I'm sorry if you feel this way. I didn't mean to piss anyone off. The community manager from Insomniac asked why the thread got so long and I just figured it would help to explain.
No need to be hostile about it, though. I answered the question and if you don't mind I think we should move on from it.

I'd like to get away from that part of the discussion. The question he asked was why the thread got so big. I feel I've answered that and I didn't mean to derail it into console purchasing decisions. Needless to say, I got dragged into it too so I'll just cut it off here in hopes we can get back to letting the thread die out since there's no news here anymore.
All I'll say about that is there needs to be more done to differentiate it among the 3 other major game systems I've already dedicated to.
OT: Anybody have any insight into how these mistakes happen in advertising? Pretty harmless as things go, of course, but it's still kind of interesting.
I jumped out long ago not buying it anymore,made my choice last year.

That's something people have to consider. Insomniac has never published a game on Steam and they would have to pay more to find another publisher (for reference Remedy self-published Alan Wake on PC, at least in america). for NA, let alone an international publisher. Unlike SoD, Fable--IPs owned by MS.
That's why comments like 'oh Ryse and DR came this will too.' are kind of silly. Crytek? Self Published. Capcom? Self published.
It's not like they can just put the game on something as broken as Greenlight?
Gloat? uhh okay. But they have been dispeling rumors on the game being multiplat for a WHILE now. JSteve just posted here like a page ago ffs.
Thus solidifying my reason for eventually getting an X1.

Yeah I mean c'mon, if you're such a super fan and really want to support the developer then buy the game and the system while it's out. It doesn't help your case that you're willing to ignore other exclusives that would potentially make the system more viable to you either.
Did it occur to you that prior to this thread, quite a few that think Sunset Overdrive is an interesting game worth purchasing on PC, but don't think highly enough of it to actually purchase a new console for it? Why would that change now?

It's a shame Sony owns the R&C IP because if the series came to PC I'd die from excitement. It's my favourite series of all time...

The short of it is that Insomniac had a great new game idea that they wanted to focus on, and they spoke to many publishers. Microsoft offered them a unique opportunity to make the game they wanted, get it published, and keep the rights to their IP at the same time, something that they've previously never had the opportunity to do.
I'm hoping we see this game succeed and watch that trend continue with IP staying in the hands of the creators.

I wouldn't be surprised if SO is on pc 12 months from now when consoles sales have completely dried up.

Got to agree with you there. Of all current gen consoles, Xbox One is the hardest to justify owning right now by far.
I had one but got rid of it a short while ago because of how bad it's line up throughout 2015 at least was shaping up. I aleady played on PC/Wii U and I was planning on picking up a PS4 at some point anyways, so Xbox One couldn't have been more redundant. The miniscule amount of software on it that can't/won't be playable elsewhere simply isn't worthwhile enough either now or by going off of the release schedule through the next 18 months or so... unless you really really like Halo, but I'm kind of over that since Bungie left tbh.

From the moment they first showed it off I knew this game was going to be my kind of fun but hell no I'm not buying a console and paying a subscription for a few more games. Barely managing to maintain my pc lol.

No Phil said that they want to fund and publish more IPs that they own. Does that mean they will never do it, no.

MS has publishing rights for all platforms. They probably have first right of refusal on any sequels also. It'll be on pc when MS allows it to be.... 12 months from now.

Also, I think it'll come to PC eventually. Why would Microsoft come out and say it is now when it's about to launch for the One? They don't want to hurt their sales.
I think it's actually kind of nice for Insomniac to see the response. Sure, they may not have any plans for the game to move to PC or anything, and likely never will, but it must at least feel really nice to know that your pedigree proceeds you to the point where long time fans are at least discussing the idea of buying a whole system just for that game. Of course, most of us won't do any such thing for the reasons we've already outlined, but we're at least talking about it.
I think that must be a cool feeling.

woah woah bro I'm with you....Insomniac were my favourite dev too (not anymore), bur Ratchet and Clank is more than a bone. Insomniac were my favourite developer because of Ratchet and Clank and Spyro, a continuation of Ratchet on PS4 is definitely more than a bone, its the meat to me.
I really hope though thats its not just a glorified movie tie in and in fact expect it not be. I expect very big changes from RC 1 to RE Redux (got to say the creations of two alternate universes is not something I like) since the movie trailer showed it was very different to RC1's story. Ideally we would be getting a brand new RC trilogy on PS4 but I'm going to be patient for now. I heard the original team are working on it so I expect great things.
Sunset Overdrive weaponry reminds me a lot of RC, though it lacks the stuff that made RC so special to me: the charming characters, adventurous story, actually being funny, exploring the dozens of planets and their vista's , a great blend of platfoming and shooting, oh and the OST. RC was....imaginative and I loved it as a kid.
