Was going to Gamefly but after seeing the Gamespot's video I'm definitely going to grab this Day 1 Digital. Looks awesome but they are going to need all the help they can get.

In the Gamespot video they say towards the end that this map is only a section of the game; not the whole game; I really hope there's more.

I like the premise of the game, the mechanics, animations; and the potential for a great experience. So far everything looks really good.

I refuse to get hyped about anything. I learned long ago hype is dangerous. While this game does look like something, it's just not for me and it's an EA game. Nope.

It looks like they still have quite an area to uncover to the south. However, that map doesn't mean much without context.

The nemesis system sounds interesting in theory, but hearing the game is basically batman combat from previews... wouldn't that make it pretty much irrelevant? Never had any trouble with any enemy encounter on standard difficulties in batman games.

Preordered mine @ amazon uk after seeing it's much cheaper than eu mainland (40 vs 50 €). Great :) I'm really looking forward to the game :)

All I see is a lot of hot air + ac combat, trying to put some lore meaning or 'consequences' to the goons you are A B ing down.
It's just a distraction from what the game is, and it seems people who played it are figuring that out.

If I'm wrong you can quote this and point and laugh after release

Will do, champ.

Then maybe you should look a little deeper...

Exactly. People who have had extensive hands-on have made it clear that this is not Assassin's Creed. There is a lot more going on with just the Nemesis system alone. But then there is all the mounts, etc.

As far as the combat goes, it is supposed to feel more like the Arkham series. But some previews have said that it goes even deeper with the wraith and ranger abilities you can pick and choose from, which there are supposed to be quite a few of. Some have even said that it might even feel better than playing the Batman games.

Also, people should not worry about it being some mindless button masher, as enemies will vary and have many different weakness that you must exploit. I have seen developers on the game screw up and get caught. Which of course makes the orc grow in power and even remember you.

I agree with you.

I would like to have an idea of the scope of the game before I put my money down, and then realize that the rest of the open world is attached to some upcoming DLC.

I think based of what I've seen so far, it has the potential to be a fun experience (by "we" I mean people who like this type of games); and I hope it delivers.
I am hyped already, my day one buy will be based on getting a bit more information.

This game looks like AC with a LOTR skin gameplay wise.

The same combat (flashy animations, zero depth) and AC style climbing...

Apparently you never played Assassin's Creed then. The combat in SoM seems to be more similar to the Batman Arkham freeflow combat system. Which is easy to pick up for button mashers, but actually has tons of depth for those who want to really understand it.

Will do.

The hands on impressions are glowing after all, not sure where you've got that idea from.

It's doing some interesting stuff with regards to the 'Nemesis' system but I still don't think it looks good enough for a day one purchase. I'm not a huge Lord of the Rings fan though so a lot of that appeal is lost on me.

The spider parts of the LOTR and Hobbit series' are some of my favourite parts. Loved Shelob vs Sam in LOTR and the spider scene was fun in DoS.

Why is the Xbox One version of this three pounds cheaper at Amazon UK? I think I'd probably pre-order right now if it was that price on PS4.

It was cool and creepy hearing them speak in the hobbit, isn't 3 pounds like 3 dollars?

I watched a 40 minute video from Gamescom on Sony's twitch.tv channel (featuring two members from the dev team talking about the game while one was playing it) which was enough to sell me on this game. Prior to this I thought the game was some rote hack n slash, but the comparisons to Batman Arkham Asylum and Assassin's Creed was very apparent to me. And it was such that I felt confident that the game was doing more than just copying these game mechanics.

I am excited, particularly after the let-down from Destiny (I guess I will have to change my avatar).

Do we know the games length yet? I need to see how much time I have before all the big November releases.

I read somewhere is it 10-13 hours but that can't be true.

The mounts look like a lot of fun, especially like that they can scale places.

Dude, you're the .gif master.

The movement system looks amazing! I love being able to mantle in games. Neat to see that creatures can do it, too. Awesome!

Universal rules and reliable systems are so important to games. I hate when everything is instanced. There's always going to be some of that, but when it can be avoided I appreciate it.

I don't have the timestamp, but at some point in this video the lead designer said they were shooting for about 20 hours.

I think it was in the Gamespot video where they said it was going to be a 40+ hour game.

Again, no timestamp, but the comments in this video mention 40 hours. That's crazy if they were able to beef it up that much.
