STEAM | October 2014 - Proper PC gamers buy a Wii U and Bayonetta 2

Yup. The Asian version is only half as big of a download - and you can already check the language options of the western version (on Steam) and you can select Japanese. So atm everything looks like Square Enix just gave us both versions. Of course it's still speculation until the game finally unlocks.

Unless SquareEnix had a chat to the Titanfall developers and decided to do uncompressed 30gb of eargasmic audio.

Gonna be fun watching the FF13 fallout tomorrow when the game unlocks. If the port has even the slightest fault (59fps, poorly optimized performance, video artifacts, or low poly dogs), the flaming will likely block out any praise anyone has for the game.

Personally I'm really looking forward to jumping into a new FF since the last ones I played properly were back on PSX (not including the MMOs) so even if it's corridors and cliches I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Now i think would be a good time for me to finish the last scene in the witcher 2, it's only been waiting in my library for a few years.

You want me to pay the same price for a region locked copy without dual language support? Piss off, SE!

I'm gonna put that one on my list. I haven't played a Sherlock Holmes game since The Case of the Silver Earring. Sorry about the game deletion, and I hope that this is resolved quickly.
It will get resolved as quickly as my internet let me :)

God why do I have a bad feeling that I just lost all of my games saves...

Outside of Vanille I thought the english cast was fine, and the issues with that character seems more like a direction or lost-in-translation issue than anything else

BUT

the option to play in japanese is awesome! Hopefully that capability becomes standard, though I know sometimes there are licencing issues that prevent that from happening more than file size.

So yesterday someone posted a new Kickstarter game on GAF and it caught my interests. I wanted to back it but I didn't know if this game was going to be on Steam or not. I emailed the developer and I got an answer back. (Surprisingly quick)

The game is Impact Winter

Here is the message I got back. So hopefully there will be a Steam Greenlight page soon. I think this will be my first Kickstarter.

Huh, looking at the first few games off this raffle, T.E.C. 3001 looks pretty crazy and Pretentious Game looks to be in the same vein as Thomas Was Alone (the dev of which even chimed in and gave a good word for it).

Whoa, this game looks cute and is hitting my nostalgia for some reason. And it has a TV show, wut? edit: Oh wait, it was an 80s anime?

VG247 and Bundle Stars are giving away 500,000 Steam keys for open-world racing game Crash Time 2.
http://www.vg247.com/2014/10/08/free-pc-games-1-million-giveaway/
How cool is that! I used to watch the tv show. For a German production it was ridiculously filled to the brim with non-stop explosions. Thanks for the heads-up!
I know, Steam Thread, but you can get Dragon Age: Origins for FREE on Origin: https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/buy/dragon-age-1/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition
Super cool. Will be very nice to having played Origins before Inquisition. Thanks Kiru.

OG Shadowrun Returns 14 kr
EDIT: Most Batman games (including LEGO) < 20 kr
KENTUCKY ROUTE ZERO 23 KR!!
Long Live The Queen 7kr
LEGO Marvel and LEGO LOTR 20kr, LEGO Hobbit 28 kr
Legend of Grimrock 11 kr
Tomb Raider 20kr
That's every price mistake on my wishlist... Now if only I was Norwegian :(
Serious Sam 3 is like 30 cents in Norway too.
Oh what a bummer. At times like these I wish I had friends from around the world. 30c. What a bargain. And Lego Marvel for cheap, too :(

Great that it turns out it wasn't a quick cash-grab port after all. Look solid.

Oh sweet, Japanese VA for FFXIII.
Troy Baker is good, but I'd rather not hear Hope's voice again.

Oh nice! Would have never imagined SE to listen to fan feedback. Times are a changing indeed.

optimized for PC, Full screen support and 60fps confirmed ffor FFXIII
60FPS? Heck yeah! Even though 60 is always better, it wouldn't have been that tragic for a non-direct game like this. Shame that there are still AAA games that don't get 60 from the get-go - even when being action games.
---
Also, wow I just read somewhere that Asscreed unity got forced res-parity across consoles. Crazy!? How come it's not on the frontapge of Gaf? Did it turn out fake?

