Excellent. Youve started a gem! GBF is pretty addictive.

Yeah it's pretty fun to watch. Unfortunately I can't comment on the Gundam bits since I know absolutely nothing about it.

This never should have been advertised as a battle shounen.

Mahouka is a slice of life with occasional pieces of action.
Tatsuya's main goal is to conduct research while guarding Miyuki. All these school competitions, terrorism and invasions are nothing but distractions.

I wish that it was more focused on exploring the post magic world and explaining how magic functions. Also Tatsuya needed to be more human. It should have animated Tatsuya's social struggles as well as his thoughts on the events and characters in the series.

This is my biggest disappointment this year. I hope that it can get a movie or maybe even a remake that fits the tone of the light novel more closely.
How close did it follow the novels? I remember people saying that an entire volume got shafted.

They could reanimate the same arc for the next 15 years and the manga will have only progressed 4 chapters in that time.

You joke, but it's been years since I read Berserk and I could probably be up to date in five minutes flat.

One day many years in the future we'll get a HxH 2011 / JoJo 2012 quality OVA adaptation of Berserk that is uncensored, unmarred by cg, and covers more then the golden age arc, I just hope I'm alive when that happens and that the author actually finishes the manga so it can adapt the whole thing and not stop in the middle.

Berserk needs something like a Hellsing Ultimate production. The TV series was so censored compared to the manga and still cut out a lot of stuff because of the limitations. The movies had more freedom in that regard but you aren't gonna fit 100+ chapters in 3 short movies.

OVAs like Hellsing Ultimate could get the job done but it would be a very long project.

It would not take long, only if you wanted to stare at the still pretty art for a bit longer.

This would be good, but Berserk is already so long I don't know how long an OVA series would take.

Nothing really interesting from Funimation's panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta -- just a home video release next summer for Soul Eater Not, and the expected confirmation that they'll be streaming selector spread WIXOSS. I guess there's also the exact time for their Psycho-Pass 2 simulcast, at 10:50am PDT on Thursdays. Presumably they'll announce more Fall shows throughout next week.

I'd actually forgotten that the new Sailor Moon anime was airing. I'm not kidding, it's really that unmemorable.

What a disappointment.

Oh man, just thinking about Berserk already gets me pissed off. Miura is a master of his craft.

Same......so angry.

I'm sure a mild ground featuring a more painterly look existed as a possiblity, but it's just a shame it never happened that way.

I don't know what's more disappointing about the Berserk movies:

- That they took years to come out
- That they're marred by CG
- That they cover the god damn same arc again

Easily the last one. I mean the anime is so much better than these films.

Although, I can't blame them. Golden Age Arc in Berserk has to be the greatest arc in manga history. So sad to see how such a phenomenal manga has become the Berserk we joke about today. God damn Idolmaster.

I'm ready for more WIXOSS. There's plenty of things that need to be resolved.

Pokemon XY 43

And the gang finally reaches Shalour to face Korrina.

Maybe if Ash prays hard enough at night, he won't get his ass kicked by Lucario.

Again.

Berserk - 13

So "team rocket" commander is back, and now he has a small army with him against Guts and Casca. Hope he dies soon so I dont have to see him again
L2Xxm7C.jpg
Playing ball with a giant ass flail? Sure no problem. Arrow through the hand and arm? Just a flesh wound.

I didnt know Casca had the ability to freeze people

Man I can still remember marathoning the entire Berserk anime. Time to reminisce (spoilers ahead):

I never initially expected berserk to have such a grim ending. You could say I was naive but I honestly thought that after they had rescued Griffith that things would start looking up. Griffith would be grateful for the rescue, Guts would regret leaving and the Hawk would be back but then I saw the scene with the bandaged Griffith imposing himself on Casca. Red flags going off everywhere when I saw that. Still, I never really liked Griffith so I assumed who cares if he's so angry, he's been reduced to a vegetable, his threat is hardly worth worrying about......and then came that iconic scene where he holds the behelit. Seeing the eclipse.....oh shit something's going to happen......seeing the giants....OH SHIT whats going on.....hearing Griffith's words and seeing Gut's hold on him......what's going to happen......seeing the behelit cry tears of blood....errrr.....and then seeing them getting transported to what looks like hell.....WHAT THE FUCK have you done Griffith!

