One of my gaming goals for 2014 was to beat the original campaign of every Doom game (1, 2, 64, 3), which I happily did. Now I'm going back to do Thy Flesh Consumed, the Ultimate Doom extra episode.

I'm really not feeling it. At all. Enemies spawn all over the place constantly. Every two steps, every switch, more and more monsters. It feels like I'm playing Painkiller instead of the mostly masterful enemy and level design I expect from early Doom.

I remember it being hard when I was young, but now it's just boring the shit out of me. Are there some great maps in here I should play through it for? I'm sure there's some Doom fans in this thread.

Its been too long, but what I remember is the later levels are a bit lighter on the constant enemy spawn. This might just have been a side effect of getting acclimated however. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I can give him copons. He's in my basement -- you know, that thing that virtually zero Australian houses actually have.

Damn you I was just about to make that joke.

Look here what happens while I sleep. People kidnap me and then give me away without even using ModBot.

Anyway, Jase don't take it personal, but I'd prefer Shadow's basement, as I'm pretty sure there are less odds it would end up being Shelob's lair.

Also a quick giveaway.

Why am I drowning in coupons for Team Indie? So excited to wake up to 6 new items and then it turns out to just be a load of junk. :(

Game looks cute enough, but I feel like I already played it when it was called Super Meat Boy...

That just sounds like vanilla Doom II to me.

Steam's been having issues tonight. My Costume Quest 2 review has been disappearing then reappearing all night. His link leads to his review but, when those problems are present, it just leads to the general recommendations page. I'm guessing it has something to do with the community overhaul thing.

Jshackles, is there a way to substitute the curators part of the store page with (full) reviews from selected members of Steam Community?
One single xelios review is better than the whole lot of them.

I'm on my phone but do you have a link to your review? :O I'm very interested in the game.

Sure: http://steamcommunity.com/id/xelios/recommended/275180/

One single xelios review is...

You're too kind but I really don't have enough reviews that were written after the character limit increase (when I started caring enough to write decent ones) to be worth it. It's kind of draining to write them so I don't do it with enough regularity to be dependable. When it happens, it happens these days. I honestly just write them for a sense of finality, to help me feel that I'm done with the game.

But spiders are our bros.

Interesting, so that's why some random stuff like Farming Sim 2015 (;__;) is region locked despite me doubting that the pub would even care. Volvopls

Valve probably got sick of telling publishers that it's up to them to use the tools provided, haha.

Well, I just found out about this:
qfXQVc2.png

Surely the Japanese language track is a mistake... right?

It's a recent addition and likely a direct result of this 121-page thread.

So...

Has anyone had all of their game executables mysteriously disappear?

I recently deleted ClientRegistry.Blob to fix a Family Sharing bug, and I deleted Black Mesa Source from the mod folder in the Steam Directory, and now this has happened.

Upon "Verifying Game Cache" it just starts redownloading entire games. They haven't disappeared from my HDD space.

Time to panic? Steam suggested deleting the AppCache folder, but that didn't do anything either. I'd rather not redownload all of my games if they're already on the HDD.

Legend of Grimrock is without doubt one of the best games I never actually bothered to play.

One day...

I loved it but was disappointed with how limiting the skill system is, something I hope is different in II. You have all these skills and, by the end of the game, enough points to maybe master one of them at the expense of everything else. I know part of the reason I enjoyed it so much is simply due to how rarely we get first-person dungeon crawlers, so I'm incredibly biased and willing to overlook its flaws. Legend of Grimrock II will also have outdoor areas and more varied environments, a la Might and Magic X, so I'm hyped.

Sounds good, hope they come through.

Nah. The better approach would have been to make it free DLC but Japanese VA makes the game much more replayable since I don't have to listen to the weird English performances.

unless you speak Japanese you might as well just mute the game when people are talking, or turn down the voice volume in the options.

Would be so much better since maybe not everyone want to download the extra gigabytes if they don't want Japanese VA track

So we should also mute every animes too?

That is probably the best way to play anyway.

Did Square listen to the "auto skip any cutscene involving Snow" thread? I'd download another 20GB for that.

OTOH, it will still have Dungeon Master's real-time clickfest combat, instead of superior Might & Magic TB approach. :\

its the same reason why some people prefer japanese dubs for animes instead of english dubs. sure they cannot understand most of what they are saying but it makes it more authentic (is this the correct word?)

Nah. As someone who watches all media (including movies and games) subtitled in the original language whenever possible, my experience is that you can absolutely pick up emotional cues even if you don't speak a language.

Ryse was region-locked earlier:

Added AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting – false about 9 hours ago

I was initially bummed about the lack of a pre-load, but between Styx and my CS drinking game, it doesn't really matter.

Edit: Oh, wait, silly me -- that's the post-release sub (although it was region-free). Serves me right for not checking the info tab first. ;) So, yeah, buy Ryse now if you want it on the cheap, otherwise you'll be waiting for 50% off.

This is why it's nice to have Xelios back - someone who actually plays games.

Well just under a day until FFXIII finishes downloading :(

I bet Adam Orth is mocking me somewhere.

Anyway speaking of FFXIII-2 and the Costume DLC there one that might even tempt Jase to actually play the game.

Though he might get confused when you don't end up collecting stuff whilst you're running around.
