have done a different Final Smash for the characters as a whole rather than that every Koopaling should get their own. Something like an airship going and bombing the stage would have fit the whole set more than Shadow Mario.
But I kinda like the idea that the Magic Paintbrush can let anyone change into Shadow Mario and that Jr. just let the rest of the Koopalings borrow it.

People seriously believe there could be more characters than the leak, given that not a single streamer has found one despite getting everyone except Rob (If I've been following the conversation correctly).

They don't look like anything in Animal Crossing, that's for sure. I think they made them wider so they could function as platforms, too.
I'm really glad R.O.B is in, but no veteran should be the final character.

Troubled Bat keeps a list, but don't worry too much. Things are too crazy right now, if there's a conflict resolve it later. Just grab it for now if you can.
And no one called most of the alt colors, so those are mostly free.

Duck Hunt Dog could either be another character that unlocks Dr. Mario (in addition to Mario) or it could be that the unlock condition was already met previously but they needed to beat Classic again to challenge another opponent.

That's exactly what I'm saying.
I haven't seen if this is the case yet but if Alph uses the Hocotate ship for his FS I will be similarly confused and disgruntled.