You know, for a hot springs episode there really wasn't that much fanservice. Also, there's much less yuri than at the beginning of the show. It sort of feels like a drag now... Just way too much drama. Well at least the next episode is a pool episode. I can stare at Hana in her bathing suit. hehehehe...

I know it was obviously going to happen, but it still hurts seeing Soul Eater Not getting a video release before Ping-Pong, which aired in the same season. This is why I hate Funimation sometimes; they just sit on these brilliant shows and do nothing with them. I'm still hoping that someone else will grab the home video rights, like what happened with House of Five Leaves.

Mahouka 26

Well that makes sense when they explained why Onii-sama doesn't revive everyone. Also please let that tease lead to a Season 2. It's going to get interesting with the
Aunt now involve.

Quick question.
Onii-sama's aunt doesn't like him right? I don't get why she was so pleasant towards Miyuki about her brother. I wonder if she is secretly scared of him also.

ACTUAL ANSWER TO SPOILER QUESTION DONT CLICK ON SPOILER UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILERED

Aunt is scared of tatsuya because he is that broken in term of specs, she maintain that poker face in front of him since she is actually very powerfull but deep down she feels that tatsuya will one day surpass her ( her special skill give her a little advantage on tatsuya , but just a little advantage and tatsuya get stronger by the day) However she realises that it's better for her, for the familly that miyuki get in charge ( in a couple of years ) since miyuki is the only one who can trully order and control tatsuya since tatsuya is an asset that the familly MUST have in order to keep being "in charge" and "in power" regarding the 10 famillies. She is playing both sides and trying all she got to manipulate everyone in the familly ( not just by ordering people around) to keep as many assets as possible for the inevitable moment when miyuki will get in charge.

Now you know.

Mom, please

Reiji became really uncaring about Gunpla Battle when he found out Yuuki dropped out. Thankfully he went back to normal when Yuuki came back to fight him, and what a fight it was. Despite being slightly outclassed still, Reiji preformed quite well. That being said, the loss cost them the Gunpla, but, Sei has a new one just in case for things like this.

Huh? Next episode is a beach episode? But they're in the finals... Must've made quick work of him. That's a shame. Some "veteran" he is.

Was five minutes of Hana in a bathing suit worth 10 episodes of pain? I'd like to say 'no' but yes it was. I am satisfied. Looks like she had to
leave though.
So that sucks. Stupid drama! =[

I think the show you're looking for is Magimoji Rurumo.

Persona 4 the golden the animation - 12[end]

After 12 episodes, it wasn't that bad ...but it wasn't great . Even with prior knowledge , even with me having played P4 & P4G i can't help but feel that something's off.

I mean the events were put into an anime but the most important part the feelign of experiencing the P4 world wasn't there.

It's a shame since that feelign was there in the first anime , but that was MUCH weaker in the golden animation.

It's a REAL shame that we didn't have more adachi in contrast with marie.
MARIE had plenty of screentime and while the adachi episode was really great , i can't help but think that they could have used more time for adachi.

Another problem is the fact that the cast was really underused. Yuu does everything by himself Even the original anime put more emphasis on the fact that there other persona users fighting , or at least helping.
That feelign was totally lost aside from 1 or 2 scenes.

CAN someone who hasn't played the game tell me what was margareth role ? I mean i know what's her deal BUT someone who has only seen GOLDEN ANIMATION wouldn't.

In the end P4TGA is barely average.
It has good production values most of the time for a Tv anime (' it should have been higher still ) but the presentation was lacking.. the story wasn't bad but it wasn't cleverly presented to the viewer and seriously The golden doesn't make sense if you haven't played the game ( That final episode is more proof that needed )

The only good thing this anime did is to make me hungry for some persona , so i guess i'll get ULTIMAX next week.

