Exclusive GTA 5 Content Revealed For PS4, Xbox One and PC

Gating this content off for new players makes no sense. Some people didn't buy your game last gen because they weren't sold on your game, Rockstar. Sweeten the pot for everyone, and you might catch some new players. This is what every sensible publisher does with a re-release.

People won't return simply because you made this content exclusive to them: just putting these extras in the game catches any fence sitters who would be swayed into double-dipping. But as a new player, I think I'll wait for a price drop. Because after GTA4, I'm not a huge fan of the franchise, and though I was planning to pick this up day 1, I'll happily hold off for a price drop, if I even bother in a few months.

Knowing this standard re-release content will be on the disc, and I'll be locked out because I didn't play the game twice does not sit well with me as a consumer.

I really don't understand this line of thinking.

You really can't see it's a harder pillow to swallow to go out a re-purchase a game that is basically the same with improvements, than first timers?

None of these things are things the game needs. It's already overloaded with stuff, that it's barely a footnote. To me this just reads like bland entitlement. You don't need to have everything.

PC version will somehow get an unlocker, I'm sure. Replace files with some other files and boom unlocked.
True.

OK? So now you get to play the game in all the wonderful ways that your PC and modding community will allow you? I still don't see the point in being bitter because people that are spending $120 are getting extra; they should.
Again you don't know if someone just borrowed a friend's copy and played the story. I would stop using the 120 dollars argument.

I know, people say how about you reward me for double dipping when companies don't do anything, and when they do people say it doesn't sit right with them.

They really can't win whatever they do.

If fairness, the double-dippers aren't complaining. And why on earth would first time players be happy knowing they can't access this content?

I'd have been fine with a reduced price for double-dippers; even some free DLC down the road. But I'm not okay with buying the same game as double-dippers on day 1, and being told I can't access all this content because I didn't buy it last gen.

I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm saying the exclusivity risks irritating people like me, and that no one would be irritated if they'd included the extras for everyone.

It's preaching to the converted while needlessly dissuading people who didn't enjoy the last game from giving the new one a chance.

I understand they are not being bitter for that reason, but because they can't get it even if they're willing to pay for it. Understandable. GTA fan does not equate to console fan.

Now, to me, it looks as easy to workaround that as:

1) signup for R* social club (http://socialclub.rockstargames.com)
2) get a friend with PS3, X360 and a copy of the game / alternatively paypal $5 someone on reddit or anywhere else to do it
3) get him create a new console account and play the game
4) and sign in to social club
5) ??????
6) profit

Cheaper than $120 too.

I was sold on it them minute they announced it. I was even more sold on it when the second trailer arrived. I'm not sure how much more I can express that I'm sold on it.

awesome! i can't wait.

so as long as you've played on ps3/360 and signed into Social Club all this cool stuff is yours? i'm sorted then.

kinda sucks that you need to restart story mode. some people won't like that but i'm up for another replay especially with the new content.

I was considering playing Dragon Age and switching between the two, but every time they show more of this game I just realize that I'm going to marathon it and ignore everything else.

Darn, didn't play on 360/PS3 waiting for next-gen. Some of them look really cool :x

Still no official resolution announcements?

A very IGN/EA way of thinking. The extra content alone should make the pill easier to swallow. Or does knowing first time players can't enjoy it make it even easier? If so, Rockstar's gamble on pettiness may have been successful.

I'm not annoyed that returning players get rewarded. I'm annoyed that the reward is day one, on-disc content that Rockstar ensured new players can't use.

This is kind of Rockstar to add a bunch of extra new things for the new release. I'm so excited as I never got to finish or play much of GTAV due to my phat PS3 dying with the game inside it. Very hyped to play it on PS4.

GTA Online sucks balls at its core. Heists won't change that. I'd love some single player heist DLC though. Any kind of major story based DLC would be sweet. It's a shame it doesn't look like this game is going to get anything on the scale of TLAD or TBOGT.

While I would have to disagree with it "sucking balls" as I do really enjoy it with my crew of friend still to this day. I will agree and say that for those people that didn't like the online that I really can't see the heists changing their views.

I guess something must of seriously and fundamentally been wrong with the heists for them still not of been added. The only thing I can guess is that they will release something down the line in a big pack with the single player DLC they announced. (they never announced the details of the single player DLC, just that they were working on something)

OPM said that the PS4 version was 1080p and all of the trainers have been in 1080p, so it's safe to assume the PS4 version is 1080p. But there has been no announcement and I wouldn't expect one from Rockstar. They generally don't care about announcing technical specifications.

