Well, not going to say that Seo starts are the most imaginative out there, but this was a fairly uninteresting premise.
Way more graphical than I expected, right off the bath. The art is clearly rougher than his more recent works, but recognizable, especially the faces.

While the author takes many liberties (in good way) with Kingdom. he can't stray too far from history, especially the ones that well recorded, and highlighted in the Grand Historian Record such as this. If there is any liberty, it'll probably how event unfold and the conclusion of Lu Buwei and Zeng's mother life.

Alright, man..... where to start.


First of all these translations fucking suck. I legit wish there was a reasonable way to get the volumes without paying over the odds for second hand copies of the Del Rey releases. I honestly wonder how some of these people can credit themselves as proofreaders when hardly an ounce of proofreading has gone into this. If they did you wouldn't get shit like "It makes me hard to breathe".

Anyway. Yamato is honestly not that shit of a main character so far. I guess he's kinda bland, but he's not a dickhead at least.

The setup is... a thing. Dude moves to the city and will live in a public bath house/dorm for women only. Yep. Sounds like a Seo Kouji manga alright. Tits aplenty. You can definitely see how his art has evolved in his later series though. Half & Half in particular. The art in Suzuka isn't necessarily bad, but it's clearly unrefined. Some of it may be the scan qualiy too making it look kinda hokey.

Yasunobu is a piece of shit. He'll probably annoy me a lot honestly, but I guess that's what he's there for.

The fan service duo are pretty funny. dark skinned girl is obviously the better of the two. They'll be good comic relief.

Sakurai has potential. At the moment she's pretty bland. Her reasons for liking him right now are pretty tenuous but at least she's honest I guess.

Then there's Suzuka... man oh man. I'm not sure whether to love her or hate her. She's totally the character trope I like. Tsundere, kinda bitchy etc. etc. However there's just something about her that's not clicking right now. Maybe it's because there's nothing else really to her yet. She just seems kinda nasty.

I'll read more tonight/tomorrow.
