Where did you read it's guaranteed to do 100k?

What is with new members coming into the sales threads campaigning against something that is very clearly set in stone.

You cannot be serious with "Let's see what happens to the Xbox 360" right?
I think the poor XB1 sales were in line with expectations and no surprise to anybody. The only question that remains is how bad exactly they are going to be. If XB1 drops below XB360 in less than 12 weeks then that will be a new quality of "bad". I guess that equates to Microsoft losing face or something.

I'd imagine 3pd is looking for a loophole in that exclusivity contract they signed. I thought the Xbone would do badly, but not 3k week two bad.

The jury's still out?

It's Japan.

It's the Xbox.

It sold 3K it's second week.

Good grief, how deluded can people get.

The first two bits of information are enough to conclude it's DOA.

Who's saying the Xbox One is not dead? I mean sure, if they decide NOW to randomly throw money all over the place, MAYBE they can get on a "decent" track, but that's not going to happen. Just look at China, they treat that way better than Japan.

Oh my god what the hell happened to the One? Jesus I was expecting 10k, maybe 8k at the worst.

You know what, I'm upset at Microsoft right now. The 360 sold close to 2 million units in Japan. They had good will and a good library of games and they pissed it away. They let exclusives like Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata slip away from them, and they had no software ready at launch. Not to mention releasing the console a year later. Japan was clearly not a priority. Imagine if they released the One day-and-date with Titanfall back in March? It would have been HUGE! This is Microsoft's own fault, no two ways about it.

Well yeah. China is a much larger potential market going forward and since it's less firmly established in the hands of Sony or the like there's certainly more room to grow as well.

They didn't let Tales of Vesperia go. It sold 230k. Console Tales sell around 600k. That was bound to happen.

Smash had killed my monthly expectations in less than a week. Nice :p

Oh XB1. It's been fun!

Hold on Vita. Still well up over last year, but last year had some big guns coming in the last few months (2000; VitaTV; God Eater; Final Fantasy). I still think it'll be up YoY, but only just...

Incredible Smash sales. Really good for Destiny too.

Incidentally, is GTA V releasing in November in Japan too? It's doing well on PS3; Sony should try and push it on PS4 a bit.

I'm not sure I thought there would be anyone on this planet who would have reacted this way towards the predictable results we've seen.

I have a feeling the 3DS success might mean less sales for the WiiU first week :(

Incidentally, COMG showed two people cancelled their Smash Wii-U pre-order the day after (or a couple of days after) the 3DS version released.

Obviously not a big enough sample size to conclude anything, but still quite an amusing observation.

At least it has Phantasy Star Nova

They couldn't release it in march, they had to do translations for The Store, OS, and Kinect. Not to mention PS4 launched late as well for similar reasons.

Eternal Sonata was not exclusive to the 360 in japan if no mistaken.

Also they really could not do anything, Nintendo Wii was surprising everyone, and the other big games already had deals with Sony. Before hand. Only way it could have worked if those games sold well in the west, they did not for the most part.

That's because
they learned about Dark Pit and the removal of Ice Climbers

GTA V (PS4) and Minecraft (PS4/V) haven't been confirmed yet.

Someone said God Eater 2 Burst is this holiday? Is this true?

I just checked. The preview for God Eater 2 Rage Burst Famitsu just put up still has no date other than "this Winter". Maybe there'll be a release date at TGS. Or maybe they aren't sure yet.

Well, look at how the other consoles in the market are performing and then consider how the Xbox has historically stacked up to them.

That's the thing, other consoles were flopping so there was more of an opportunity for the One to fill the void.

Let's look at last gen: ~12m Wii, ~10m PS3, ~2m 360. Fairly reasonable sales if not completely healthy.

This gen: Wii U will be <5m, PS4 is a question mark. Had the Xbox One kept up 360's momentum and sold 2-3m, we would have had at least a sustainable console ecosystem. If both the Wii U and the One flop, there's no way the PS4 can carry the console market by itself.

What this means is that Xbox One sales this week pretty much cements the death of consoles in Japan. Y'all should be more upset about this.

This has to be sarcasm.

People were already upset before the One release. It's the other way you know: the market is not doomed because the expected big loser failed, but because the potential winners are also failing.

