Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

Never remember anyone mentioning this. The only thing I remember is that Nomura said there will be more party members but not as much as we would expect.

I thought I remembered Nomura mentioning this a little while back (well by "a little while" I mean maybe 1-2 years ago or so). But since he may have been moved on almost completely from the project that may change.

It's true that multiple times we've seen the road end with water, which does seem like a strange detail to show a few times, but given Nomura describing it as being like a road movie, I would be surprised if you get to the end of the road anywhere close to the start of the game, and presumably the trailer is stuff from the demo.

Well, maybe not explicitly, but I look at it from a FFIX kind of perspective. Noctis and Bros are pretty much Tantalus had the crew not got screwed over by plot device, and thus forcing Zidane to team up with the ragtag crew of eccentrics he meet on his journey.

And I fully expect a plot device part-way through the story to screw the current '4 man crew' over, either killing one of them or splitting them apart.

See, that's why I like it. Too many JRPGs are fixed in fairly typical fantasy settings and it kinda feels like XV is eschewing that.

Yeah I sort of like the grounded fantasy going on here.

You can almost envision yourself driving down the road and suddenly seeing a 200ft. tall crystal out in the distance. Or running across your local field and fighting giant monsters.

It is fantasy, but not. Sort of like that.

Almost like the setting of FFVI where the world began to incorporate technology into the fantasy and it was a very realistic feeling fantasy.

Not having a female main character is interesting to me. It really is one more thing that shows they are trying something new with this title. Screw the haters, let's bro it up.

Man, I really hope that this game has interesting characters or at least one character I can really get behind. I'm very much looking forward to how this game turns out

I'm absolutely fine with what they've shown so far. I just hope that this game makes it out of development hell.

Probably the best hair I've seen in a game.

Hmm in the context of female characters here we have an all men cast looking at rhinos. Male rhinos are known for fighting between each other for females in the mating season. Is this some kind of elaborate foreshadowing?

Yeah, can't say the most BRO Final Fantasy isn't an amusing premise.

Should be the OT title.

But there is no joke/pun there. "Bros before Chocobos" doesn't really work also.

holy shit this..this actually looks amazing..

Getting a strong Xenoblade vibe but i'm ok with that.

Edit: Also what's so wrong about there not being any female characters? I kind of like how it seems they're just 4 dudes on a road trip to save the world. I'm sure there's more to it than that though.

What are the chances for Square releases the new song of the trailer?

Probably low, took ages for Omnis Lacrima to be officially released and that was on Yoko's latest collection CD (Memoria!). The one guarantee from this game is the awesome OST which is the one thing that this new footage and demo info gets me hyped about.

Graphics are insane. Really liking the world design.

I just need more battle footage to get a better sense of things. It looks like the system got slower, which isn't really a good thing.

Still no issue with Bro Fantasy XV plus got bets Ignis (glasses guy) is going double cross them seems to be ff villain type.

They could go left field and Zell mk2 is the traitor

I was just making fun of the notion that the only way a women could ever enter this manly group of manly men is through a plot twist. Them being bros and all. It seems that the notion that men can't have female friends is strong here.

those hairdos are the tits

no femc is actually really surprising for a FF game, hopefully that isn't actually the case

In the game? Of course there will be females

As playable, while I think they will , there might not be. Remembered the last 3 non mmo ff's had female protagonists.

They could just have made dude brodicus and his dude bro adenture. FF is a series that not only puts women in the fore front of its narratives, has no issues making them protagonists. While I myself have been in many a neogaf thread arguing for the inclusion of more and better portrayed women and minorities ( I myself being the latter) in video games and have taken very hard and assertive stances on that front. In the case of FF, I wouldn't exactly mind dude brodicus and his dude bro adventure. FF don't gotta any issue for the most part making ladies playable in their games.

Surprised at the blind faith for SE around here. FFXIII looked pretty awesome in early trailers as well.

Final Fantasy fandom runs deep in some of us.

I'm not convinced it won't be a mess borne out of a protracted development hell, but it's exciting to see it become a real thing.

Oh well, it seens I'll be watching this trailer over and over till i get tired of the song then, err nevermind, the song is so awesome that such thing is impossible.

Wow, this thread is moving fast - I walk my dog and the thread has moved on five pages.

Anyway, thanks for the response on airships / world map. I'll watch the video tonight.

To be honest it never did, they never showed a trailer that shows the locations...etc just cut scenes and battles.

The only thing that impressed me back then was this screen shot

The Final Fantasies have a way of making you forgive their past sins. The fact that they're unrelated, a new universe each time, and that they have a constantly shifting creative team behind them, makes it easy to say "oh, well XIII sucked, but that doesn't matter". I didn't play XI, I think XII sucked, I didn't think XIII was very good, I skipped XIV, even X pales compared to VII, VIII and IX. There hasn't been a great one since '00, fourteen years of mediocrity hasn't been enough to beat that rabid fandom out of me, so I'd be surprised if XV being shit would break the camel's back.

... I'm kinda mixed that Noctis looks too much like Sasuke. i hope this game is nothing like FF13 with Hallways Galore. Crossing my fingers that this game lives up to the hype. I wanna be Hyped but not too Hyped.

Why would it be? It's pretty clear that Square has learned its lesson, with both XIII-2 and (in particular) Lightning Returns having less and less hallways. Kingdom Hearts has never had many hallways either.

Who started it and who is finishing it allows me to have some belief this will be good, along with the basic concepts introduced and the brotrip trailer. Thats weird, thats really weird some would argue most kind of more casual take on the going on an adventure rpg party.

I miss the circling weapons and crystal particle effects..

Hopefully they are still in the game at later stage.

FFXIII also tried very hard to hide its corridorness though. The trailers never once revealed that the game would be so corridor like. The trailers were cut to quickly switch between battles and quick shots of characters walking in locations and what not. No body knew that they were going to be separated into chapters, nobody knew you couldn't return to the old locations. The progress was hidden from the general public.
