So, this might be a dumb question, but, are you forced to be a white guy in this one? Or, rather, is there any driver customization?

Its a small thing, since I know there's no story, but, that's a little problem I have with the Horizon games, that, I'm surprised they didn't change with the second game.

Nope but it is very, very limited. I'd say the most disappointing thing in the game is the customization whether in character or car.

I played the demo version today at a local games shop. The graphics are excellent and the lighting insane. The game had no assists and was quite difficult the first time. I drove the Aston Martin on one of the India tracks. It started at night but changed to day during the race. The handling was excellent and weighty and more towards realistic than arcade. There was a lot of shunting and bumping in the race and the AI was aggressive. I came 9th in my first race. I then tried the Ferrari on the Chile track and was amazed by the graphics and lighting. The sensation of speed was fantastic.I managed to finish 5th this time. The last race was with the Mercedes on a Norway track. All three tracks impressed me with dips and elevation. I really enjoyed the game. It looks like a game that would really be good with a wheel. I wish they would put the ability to put some assists on and a driving line. Also some customisation would have made the game even better. I've already got FH2 and have really been enjoying it. It's a great game but so was the demo I played of Driveclub. I played for about 100 mins or so. It's fantastic and I've pre ordered this as well. They are different games but both excel at what they do! I would highly recommend Driveclub to the majority of racing fans!

slightly OT, but damn...
this would be a great inclusion to the less powerful cars in DC

The design just debuted at the Paris auto show.
The rear end is sick.

Since I'm at work basically doing nothing, I'll post a summary of my thoughts so far:

- Graphics are really good. There is aliasing, however; though it's not much. Lighting effects are simply unmatched. It changes accordingly during the race and changes the whole 'feel' of the race.
- Controls are the best in a racing game for me. I'm not a big fan of sims as it's too complicated for me, but I always enjoyed a lot of arcade racers: Test Drive, NFS, etc. The controls are exactly what they said, somewhere between a sim and an arcade racer.
- I just LOVE the way challenges are presented to the player! Beating other players' score is really awesome and gives more reason to keep trying again and again.
- The UI in general is excellent. As is the menu music.
- The difference between each car is incredible. It really works really well to show the strengths and the weaknesses of each vehicle.
- The sound! Oh my GAWD the sound of the cars and environment is superb.

If I were to complain about something, is the fact that customization is very limited. I wish we could design our own liveries and change wheels, exhaust, etc. like in Forza.

Otherwise the game is 90+ material easily.

Thanks for posting this, I was wanting to read some succinct early impressions from somebody who got the game already. Sounds promising.

That should definitely be in DC at some point. I would love to just stare at the back of that car for hours as I drive around.

No more European cars plas we have enough VW'sa and Audi's already. Also this car would have a better place in Isle of man TT.

Man the hype for this game keeps building up for me. I haven't played a racing game since NFS Most Wanted (recent one) so I'm craving a great looking driving game I can sink my teeth into, but won't overwhelm me with craziness like in F1 2013 or GT6.

Some of the less dramatic crashes are looking unintentionally hilarious. I'm kind of ok with it:

Yes... As the car is indestructible, it just bounces against obstacles which is really weird. The realistic visuals make it even weirder. It looks like a toy thrown away...

Cosmetic damages are a throw back... But I guess Evolution may not have that much of a choice in that regard. Structural damages probably are a no-no for car manufacturers.

The worst thing then having to wait is having to wait considering I spend hours and hours playing the game this past Thursday, not to mention watching the rain and snow in person made me even more impatient! HNNNG!

On a side note, I wonder how it's going to be for those that will download the PS+ Edition and then will install the physical disc game. Hope everything goes smooth and by playing it on disc it's just going to be some minor unlocking from the PS+ version in order to play the game. I still don't know if it will be better to delete the PS+ edition before installing the full disc game or not...

Sweet, got confirmation from Rushy via Twitter that it will release at midnight on PSN. PST I believe.

Preordered the game and didn't even put more than 30mn into Forza since I've been playing Shadow of Mordor! So many games to play around this time of the year.

Do you guys play these games just to wreck the cars?

Car damage has always been a dicey area for developers. You can't show an Audi R8 going 80mph in to a fence and show it has no crumple zone.

If you don't wanna see crummy damage models, learn to drive better.
