I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Suddenly, everyone flipped their PTO to the 12th.

lol, given such updates, what's the point of physical disk releases anyway.

I microwave steaks.
I really wish they would be more direct about why we have to not only install the fucking game but download a huge content patch.

They talked about it in the gone gold post on waypoint.

The Master Chief Collection will take up almost all of the usable space of a single Blu-ray (45 GB), and we will also issue a content update at launch that is estimated to be 20 GB. You’ll be able to start playing Campaign and more as the content is installing, with some features and multiplayer content being added via the update. Yes, the update is large, but we weren’t about to cut corners to save disc space. This ensures that you are getting every bit of Halo goodness we can fit in. Our work is not done, however, as we continue to tune, tweak and optimize the online experience to ensure a smooth multiplayer launch. This will continue right up until launch day.

We're going to reach a point were we will be preloading day 1 patches soon enough. 20 gigs is huge!

I have slow internet, but that is still only about a 4.5-5 hour download. Not bad as I've downloaded much more at once on Steam.

I'd assume we'll be able to start playing well before it's done?

Ah well there we go..

Jeez...Thats something I've noticed with X1 games. They all have MASSIVE day 1 updates.
I wonder what this update has...and why it couldnt be on the disc...

EDIT: Hmm seems they just didnt have enough disc space... They could have shipped as 2 discs though...
We're gonna need next-gen blu ray next gen I think...

This wouldn't bother me but downloading on the XBONE is so damn slow. It took forever just to get the Killer Instinct Season 2 update. :(

2 Blurays means the game is more expensive. What other games come on 2 discs nowadays?

were 2-disc games last gen, last-last gen, and last-last-last gen any more expensive than regular 1-disc games at retail?

they're the ones who want to save some money, and they transfer the cost to consumers.

70GB of almost never played content for me, I only played the first Halo, when it original released, up to the Library level....

Do blu-rays even have any significant production costs anymore? IIRC, the cost for a single disk were already below $1 a few years ago.

Jesus. For me 20 gigs is no problem at all, but this is crazy. Should be a two-disk option. Guess the "online only" content needing an online update is a lot better than the single-player only stuff being compromised, but that is still pretty ott/inconsiderate on many, IMO.

Maybe they had difficulty fitting all 4 games on 1 disc.

The 360 disc had, what, 8GB of space max? If we assume the Halo games would saturate most of that, then before any new lighting data, the new Blur cutscenes, etc., you're using up a considerable amount of space. Maybe it's also another case of less-compressed data? Who knows. But I'm not all that surpised.

The update it's not for physical buyers only it's for all

So it's stupid what a heck is the damn 20gb ??

And I find this shit stupid we know it's coming it's day one the game just went gold fucksdd it to the damn game or at best should add it already to the download of people that would buy it online and pre load but no ..

People will preload start their game first thing to do ooh yeah guys by the way download these extra 20gb

Much cheaper to print 2 discs in previous gens. Bluray disc are still more expensive, hence most developers squeezing everything onto 1 disc or doing what 343 do and adding updates afterwards.

Not sure if srs.

Maybe it's too early in the morning and I'm dumb but this

Makes it sound almost like MP is a download rather than on the disc.

Good lord, that's ridiculous.

I really feel sorry for people with data caps. Seems like console makers and publishers are keen to just ignore that issue completely. If your ISP sucks then this basically seems like a giant "fuck you."
