Sabagebu! ep 12 FINAL
Dat gunkata.
Dat action.
Dat camaraderie.

What a way to let a grand bang for a final first half episode, the last part sort of a troll like what Gintama/Nichibros would do. The second half was simple excellent, the whole survival club finally fuck over Momoka and sacrifice her, Momoka finally got her just desserts. Eye for an Eye indeed narrator.

I daresay this is the comedy of the season with Nozaki-kun coming in second.

Sonokawa Momoka = character of the year.

Awesome that Baby Steps got another season. Now we wait for the announcement of Haikyuu S2.

Baby Steps should continue right now has ton of material, Haikyuu ends around chapter 70, with 126 chapters, while I haven't found where Baby Steps ends, i can say this it probably around 80 chapters and the manga is at 232..

I don't know why but outside of the very good writing, characters, production value, and what not I can't seem to think this is a good show.

Wake Up, Girls! 05

That's some good planning there.

And it goes like it has to, lots of people at the I-1 Club concert and almost nobody at the WUG one. Not helping is the fact that the WUG does horribad at the show, and there's some happenings in the past that's surfacing again as well.

Argevollen 11-12

Well that was a great deal of development and back story, really helps to explain the actions of our lead and his boss. Thought the writing was really good especially in episode 12, very surprised how much this series has grown on me.

Sophie's teammates are high schoolers... For some reason I didn't think you'd see one here. They've been there for 10 years too, so for practically all their lives.

Meanwhile Lala and Mirei have gotten their 3rd member after some... Interesting auditions.

Hm... Looks like that got released earlier this week?

Either it's something else or just more of it?
I know I just said I wanted more FMP, but not like this.

I don't know why but outside of the very good writing, characters, production value, and what not I can't seem to think this is a good show.

It doesn't seem to have much of its own voice, it is a competent series for the most part, but also fairly generic.

I take it this is sarcasm?

edit:
So dabbled into Mangaka-san to Assistant-san after seeing it mentioned here once again and because I've heard a lot about it. And well, I'm rather disappointed this is a show that relies on your awfully generic ecchi-humor with focus on a complete moron character which apparently is funny to some. Because haha, stupid is automatically funny even if zero effort is put in, right? Right?

Also the Voice Actor also voices Kirito which just demonstrated to me that SAO DOES have a negative influence on my enjoyment of other shows because there are associations like this. Also, voicing this more silly character, I'm probably right in assuming this guy was always voicing the one especially obnoxious dude from Planetes?

Now I'm not even saying he's doing a bad job, but being remembered of Kirito will always be a negative :/

Now I'm 2 episode in, I'll try a third episode but if it doesn't change somewhat drastically, which I don't expect, it'll be dropped.

Ojamajo Doremi 43-47

Its taken me a while but I'm almost done with this first season KirbYuuYuu. I still hate you for making me like this. These first 47 episodes have been great and I expect the same out of these last few.

I have to say, the biggest compliment I can give this show is that every character that is supposed to be likeable actually is. The show has quite a bit of energy. Honestly, though, I thought it was at its best as a general slice-of-life style show. So, when the plot started to kick in at the end of the season, I started to enjoy it a little less. That being said, it was well worth the watch.

Well, he voiced Sora in No Game No Life at least. That's where I remembered the same kind of voice from.

Nozaki-Kun is the show that Manga Artist wished it could have been.

Yeah. Fino is a super cutie. Cant wait to buy that series. Really liked all of it.

will there be new shows starting this week? Just realized quite a few shows ended last week.
Near the end of the week after as shows start in October.

That is straight up cruelty for new-season longing FMP fans if true. :( That can't seriously be what it is, can it?

You mean it's cruel for international fans who don't have the other material being translated. I'm sure FMP fans in Japan love the additional material being made for them even if they want a new season. At least they're getting new material unlike other franchises.

