No. Literally friends journeying across the world to get the one bro to meet his girl.

And then the game begins!...

Ultimate mind blown

But seriously, I like how the "Almost there" showing a big ass moon in the background foreshadows that they might almost be there as in reaching Luna, but also that maybe they might actually have to go to the Moon to reach Luna!

I hope they go to the Moon for my fantasy itch to be scratched; just imagine an next gen moon world to explore with monster galore!

I know it probably won't happen but it'd be nice if you could play online with 3 other friends instead of AI.

Terra and Celes, Luna and Stella, hoping they will be good...

I'm probably not giving Square enough credit on this front. When I think about it, the FF series has probably been better than most at portraying a diverse array of female characters. Faris, Terra, Celes, Yuna, Ashe, hell I'd say even Garnet and Eiko. They're all pretty interesting, well developed characters.

From the last dialogue (in Japanese) lit. "Sorry to keep you waiting... just a little more."

The way he says this, the tone, the words. I felt it. ;_;

As they hinted with the whole interpretation thing, the gods will likely be shown differently than they were in FFXIII. That's the whole thing regarding FNC, after all, different take on one shared mythos. Who knows, they might not even be machine-like(like Pulse in FFXIII looking like a giant living robot), but actual "classical" looking gods(like Greek mythology).

I hope the God's thing is subdued and the focus is on the human conflict.

But I wouldn't be too bothered if they do come into play at one point of another.

I think in this game all the Gods are in some sleep or likely dead.

I think the focus will on the crystaru this time.

You really haven't played many FF games, have you? While it's true, goblins HAVE been in a LOT, the old school design has been dead for while. Let me show you a little something:

FFVI's version of goblins were presented as chubby mechanic-types:
Unseelie-ffvi-ios.png

FFVII's goblins, I like to call, "Hip Hop Goblins" were designed by Nomura to look "hip":

FFIX's goblins are heavily inspired by the FFVII ones:

FFXI's look different altogether:
Goblin_NM1_%28FFXI%29.png

FFXIII's look like they took inspirations for the Mag Roaders:
FFXIII_enemy_Goblin.png

However, the classic look seen before FFVI, mainly based on Amano's FFII design seem to be the direct inspiration for FFXV's goblins:

There's really no disputing that these ARE old school FF goblins. Hell, design dating back to 1988. If that's not old school, I don't know what is.

I'm saying that slapping a goblin on a game doesn't make it "old school".

I've played every single (almost) Final Fantasy game there is and it is my favorite series of all time.

I recall SE saying they wanted FF15 to be the Versus Saga. So multiple stories in this
universe. Expect a sequel of some sort (FF15-2?).
They did, but Nomura said that you can expect FFXV to have a clear ending and not end up in a cliffhanger. The example I can think of what he means would be that FFXV is about Noctis going in pursuit of the people who steal the crystal of his country and FFXV will end with that final crystal being destroyed (in the end, maybe to stop some evil dude from using its power for ultimate domination by becoming an all-powerful god or something cliched like that). FFXV-2 would then be about some new threat in a world that is coping to live without any crystals.

The picture where all of them are having a barbecue together says otherwise. They initially described it as a road-trip game, too.

I certainly hope that's the case. I would just be surprised if it was considering earlier talk about getting airships and all...seems like an indication that the road-trip doesn't last forever.

I wouldn't mind honestly. As long as it doesn't become a

"you are the key to resolving the war and you have to fight the emperor, who is actually a god in disguise"

I'd rather it just be a running away self-contained story in the middle of the war. The war will have a focus of course, but I'd rather it just be a background menace that you have no direct influence on the outcome outside of being a key political figure.

Yeah see that's exactly what I think will happen...because that's basically what always happens. I completely agree that I'd rather it be that smaller-focused story. It would be a lot more interesting and unique.

I'll agree that the character designs are generic. But if you think this is the first time there have been inconsistent and wacky world design choices, you have clearly never played a Final Fantasy game. Almost every single game has had inconsistent settings.

I have played all of them except the onlines and XII.

All the FF worlds have been very contrasted, but always consistent. Like you wouldn't find a car that could belong to the Queen of England next to a 1000 feet behemoth surrounded by skycrappers and crystal shards.

Sure, we had the Daytona, the Trains in FF8, and all kind of vehicles in every FF. But their design always matched the world they were in. Motherfucking Magitech, anyone?

Perhaps FFIV with the Hovercraft could be a precedent. But do I need to say that this fancy black cabrio seems to have (judging by this trailer) much more protagonism?

Honestly, when I look at the FFXV trailers I'm not sure about what kind of world to expect. The game keeps looking like a random mix of assets. Of course, every final fantasy has a world full of contrast, but I think this time they took it too far. That's just my opinion!