While I think a lot of what you're posting now is sarcasm, 1.65M is not 2M. 360 sold less than 20,000 units up to this point last year and is down by more than half YOY. I highly doubt they break the 1.7M mark. Assuming that the XB1 could sell even the same as 360 which had such a strong Japan-centric push relative to the XB1 is entirely misguided although again I am assuming a lot of this was sarcasm

I know I'm going to regret asking this but what is the source for all this information? I know some sites detail pre-order numbers but the Chinese MS store does not from what I can tell and accounts for about half of the total. Also how the hell does someone go about estimating "offline pre-orders"? Especially important when it makes up 20% of your total

Edit: Found the original source as a rumor from some chinese forum I think? Still no clarification to how MS store numbers or offline pre-orders are determined

Upside, inside out he's livin la vida loca, He'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca
So SSB43DS is Nintendo largest opening for a non-Pokemon game, right?

X1 will probably not even outsold the first Xbox

Are we looking at the same sales of Yo-kai Watch? Let alone many doubted it would give a boost at all since it was supposed to have an established fanbase at the system.

This argument becomes boring. One month from now we'll know who's right and who's wrong.

By the way if there wasn't Smash, 3DS would have fallen to 4 digits by now.

Yo-kai Watch had a bigger fanbase, but it still outsold its predecessor total sales in the first week and gave the system a modest jump (compared to MH and Pokemon) of a little over 100%.

I think it is much more likely the HW boost by Smash suffers more from selling to the same fanbase than n3DS. Sales dropped by just 20% (Famitsu) 21% (Media Create) from W35 to W36 despite W36 being a full week post n3DS announcement (both trackers showed growth from W34 to W35). Unless Nintendo had a huge marketing push for n3DS that I didn't know about I seriously doubt 3DS sales would have gone below 20k let alone hit four digits.

Sales for 3DS will of course decline as the release of n3DS comes (why else would they drop 20% W36), but I think its effect is over blown. I dunno what we'll learn in a month other than n3DS selling a ton of units first week :p

Dec 11 2014 on PS4/XB1 in Japan. 7400yen. The PC version will also be released in Japan, on the same date as the rest of the world - Jan 27 2015.
Do they track PC games BTW? I'm guessing not as I've never seen them, if retail copies of PC games are even sold in Japan.

3DS sales remained relatively consistent because there were big launches.
Dragon Quest X and now Super Smash Bros for 3DS.

Which is why them announcing New 3DS when they did was the best move.

DQX only sold 50k launch week though.

I agree.

First week > 2nd week (Famitsu)

Xbox 123.929 > 37.147 (-70.0%)
X360 62.135 > 12.320 (-80.2%)
XB1 23.562 > 3.574 (-84.8%)

Weeks till <1000

X360 40
Xbox 13
XB1 ???

Final LTD's

Superior Tracker (Famitsu):

Xbox: 473K
Xbox 360: 1615K
Xbox One: 23K to xxxK

I think XB1 will probably fall to 3 digit weekly sales in week 4 at absolute latest

I'm guessing 100k - 150k LTD unless something major changes

Comgnet retail chain: preorder stats / comparisons, as of September 3rd, 2014

[Wii] Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition - 23pt*
[WiiU] Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko - 22pt

[PS3] Bayonetta - 183pt**
[360] Bayonetta - 55pt**
[WiiU] Bayonetta 2 - 19pt

* = Comg preorder pts from 2011/2012
** = Comg preorder pts up to 2010

Note: Comgnet's ratio between actual sales and pts has grown overall in the past year / years, and older preorder points are not as reliable for comparisons as most recent ones, especially if they are from years and years ago

The new Fatal Frame is only tracking as well as Fatal Frame 2 Wii? Oh great =(. And super sad for Bayo 2... I really hope your note saves these titles a bit.

Oh missed that. So it at least solidifies the existence of Minecraft on PS4/V. Now the big question is if it gets a retail release.

Also, really curious why they bothered with Toukiden PSP for those piddly 20k sales. PS4 Toukiden sales would've been multiple times that :|

Just look at China, they treat that way better than Japan.
In China, Microsoft appears set to partially re-introduce the anti-consumer policies ([thread=867470]region lock[/thread], [thread=896228]DRM against used games[/thread], not confirmed yet) that they had to backtrack on in the West. Even the fact that they tried to pull that off hurts their brand to this day. How Microsoft believes this will fly in China is beyond my imagination.
it seems that those comments hurt you.
Umm, no? But thanks for asking.

- Smash smashed the charts.
- Yo-Kai Watch keeps watching its sales increase.
- 3DS bump is relatively small, i predict big bumps during N3DS release, for both HW and software (mostly Smash). People are waiting.
- At last a game sold PS4s, even though it's not destined to last.
- WiiU stable as always.
- X1 has a glorious second week. I actually am shocked it sold 3k.