Bravo SAO, Bravo

You have managed to find a way to surpass yourself once again

Truly SAO is a masterpiece in story telling, the author continues to find a way to surpass all expectations and stop my heart and lungs when the REVELATIONS happen on screen.

Happiness Charge Precure! 34

Innocent Hime rocks. The way these fights are staged really gives them a sense of beauty and power before they return to the Big Bang. Precure's had many school festival episodes in the past, so it's nice to see one that wasn't another copy and paste of Heartcatch's. All about Hime helping out and learning how to be a good member of her school. So like Manabi Straight without the depressing backdrop.
Also? Yuyu goes Innocent next week. (I almost typed "Hyper", Toqger can't get off my mind.)

So SAO2 brings up an example of victimization as a trope, an issue that keeps creeping up in fiction - including the recent season of True Detective.

sJPNDtjl.png

DgT2rial.png

The problem is the assumption that the female body is sacrosanct (notice how before the show had no problem showing the dismembered body of Death Gun?), which leads to the reductionist writing which assumes women can only be victims of men if they are physically or sexually threatened in some manner.

This is not to say that violence against women is not an important issue. It's just that writers have no idea what else to do with their female characters, so threats of sexual violence (or in the case of True Detective, actual sexual violence) are the only ways that these writers seem to be able to advance the plot. It makes your male protagonists, whether its True Detective's Cohle or SAO's Kirito, seem justified in their actions to the point where the female body becomes merely a plot device to help progress the male character's series arc.

The reason it's a problem is because if you simply reverse the genders, the premise becomes implicitly ridiculous. A sex cult full of the most powerful women in the state kidnapping boys and forcing them to be sex slaves, while a coked up female detective tracks them down through a trail of dead men left out in the open. Or a female character so obsessed with this meek and PTSD ridden male character to the point where she invades his room and starts menacingly stroking his hair.

We've come to accept that it's natural for the female body to be victimized, to the point where the crimes against women that are used strictly for plot purposes boil down to the same few premises. In fact, it's been boiled down to its essence through the many rape revenge exploitation films that have been released in the last few decades - the most infamous being I Spit On Your Grave, but the most well-known and well-received being Kill Bill. On the surface, it's easy to say that it is better that the male savior is removed and his attributes and arc are placed into the female victim. In these films, the women is allowed to take her own revenge for her victimization, after all. But again, just imagine a movie that begins with a comatose man in a hospital being raped by a couple of women, and you can at least see some absurdity in the premise.

The amazing thing is that SAO has gone back to the well twice, because I assume this is the only use Kawahara has for female characters. Creepy raper dudes make immediately recognizable villains and gives the hero (and the audience) an easy target to fight against. The problem is that women are often neglected and forgotten in these types of stories, because they exist only to serve the male characters. It happened when Kirito saves Asuna from the indignities of being mind-raped, and it happens again with Sinon.

There's an easy way to avoid this trope of course. Assume that women have similar motivations as men. Nic Pizzolatto's excuse for True Detective was that he was writing a show about male homosocial relationships and masculinity. I don't think Kawahara has any excuse whatsoever.

So the guy they fought was taken care of before the OP even played... That's a shame.

Well, to the beach we go
68548.jpg

Between this and telling her to go talk a walk with Sei, the pressure is strong.

The inn section lasted all that long thanks to an ex-Gunpla Battle player turned landshark. But it's okay, Sei, brought his Gunpla and so did Yasaka making this a 2 on 1 battle for the inn. It goes without saying that our heroes won of course.

Oh hey, what's this after the cre-- Yuuki? Is that really you?

