They focused more on the scares than the gameplay. It's basically FEAR without the excellence. And yeah, the AI is a step down as well. If anything, FEAR 2 shows us why FEAR is such an instant, incredible classic.

FEAR is probably one of the most unfortunate gaming series of recent memory...
  • FEAR: classic
  • FEAR 2: good, not great
  • F3AR: sweet jesus no
  • FEAR ONLINE: i have no words
  • ???FEARMOBA????: the only place left to go

There's a FEAR Online now?

The original F.E.A.R. has the best shooter gameplay ever, imo. Goddamn, that game was great.

Nope, as far as I know there is no available API to see this. It sure would be handy, though.

FTFY. I've actually got most of it done now. I'm going to port these changes over to Firefox and then hopefully I'll be ready to release by the end of the evening.

Those of us still on the superior web browser appreciate your dedication

The biggest downside of a system like this. I don't ALWAYS want to see games I enjoy sometimes I like seeing other games just to see whats out there.

But that's the thing, that's not even something I'm particularly interested in. For whatever reason, my discovery queue was packed full of games like Day Z, Rust, and the like, and because I viewed the store page for a bunch of games in that style (through my discovery queue), now Steam seems to think that they are my favorite games, and keeps recommending more to me.

Also, I'm so hyped for the Long Dark, but I'm probably gonna wait for it to get out of Early Access. Did the same with Betrayer, and no ragrats.

They're both historical strategy games, not that much of a stretch, even if the gameplay is different.

That's a unit pack DLC. I could understand recommending other DLC for that game, but a separate game in an entirely separate genre of strategy? Steam is cray-cray.

I think it's a deathmatch FPS game that's free-to-play. I've never looked or tried it, to be honest.

Here's some gameplay
if you want to be depressed.

Having 'New Releases' at the very bottom of the page is a terrible idea.

guys my keyboard glopped up so I need a new one. any recommendations? open to anything as long as it at least has:

1) volume control
2) no more than $25(not including tax since we all pay different prices for tax :p)

Microsoft Ergo 4000, assuming you can find one for $25. It usually retails a little higher, but not much.

The non-deluxe version was in the first Indie Royale Debut Bundle. It seems like Groupees just didn't send out the keys yet.

on the game forum the dev said groupees keys will be the deluxe one (that's how it's listed on my groupees page) and one of the admins (shifty slug) said in chat that he emailed the dev but hasn't had a response yet :/

Formerly Alaluef (not Aladuf)
Just pre-ordered The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. I don't pre-order usually but it's pretty close to release and I wanted the soundtrack. Very curious about this one, seems right up my alley and I'm going in blind since I skipped most of the pre-release media. I won't mind if it's relatively short as long as it's good.

So, been playing a wee bit of Euro Truck Simulator, but I think my previous playing of Elite meant that playing an actual trucker couldn't be as fun as being a space trucker for me. But it seems to do a good job of doing what it's trying to do anything. Reverse parking is a bitch though, screw that.

Guys, is anyone up for Gauntlet party?

We have 2 guys, maybe 3 (me and Ravijn for sure), so 1 or 2 slots are free. Anyone?

We can play around 2PM - 10PM NeoGAF time. PM me or something :)

Steam has now recommended a game to me that I can't even purchase, because it was only available to pre-purchasers of a dfiferent game. (Though I guess it's in a bundle.. ridiculous.)

Hitman: Sniper Challenge

SavyGamer recommends it as "The best Hitman game," so maybe I shouldn't be so harsh... I dunno.
Bwahahahaha

Had a look through the first five pages of curators, chose Devolver Digital, GAF and RPS. Any worthwhile curators I'm missing?

I'm not a fan of Youtube personalities known to do paid promotions (some disclosed, some not) getting popular as curators, but I suppose that's to be expected and on the people who follow them.

Rhaknar

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
Have you turned off FXAA?

Game is okay so far, I've played until the first boss with a group of randoms and it's nothing special, just mindless mass murder of standard fantasy enemies. Not much too it and I wouldn't recommend playing alone. If any GAFer needs someone, hit me up, I've been playing the valkyrie.

will try that tomorow. the game is deffinately mindless, in fact a friend of mine just described it like that, "mindless fun", and I agree

still fun tho

FYI, every store page will show some sort of recommendation. So you'll be seeing a lot of them, even if you don't subscribe.

I think it recommended it because you can still get it through the "Elite" edition although....if you already have the game and the other DLCs...thats just llol....

It's actually still included with base game even thought it claims to be pre-purchase only.

See, now I'm really not gonna do it. look it up on the store yourself, ya Civ addict.

looks like generic indie twin stick shooter #214 w/ eurotrance

what's so good about it?

edit: it reminds me of super stardust on the ps3 / amiga is it like that? though it looks like your bound like in geometry wars (which I'm not a fan of )

Afraid of spiders?

Gauntlet won't be your GOTY.

Also the ui and camera need some work since the interface sometimes obscures the action at the bottom and the camera just does a bad job overall even considering that it's hard to keep four players on screen.

After playing through the amazing F.E.A.R., started F.E.A.R. 2.
About half an hour in, I must say I'm really unimpressed. The AI ain't as good, the gunplay doesn't feel as good (the enemies are way more bulletspongy), the sound of the guns aren't as good as the first one, the pistol ain't as OP and good to use as it were. .

Yeah, that's why I actually liked the third one more than the second one. The gunplay and AI is better in 3. It's not really a good F.E.A.R. game but it's a pretty decent shooter.