The last backlog in this loosely-themed "block" was something that looked like it was part of World Masterpiece Theater, but was never featured on it. I haven't seen Doremi yet, and I'm going to be a Precure fan for as long as they continue to make it, but there was the stopgap year of 2003, between one franchise and another. When talking dinosaurs and Orphenocs held down Super Hero Time, there was something else alongside them.

A long, long time ago, about 100 years ago. This? This is the story of a young girl who traveled beyond the Door of Destiny

Ashita no Nadja 01-05 (England Arc)

I've done my research. This show was inspired by 70s anime, but it feels equally inspired by the kinds of classic literature that were adapted for WMT. There are signs that it's an original series, such as Nadja's belongings also being highly merchandisable - and I'm certain her baton is being used by Yuyu today - and the presence of Kennosuke, the requisite Japanese character to anchor the audience a bit, but other than that, it's got a look that I don't see in a lot of anime.

It looks like some of the staff from Doremi worked on this. I'm also noticing what have to be some of the earliest examples of CG dancing in anime. Or at least it looks CG, I can tell the backgrounds are very nearly traced over photos at points. There was some weird perspective issues going on with Nadja's dance in episode 2, but they were largely smoothed over by the time she started dancing for real.

Giving away the plot detail that Nadja is related to royalty so early in the show was a bit unexpected. It does give concrete motivation for why those two thugs are chasing her, and it also shifts how she's going to react when the time comes. A slight bit of dramatic distance for irony, mostly in episode 5. Everyone mistakes her for royalty, but the one person who sees her in her mother's dress is fine with treating her as a commoner because she sees him differently. It's only been one arc and the main themes of the series are already revealing themselves.

Black Rose definitely gives some minor Tuxedo Mask vibes (or I suppose he's like Brian from Gosick with more of a Robin Hood bent), and the members of the Dandelion Troupe are all pretty lovable. Though I don't think lion cubs are supposed to develop their manes that early. They are super super adorable, however.

Love the OP, and the ED is pretty catchy, too. That's another reason I was curious about this one. Amisuke's first major role in anime. It's Western-style children's literature as interpreted by Japan. Though in a time slot that usually holds magical girls, it has no magic. But it's not above a bit of magic realism, like the moment where Francis and Nadja were overtaken by the storm of rose petals.

And it uses a lot of classical music, and I just finished Tutu not that long ago. They complement each other well.

Lrph9d0.jpg

There's also this. Much classier - and closer related - than the Code Geass version.

I'm only getting started, but this is an easy show to watch, and I already feel like it has something to say. Onward, to sate my curio-sity.

Yeh I was actually just having this train of thought about how much more I 'learned' of manga creation from Nozaki-Kun when I expected this Manga Artist anime to explore that much more :/

Quality of humor comparison isn't even necessary. Nozaki-Kun is actually funny and I'm not even a fan of that type of show.

Crest of the Stars Episode 6:

Now this was an episode that was firing mostly on all cylinders, as it brought the usual masterclass of world building and built it up until it became an very integral part of the ending conversation. Also, this time around they didn't sacrifice the sense of urgency for the most part as Lafiel never lost sight that they have to get the hell out of there with haste. That being said, I didn't really enjoy the fact that Lafiel and Jinto really couldn't connect the most obvious dots behind the Baron's intentions. Aiso, when does Jinto stop sucking or is this a case of he is alos going to be an annoyingly boring plank of wood?

Majin Bone 24-25

The new villain looks crazy, and of course that BETRAYALTON was more or less unexpected. Even though the show is mostly cg action done by Toei it actually looks good and is fun to watch.

What

The guy who acted way smarter and way more experienced this his age who always had access to crazy new magic was actually a secret agent

Whaaat

This is such a crazy twist I'm shocked no one guessed it

Waking up to FMP news was nice. People shouldn't be expecting it to be a straight up anime announcement though.

Personally I'm expecting more material in maybe text or manga format.