Please don't compare an amazing show such as True Detective with the filth of SAO 2 lol

Barakamon 12: Episode and Series Thoughts
MqmFDh7.jpg

So it seems almost appropriate that a show with a relaxed mood the whole way through ends with such a relaxed episode. The stand-out of the episode? Like if it was even an option. Sensei's mom has gone to become one of the best moms in anime, she was hilariously moe and violent. Extremely clingy as well for her son to not go back, I even felt bad for her at one point but I couldn't stop laughing at her barrage of fists against everybody haha. Good times. Sure there wasn't anything particularly exciting about the episode, but that's the show in a nutshell. Not much excitement just extremely solid writing and a great cast of comedic characters.`

When I read the synopsis of Barakamon before the season started it wasn't even all that much in my radar. It sounded like it was going to be a slice of life comedy of fish out of water which are a dime a dozen in a lot of media. But I was pleasantly surprised to find what is easily the second best show of the season. This coming from somebody who didn't think Nozaki-kun could be beaten for the 2nd place spot. But this show made it happen and it did so damn flawlessly.

So what's the show? Our lead, who I cannot remember the name of because 90% of the characters call him Sensei, gets transported to an island after falcon punching the director and one of the highly respected figures of the calligraphy department/industry of Japan. He gets sent to an island to learn to humble down and find his own stance and style. The show follows the day to day activities of Sensei and the group of islanders, which basically revolve around having fun and learning about this island's culture as inspiration kicks in for sensei throughout.

The cast of characters is as colorful as it comes, with arguably only Nozaki-kun having a more diverse group of regulars. Not to say this cast of characters isn't amazing, it's just that so many of the children (including the middle/high schoolers) outside of Naru follow the same idea: the boys are sweet but confrontational and the girls are also sweet but a bit mischievous. And this works really well, each has their own variation but outside of some of the more stand-out style/design most of the other children just faded in the crowd. The rest of the islanders with a prominent role didn't have much involvement in the plot but each had their own varied personality revolving around friendly islander. Which was great of course. The recurring characters from the city were by far the more varied ensemble, but unfortunately they also had the least amount of screen time. To summarize everybody was great, but some characters didn't stand out enough and blended in to the background from those with more screen-time and personality.

Sensei in particular is one of the two best characters. He isn't particularly the most hilarious character, but is consistently funny. He just worked really well as a lead. From the beginning of the show to the end you'll see a big change in him. Which is extremely solid writing. You won't lose your quirks or personality but to see him humble down as much as he did, and grow closer with a group of children when he had little to no friends back home, it is an amazing amount of character development.

Naru is of course the other stand-out character, which makes sense as these two are the leads. The fact they didn't choose a grown VA to do her most irritatingly high pitched child like voice was amazing. I recall somebody mentioning that the children, or at least Naru, were voiced by actual children. And it seemed to pull through. Her VA did an amazing job, the personality absolutely oozed from every spoken line and when I read the manga I'm sure I'll still hear her in my head. Naru, alongside the other children, had one particular advantage to children in other media: the moe wasn't the focus. So much slice of life anime tries to make children as cute and #lollicious as possible. Which is seriously sickening of an industry. The children in Barakamon though outright act, talk, and laugh like children. Such a breath of fresh air, and it definitely helped the show as I felt like I could see these children in an island.

Barakamon is an episodic show for the most part with a plot-specific episode or event here and there, more on the end. It succeeded in never having audiences bored. The fascinating group of islanders, the locale, the characters, everything was top notch. Is this show for you? It depends. How into non-traditional slice of life are you? Do you enjoy fish out of water stories? If the answer to both or either of these is yes, then go for it. If both of them are no, I honestly feel you should give it a watch unless you outright do not care for slice of life outside of high school-based ones. Because the show, being not of this group, doesn't follow any of the tropes. I mean sure there's a beach episode, but this is an island and it's a bunch of children hanging around with sensei, so it's not about the fan service. It's about sensei and the kids hanging out. Barakamon is relaxation incarnate so if you just finished watching a very emotional or serious/depressing show this is for you even more so.

Barakamon gets 9.5/10 Woofs.
