As an old fan (who used to watch Zeta taped off Japanese TV on Betamax at my friends place), I remember the stories when ZZ Gundam came out that Mark Simmons created a ZZZ Gundam thing for their Role Playing Game group to mess with. It's the logical follow-up, right? ;)

We also used to play the Famicom turn-based strategy Gundam games. Man, those were some good times.

[Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ] - 1 to 19

There's just something about a Tomino series that makes it compelling. I can't quite explain why I'm still watching a series which has the following problems:

- Frequent bouts of tonal whiplash.

- No apparent story arc despite being of a serialised nature.

- A script where women are only characterised in the following ways: bitchy, clingy, headstrong or crazy. Did I mention the little girl stuff? Of course, I imagine that by the end of the show they'll all be "victims".

- No clear characterisation for any of the cast (and no, 'rebellious' doesn't count). Nearly any character can do anything at any point for any reason - usually to inject some 'drama' into the proceedings to help create a 'plot'. One of the few characters with any kind of core to him was treated entirely as a joke.

- Everyone in the show is incredibly stupid all the time for no apparent reason.

- The editing lacks any sense of time or place. Whenever we're faced with a location we have no idea where one space connects to another, or how. It doesn't even feel like time exists.

But you keep watching because literally anything could happen next and it will probably involve a cool fight scene. In that sense, it's pure entertainment but based on recent developments I feel the hand of 'serious' Tomino returning which is always a bad sign. The thing that makes the first set of episodes so entertaining is that Tomino doesn't even try for stakes or drama, it's just for fun. As soon as that goes away it's going to be a real drag.

Sounds like Stockholm Syndrome.

Okay, here we go, this is more like it. Women crying, getting smacked around, explosions, self-sacrifice etc etc.

In all seriousness though
wtf was Cecilia doing? I understand that it was supposed to be a heroic sacrifice or something but she could have dropped the bomb anywhere and then jumped off. She could even have stuck it anywhere in the Gundam e.g. in those open ports, or anywhere between the metal plates. Even if she hadn't been there Judua could have taken them all out anyway. Her death wasn't just pointless, it was completely illogical. It literally made no sense besides having a 'tragic event' take place.

Happy 125th Birthday nintendoman58! ;p

Unfortunately I can't remember who it was and maybe they've since changed their avatar but I actually just saw someone in the last couple days with a shaking avatar just like that.

Aaand the tone shift hits.

Nozaki kun episode 12

GOD DAMMIT Nozaki.....you had one freaking job -____- So close and yet so far away. All in all this was a fantastic anime. Only wish that the romance progressed more in the anime than in the manga. Hopefully it will in Season 2.

Figured that it would be the cast that the lead and the "antagonist" of first half would share such similar closedness that they end up having the best link so far, and oddly
Akashi being the want pulling Heito to himself
. All the cockpit scenes for that part were nice.

Mindblown
when Minashi revealed he was necrometalicizing. I thought he'd survive to the end not succumb to this all for Sasame :( ugh. He and Akashi were supposed to silently understand each other even.

Berserk - 02

Backstory time, so we meet this Grifith in the past, Strength VS Dexterity?
Im gonna go on a roll here and bet they become great friends and later Grifith backstabs Guts
See, this is why the first episode of the Berserk anime is the worst. It kinda defeats part of the Golden Age arc's intent.

Also Torres is a complete dick about the whole thing.

Nah man, the Persona 4 porno trumps it.

Persona 4 Golden the Animation warrants a rank higher than X to prevent anybody from watching it.

Re: Hamatora 12 END

Definitely put Hamatora as one of the best 24 episode anime and products of 2014. Could never guess or anticipate how things would fall in place with the antagonist and then when it did it fit logically, well explained, and pretty interesting. At times one would wonder if Hamatora was coherent and such but it always end up being by the time the big event took place. There were many great episodes with individual parts that all felt necessary for this episode.

Nearly got angry at Arts final move...but then the credits and theme played, and wow. So glad everyone at cafe nowhere is back, and Theo!
10.

Psycho-Pass - 21

So yea, I'm a fucking liar; said I'd finish this two weeks ago yet here I am. I need to up my anime game (...anim-ame? Ani-game? Whatever...).

This episode was definitely worth the wait, because it's the best episode yet. I love how Akane has become more hardened and is contributing more plus the reveal of
Masaoka being Ginoza's dad
really threw me off. One episode left, and I hope it delivers.

The real tragedy in this episode is losing Gotton.

Megumi is hilarious and while she's free to date whoever she wants, Ichimiya can't seem to keep up with her. Maybe she just likes to pick on him.

Psycho-Pass - 22/END

A solid final episode that definitely leaves stuff open for the second season, with a lot of unanswered questions and even a new character appearing. Loved that bit at the very end with
Akane and the new character reenacting the beginning of the very first episode
.

--------------------

...and that was Psycho-Pass, A solid sci-fi anime that just misses its grasp from greatness, mainly due to the handling of its characters. It only rectifies this problem very late in the series with some interesting arcs and backstories, but they come off as a bit too late. What was there still did surprise me though, as I was expecting something more on the lines of CSI with a cyberpunk twist, but it starts off with a lot of talk about the strength's and weaknesses of the society with the characters' jobs as detectives kinda taking the backseat to that. It's not until the final episodes it actually becomes "Cyberpunk CSI", especially with the last two episodes, which was where I really thought it was becoming more interesting. Basically I think it needed to mix the two aspects (Cyberpunk CSI and the flaws of the society) a bit better, as it feels like a different show took over in the final third.

Now while I'll admit that I liked 00's first season, I can't say that I'd recommend that show to people. Mostly because of the fact that you'll feel compelled to watch the second season given the way it ends.

And the second season is bad. I liked some parts in it, but it's still bad.

And the 00 Movie is garbage. I couldn't sit through that trash in one sitting.

You won't hear any complaints from me, 00 S2 and the movie are straight trash. Anytime you bring aliens into the mix when they were never present in the first place is a sign you should have stopped a long time ago.

Jeebus, the Rage of Bahamut anime already has infinitely better production values than the game. It looks like a flash game from 2003. As soon as you start the game it shoves "sexy" girls in your face. The anime might actually end up being more restrained in terms of fanservice.

Ao Haru Ride 12 - A nice ending episode. And I guess nice that its wrapped up as just I guess the first act of the manga before stuff gets ramped up. And once again this proves people crying equals me tearing up. Such an easy mark I am. Though why its only in anime I'll never understand.

After contemplating how badly I suck at sticking with one show I dicided to make a list of shit to keep myself organized:

*Rewatch - have started before but once gotten back to will start from the beginning again.
**Currently airing/In-production - will wait until it has finished airing to start.
***Memory Blank - technically should be in Backlog, but I have no memory of what happened in the how, so I treat them as New/Unwatched.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm gonna watch next though. Probably something older since Psycho-Pass was recent.

Sabagebu 12
Add so, another great show from the Summer season ends. A pretty funny epic survival game with the entire cast plus Momoka acting out of character. And then she becomes Urara's birthday present.

Subete no aware
So Hanayamata did the impossible and I'm not really sure how I feel about that. I think I need to think about how I feel about the ending before actually reacting, but I guess I can't actually be mad about what happens.