It's interesting that you say this, because that actually brings up something I remembered reading with regards to interior layouts in anime. When PA Works was talking about their work on Eccentric Family, they mentioned that most of their layouts, especially for interiors (rooms, etc) are all done in 3DCG first. But they did mention that when Toshiyuki Inoue worked on his scenes, he did all the layouts himself in 2D. That's because he's that good.

Layouts are hard work. The layout of a scene will determine how it is animated by the actual animator, but it is usually not done by the animators themselves these days. The reason is that it requires a lot of experience to have a good understanding of perspective and space, and that's something which is lacking in young animators.

That's why many studios these days do layouts in 3DCG. So even if the scenes themselves are hand drawn, they're based on CG layouts because it's an effective way to get perspective and space done right. I suppose this is also why a lot of background work these days in anime are CG, since it's easier not to fuck up.

This is another one of those things which I think most viewers take for granted, because it's usually not something which really enhances a show much if done right, since it would just look normal, but if there are jarring errors it becomes very obvious.
Very interesting. Makes sense that such techniques would be used these days.

Either it's something else or just more of it?

My understanding is that it's just the tabletop. However Shikidouji's tweet does imply there might be more. She mentions she can't talk about it but she tweeted earlier about the tabletop. Gatoh stated on the Amagi Nico stream earlier this week that they have no plans for a S4 and not to expect it any time soon. That said if they were actually working on the show, I can't imagine he would give a different answer.

It's not going to be a new anime. You poor FMP fans keep hurting yourselves.

Can't have despair without hope.

The 80s movie-style homages were a lot funnier than you'd think they'd be.
Everyone dying with Momoka looking on was pretty funny but the statue crying made me lose it

Urara ends up being the final victor, for better or for worse.

Show was somewhat inconsistent in the middle episodes but when it hit a home run it hit it hard. Definitely an unexpected hit for this season. Momoka is the best MC there ever was.

I haven't been following one piece (I'm waiting for a good backlog of two seasons to build up). Can you elaborate just a little in SPOILER TAGS what your excited about? :)

A yonko/emperor, an admiral, a shibukai/warlord, and a revolutionary have all shown up for an all out battle

Should give you enough of an idea

Irregular At Magic High 25

So our MC can just restore anyone... so then injury/death has no impact for no one in this series? :|

They couldn't end on a cliff hanger to at least make us pretend they weren't going to be magically healed right away? Bahhh come on

Lala's and Mirei's partner wasn't so solidified as she tries to sneak her sister on board, and even tried to kick Lala out to let her legally fit in... Sheesh. Regardless though, thanks to Lala's interference, Sophie got what she truly wanted. And we got a new song to boot.

I disagree with you on all accounts regarding these aspects.

Characters are caricatures, one-dimensional, or completely non-existent (like Akame).

Writing is nothing spectacular. Depending on your mood, it could be stupidly exagerrated, or mildly amusing.

Production values fluctuate. It's not a cheap show, but it has some of the lamest fight choreography I've ever seen. Every fight devolves into sword slapfights. :\

All in all, it's an inoffensive adaptation for newcomers and fans. Certainly not the disaster that the Magi adaptatio was.

DRAMAtical Murder Episode 12

Could have kissed or something but
hospital bed
was good enough. Noiz looked fantastic in the epilogue too, conflicted on what is his best, regular outfit or that,

Ending was rather weak but expected based on all that happened.

Nozaki 12 + Final Thoughts

My overall final thoughts are that I enjoyed it, I can see why others enjoyed it, but it's not one of my favorites of the season. Mostly because I prefer things with a mostly female cast. The metahumor and the comedic timing was pretty enoyable here, but at the same time, I like Yuuichi Nakamura better when he's not playing deadpan characters.

Like you're one to talk ...

Yes it was totally your fault your boyfriend cheated on you. Thankfully all it took to get his interest back was a transparent shirt. Makoto really grows ever more disgusting with each episode.

Hopefully after that ending Katsura stops being a pushover. Half of that demented school is in need of some serious stabbing to the chest.