I think that the original vision of heists was something simple, like doing the convenience store robberies, but slightly more complex. But, the public perception has been that heists are going to be similar to the heists in single player game, at least, in terms of planning, execution, and multiple steps. I think Rockstar realized their initial vision for heists wasn't going to live up to fans' expectations of them. It seems like they're planning for something much larger than the initial vision.

All I want is a proper matchmaking system. There are like ~300+ jobs or something available in GTA:O and I think the only ones anybody plays are "The Commute" race and then a handful of PvE jobs. There are other modifications I'd like too, but a matchmaking system would make up for most of it. Other things like balancing enemy AI's aim/damage, being able for a lobby host to toggle auto-aim on and off for certain modes (seriously, autoaim + radar in Last Team Standing basically makes it the most boring mode on earth).

Man the graphics on this look crazy, the DOF is really well done.

yep, but last gen PR shots had motion blur and dof too, that wasn't in the game.
Doubt these are genuine ingame pics as far as IQ goes.

I don't agree

Yeah, I agree with you. GTA Online has it's moments.

Survival is fun to play with friends. I enjoy the other activities as well.
My least favorite part is the killing (TDM, and getting killed in the lobby for no reason, even in passive), other than that it's not bad.

Are single player game saves transferable too? I don't want to have to plod through the story and collect all the stars/jiggies/bigfoots again.

This is easily the game I'm most looking forward to this fall. I already took the 18th off from work.

And yes, I played the game on PS3 already. It's going to be the game I put the most time into two years running.

This is all very nice, but I'd rather be able to transfer my single player save. As much as I loved the game, I don't think I want to play through it all over again

This version might serve more for GTA Online, which I didn't really play the first time around.

So they're gating off a bunch of content to people who didn't buy the 360/PS3 version?

Will wait for the GOTY edition then. You already made me wait well over a year for the PC version, it's not going to be hard to wait another 6 months on top of that.

Being annoyed that content is being witheld from you for no good reason is entitlement now? Literally shaking my head at this.

why purchase a remaster if not to experience it from the start?

It would be a huge mistake to buy this game for MP only.

So have they specified whether or not GTA online characters will carry over via Rockstar Social Club cloud saves? Or do I need the GTAV PS3 disc for that?

I sincerely hope it is the former.

Didn't realise that new stuff was only for returning players, I suppose it could be seen as a welcome back gift of sorts for people like me that have downloaded it on both the PS3 and PS4.

Not really bothered about the content really apart from the photography thing which could be good.

Is the balloon from the first game included in this version too?

Do we know if single-player story DLCs are still on the cards? At this point, I lost hope one will be included with the remaster, but if I know they are still coming down the line, I'd be very tempted to pick up that new version. Otherwise, I'm not sure I want to only replay the story with prettier graphics right now... (multiplayer didn't grab me at all)

I played GTAV a bit on PS3 while deployed and by the time I got back the rumors of the next gen editions had taken hold so I decided to hold off and wait. I guess I can redbox the PS3 version for a day just to sign into R* social club and play the first mission or two. That rail gun looks sweet.

Single player DLC has only been in passing mention... sort of a "We'll reveal some new additions for single player soon" in the GTA Online posts they make.

Looking forward to flying the Dodo for reals. I could never quite make it across the river in 3.

It's the flyable Dodo from GTA:SA, not the dodo with clipped wings from GTAIII. From the screens, this clearly as a full wing span. From the pics as well, this Dodo is very capable of flight. The Dodo in GTAIII was never supposed to really fly. The config files for it had it programmed as a car :)

Does your single player progress transfer? At least the collectables?

No, nothing from SP crosses over from last gen to this one. You start off at the beginning.

I know, how terrible, now you have only the entire rest of the game you haven't payed yet and not the <5% new trinkets people who spent twice as much as you get. THE HORROR.

So what?
What a specious argument.

I didn't tell R* to not release a PC port when it was first released.
I didn't tell R* to decide to remove content from the PC port to appease the console only double dippers.

So now I'm outside of their hype cycle, and being outside the hype cycle of any game let's you be surprisingly choosy and patient about what to play and when.

So as I said I'll wait for the GOTY edition.

Here´s the quote:

GTAV Story Mode Updates. For those ready to jump back into the story of Grand Theft Auto V, we have big plans for substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas.

Obviously this isn´t happening in 2014 though...

Another Quote from a Take2 conference call from VG247:

During a briefing conference call with investors, it also noted “extensive” story driven DLC for GTA 5, with more details expected soon.