Has GMG said anything about FFXIII keys going out soon so we can pre-load?

Well, you have to bare in mind it is a UK company and it's 2am here. So there probably isn't anyone in the office to say anything about it. :p

Honestly, I think they'll send them out first thing in the morning. They probably wasn't expecting a pre-load to come up, so they didn't send them out early.

I don't understand why don't they send out the keys the minute they get them. I mean, it's not like we can play the game earlier with that, but they would avoid problems like the current one.

Tonight I've played a bit of Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi - it's a half decent action horror. Either I kind of suck at it or the game is rather difficult. Random enemy respawns don't make it easier, as you can reload a quicksave then immediately get mauled by a creature who wasn't there before you saved. Overall the atmosphere and horror elements are pretty well done - great for playing in the dark!

Ali Hilliis will always be LIGHTNING.. fuck them japanese voice actors

she also voices Palutena and Lucina.. I like using Lucina in Smash because she sound a lot like Light..

Lightning for Smash 5

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
That summary is super short, haha. I still wonder what causes a recommended DX11 GPU though.

I'd wager DX11 is mentioned simply because the recommended GPUs are DX11-capable at best. I doubt the game is actually going to have a D3D11-based renderer.

The lack of a map or clear objective in that game always confused me. I think I played about 2 hours, quit for a few days, then loaded it up having no recollection of where I was or what I was supposed to be doing

Does Hillis voice Lucina in Smash? Because it was Laura Bailey before. And I'm pretty sure they have some weird Hillis soundalike for Smash. :/

Yea, plus I think the rooms generate randomly for each new game as well (I'll likely have to restart in order to beat the game, which apparently only takes ~2 hours if you know what you're doing). It's an interesting game but definitely a little rough around the edges.

Got done playing Mordor just now and, apart from a little bit of annoyance to get a couple hunts done and the QTE stuff in the game, I really had a great time with the game.
I feel that they successfully nailed the atmosphere and feeling from Tolkien's books.

For some reason, the in-game save file time and the Steam playtime don't match, but since I forgot the game running a couple times while I went to watch some Mentalist and stuff I guess it doesn't really matter much.

I'd describe the game as a mix between Batman and AssCreed in its game-play, with some QTE thrown in for good measure and a certain degree of freedom in how to approach the goals to complete missions.
I liked the sense of freedom given by the increasing unlock of abilities and runes for the weapons, which made the task of fighting a really pleasing part of the game thanks to how much more powerful the player can become overtime, going from having to flee if a group of orcs gang-up on you to fighting groups of captains and their bodyguards doable and fun.
Fighting is where the game reminded me of Batman, with combos, counterattacks and throwing knives, executions or special attacks once the counter has reached a certain point. The AssCreed vibes come from the parkour abilities and the stealth part of the game.

The game isn't really long. I spent 63 hours with it mostly because I kept playing side-missions instead of progressing the story initially and then going around killing orcs and playing in the power feuds part of the game, trying to gain more power to unlock skills, to get runes and to build my own army of orcs. This meant that I spent a big part of the game going around killing and getting killed for no other reason than my own fun, to get revenge for my deaths or the deaths of other players, to ruin the orcs gatherings etc... and I consider that a big plus for the game, since open ended kinda games tend to bore me after a while.

Aside from being a fun game, Mordor is also a very good looking game, both in the in-game graphics as well as the cinematic parts. I felt a certain lack of AA though, but I'll say that the... gritty and sharp look of the game was enjoyable more than distracting.
Music is another nice aspect of the game as well as the whole audio direction in the game. I loved how the name of a Commander would be chanted once he showed up and the Italian VA for the game was really good, with both nice voices and good acting.

QTEs are mostly the only sore part of the game for me. More than once I died because I was pushing the stick in the wrong direction initially because I miscalculated the point where it would pop up and they made the last 2 fights feel quite anti-climatic, though everything else more than makes up for it.

All in all a fantastic experience and I'm thankful toward Sub-zero for giving me the chance to play this.
Now I have to decide if uninstalling it to make room for FF13 is what I should do, or I should remove something else because I can see myself booting it up again just to run around for shit and giggles.
