Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Just got to this thread and wow that were some of the best visuals I have ever seen. Is this running on a PS4 or some ultra PC?

The E3 2013 trailer was running on a high end PC, it wasn't representative of the visuals seen in the game. This is most likely running on PS4 due to it being sub FHD resolution with aliasing all over the place and a lot of pop up during driving along with framerate dips.

Yes.

Either way, I just hope to not see this game on PC for a couple of years after it's launch at least, so they can try to sell more consoles in Japan.
It would literally sell like a hundred to one in favor of PS4 even if it was on PC in Japan day one (and it won't be).

Yeah, maybe.

idk, just take every extreme measure to make sure consoles don't die in that country >.>
I can't say the PS4 will ever really take off, but so far, there has been absolutely no reason it should in Japan. I think it's too early for the 'Japan don't console' thing people seem to just believe without seeing the market actually stimulated by must play games intended for that market.

I sure hope that's the case...

Actually its not obvious cause it appears u have to select menus
Menus will be used in-between battles to set up your weapons/combos and your party's actions during battle.

Battles themselves will be action, there's even a focus on having as little menus as possible during them.

which is basically to only customize your weapon deck and gambit like system for your characters, and every action you do, dodging, attacking, magic, team attacks, etc is all real time, just these things alone shows you its not turn based

Regarding exploration, I hope they add some lock-on points even on flat terrain, trees, rocks etc for warping. That'd make it more fun.

Overall, the new rendering looks much better than what was shown at E3 2013. Lighting is better, character modelling is better, geometry looks better and more in line with luminous. But yeah, I suspect it is running on PS4 dev or a PC specced to PS4 specs. Sure, the engine looks a beast, but no way it would be Sub-1080p on a highest end PC.

The scene from the first trailers with Noctis descending the stairs and facing an army of Niflheim soldiers must also be in the final game. I don't know, but I've always thought that his scene would be placed at the end of the game or something, where Lucis is now completely seized.

In those videos, Noctis doesn't seem like his usual upbeat and carefree self. He looks pissed. VERY pissed. And he obviously seems to have full control over his powers.

I believe that scene will take place near the end of the game. Perhaps Noctis' friends are killed, or his father is killed, and Noctis just goes fucking apeshit on Niflheim using the full power of the Crystal.
Those combat scenes are from the beginning of the game when Nilfheim is attacking & trying to get the crystal and was more of a visualized concept of how Nomura envisioned a powered up Noctis to be like in the game and he even said not to expect Noctis to be able to do all that in the game right from the start. He probably just wanted some visuals of the kind of combat he was thinking for the game so that people would have a better idea of what he was aiming for with Versus XIII with all the verticality, zero-shifting and more action-y approach.

Yep. For all we know, the majority of FFXV could be as linear as FFXIII -- except that we start out, or eventually get to play in an "open area" or 2, similar to some areas in FFXIII. Maybe the area they've already shown off is the single "open world" area in the game -- maybe intentionally, or maybe they eventually have to reduce their ambitions, and make the game much more linear.
We already know FFXV is nowhere near FFXIII in any way. The demo location we are seeing is completely free to explore, happens very early in the game (most likely right after exiting Lucis) and is only a small part of a bigger area named Duscae which itself is only less than 1/10th of the overall size of the world. So what you are seeing might be less than 1/20th of the size of the world you have to explore. This isn't a case of FFXIII where the one field on Pulse was the only more open area to explore, this sub-area of Duscae could be one of dozens of similarly sized or at least open areas to explore. The story progression will be linear, most likely, but the game itself is not the pipe-run that FFXIII was, not even remotely close to that.

As someone who mostly plays on PC, you're hurting me right now.
Especially considering the game looks like it won't be 1080p (but i'd try to push for 4k anyway).

Never say never, with the recent por of the XIII, and SE considering PC versions for both T0 and FFXV, a release isn't too much of a stretch. Maybe not day one, but not the same gap XIII had.

Also, too early to tell at what resolution the game will run, even the demo won0t be an indicator.

I hope we get to witness this scene too, but this time in full real-time glory.

I'll be sad if she doesn't show up again (in that form). I really agree that there's a refreshing strength in her character design and posture, and it would be great to have a strong female counterpart to the dudesons. I don't know if it's necessary to balance out gender distribution among characters, but it would be a shame to get rid of her in particular. I suppose a decade of nothing but a few minutes of precious footage has made me attached!

That scene in particular is also really cool, I hope they keep it in.

I have a PS4, so if it's more than a two months gap, i'll probably double dip. :p

Its kind of insane how good the early VERSUS trailers are.

They resulted in a strong cult following that lasted nearly a decade of smoke and mirrors and we still dream about those scenes to this day.

Yeah,The hype was real in 2006.

She's not gonna wear that anymore is she. I'm assuming everyone's designs got changed when that fashion deal was made right? Hell have we even seen her in casual/battle outfit since then.

We still don't really know how Stella and Luna relate to each other. Is Luna a renamed Stella with an altered role in the story compared to who & what Stella was supposed to be? Isn't Stella from Tenebrae but Luna is in Accordo? If they are actually separate characters, then the beginning of the game could still be mostly the same. At this point, this vagueness of the story is starting to almost be more annoying than what we don't know about the gameplay.

Yeah, i hope we get a first real story trailer at Jump Festa, just to give a sense to what's going on.
Let the ATReport focus on gameplay.

Man...these trailers and bits of story elements give off a FF8-ish vibe...I'm digging that!

The demo will be out in March 2k15?