I'm not going to say that this is a big issue, of course. I'll just be patient and wait to play the goddamn thing, expecting that the world makes sense once I'm playing in it. So there's no need to hate guys.

That character design, tho...

Let's remember how hyped we got after each FFXIII trailer and keep our expectations in check.

Love how the music from the 2nd half of the trailer is more playful than what we heard of the soundtrack so far. Still can't make heads or tails out of the battle system though.

This game's visuals have definitely seen a post since the last reveal. The character models appear to approach the quality shown by the Luminous Agni's Philosophy tech demo. The environments however do not. I love seeing the giant open play spaces, but I hope these spaces or appropriately varied and diverse in geography and density of foliage, rock formations, and overall terrain structure.

Either way, graphical quality of this is beyond amazing. FFXV, The Order 1886, and Uncharted 4 are absolute graphical powerhouses. Let's just hope the gameplay will match up to the visuals.

Noctis' voice acting is really well done.I love it.

I really hope the english voice direction is superb and not generic English anime like.

I wonder what the frame rate going to be ?
Hopefully with time got left they make it 1080p since the IQ not that great .
Looking forward to see it with better effects and some more AA.

The people saying last year's showing looked better graphically are crazy. Ya'll are just mixing up graphics with a more aesthetically pleasing environment.

The skin shaders, hair rendering and textures, character geometry, and overall lighting are a huge step up in the recent footage.

The press release doesn't confirm that the demo will be available on March 17, but it doesn't hint otherwise either. I wonder when we'll get it...

This is how I am going at it. Trying not to get too hyped, its nice to see new stuff too.

One thing I just noticed that I thought was pretty neat was that when Noctis was low on health, one of his bros actually leaned over and helped him up off the ground.

And if the female characters interact well with each other is refreshing, instead of being pitted against each other. Tifa (AC), Rinoa, Garnet and Yuna (+voice) were motion acted by Mayuko Aoki, I wonder if she is going to be back for Stella since her being the main girl is sort of an FF tradition.

that trailer gave me a sense of nostalgia. weird idk why. Just reminds me of the old school adventures and romance from JRPGs but also some older anime too.

By the way, what happened to the command menu and the weapon switch HUD?

I wonder if it's completely gone and if those systems are still in...

Ugh, I think I've outgrown outrageous anime hair on my protagonists. Also, some of those fight scenes make me cringe a bit; it's all teenage-fight-like, with tumblings and alley-oops off each other.

That aside, am cautiously optimistic. It looks good, but then so did FFXIII when it was introduced. It didn't feel like FF for me, until the Prelude at the end. We'll see how this goes.

And please, someone change the name of the thread to "You really haven't played any FF games before, have you?". Seems to be the hot thing here!

no body is claiming the game will be old school in the full sense of the word.

This is a completely new take on the series. Its pretty much unprecedented.

But undoubtedly there are legacy design elements all over the place.Which is always a good thing.

If this is Nomura's vision, though. It's a darn beautiful.

It's such a shame he had to part.

Perhaps his imprint and vision is withstanding mostly, and he is moving on to begin design and development for Final Fantasy XVI?

They gotta start preliminary R&D sometime, right?

Good eye! I'm looking forward to the coming weeks when people find more details like this in the trailer.

The skin shaders,
The skin is the first big improvement I noticed in this trailer. Last year's looked a bit more corpse-like. Now you can see some pink highlights and shading that look more lifelike.

Both this and Type-0 have horribly directed trailers compared to S-E's past efforts. I wonder why and what changed. That said game looks graphically appealing, too bad the trailer sucks imho.

This game looks so similar to XIII if you put two screenshots side by side and showed them to someone they would probably say it is the same game.

It especially shows when you have Nomura, who likes to reuse the same (or very similar) faces and hairdos across multiple games.

So car is the new chocobo...

Was car the new Chocobo in FF8?

If you showed random people any two random cartoons, anime, whatever, they might think it's from the same thing. If you showed two people a screenshot of DQ and DBZ, they'd think it was the same thing.

I mean, I disagree with you entirely, but I don't get your argument.

I don't doubt the whole "road trip" bit is just a part of the game, not the entirety. Well, as it is, that is. I think you're going to lose the car at one point and eventually get an airship(remember, they hinted at it).

Also, yeah, I always had a thing for the moon too! Kinda wish there was more than one moon, though. It adds to the surreal fantasy of it all(kinda like FFIV, FFIX and the Ultima series).

The way the grass doesn't render in the distance makes the recent build of the game look ugly

Final Fantasy VIII had Cadillacs. I don't know what it is about the car in this trailer that has your SeeDs in a bunch.

Minus the obvious bullshot quality aa, the gameplay trailer and even the e3 trailer look like hot garbage.
