Halo |OT 20| It really does feel like Halo

DopeyFish

Not bitter, just unsweetened
Stand stills are fin, but having time run out and no one doing anything isn't. I would like to see more one bomb/flag type matches with rounds. It would at least force some pushes and interaction between the teams.

Believe the Hype had the lead. Onus is entirely on Str8 to engage.

BTH organized defensively. Str8 waited for picks before engaging. There is nothing to force that because it's smart gameplay.

Sprint wouldn't be so bad if base movement speed was fast itself. When they make the base slower to accommodate sprint, that is the error.

How I hope Halo 5 does it.

Fast base movement.
Thrusters for better combat agility.
Sprint for getting into action quicker and around big maps.

First point is a must.

Excellent, excellent post.

While I still have concerns about sprint's effect on map design, I do think it could (theoretically) be worked around. So I agree.

You miss my point. I didn't find it enjoyable to watch. Sure it's smart and all that but to me it was boring.

When people say upping the movement speed won't solve anything, what exactly are we trying to solve? It worked for 9 years.
"Worked" or "put up with?" I've hated Halo's base speed since Halo 2, but I've played a lot of each game. Why? Because no other games are like Halo.

No one's arguing if it was smart of them. I'm arguing that the meta game for competitive H2A lends itself to defensive/campy playstyles over aggressive plays.

One minute Halo fans want faster gameplay, faster movement, etc., but the next they're talking about how great a match was where for a majority of 15 minutes, people were just standing around.

EDIT:

This.

Funny how salty this thread is seeing as in 1 day we're getting almost everything we could want in a Halo game...

I probably shouldn't be surprised

You guys really enjoy watching a high level Halo match run out of time? A match where there's a lot of standing around with peek-a-boo gameplay?

I don't understand. Frankie, just give us Halo 5 already.. These people don't know what they want.

That has way more to to do with gametype than the game itself. Slayer/Deathmatch modes juyst suck for comp play IMO.

Give em all the movement abiliteis in the world, you get a lead and your gonna slow the game down and camp it out.

This.

Pretty much why I hate Slayer as a "competitive" gametype. Objective gametypes >

Not everything.

I want my customizable armor pieces in Halo 3.

Look at that, a halo game without superfluous bullshit getting #2 on twitch.

If my calculations are right, there are more people watching Halo right now than have played Halo 4 at any given time in the last year and a half or so.

Constructive criticism time:

If ADS absolutely has to stay, here's how it could work...
- When aiming with, say, the BR, it should still be the same amount of zoom as the classic BR. Don't just shift the weapon's view model to the center of the screen and aim via the red dot
- Do not slow down movement
- Do not increase accuracy
- Essentially, it's a cosmetic change to the old skool zooming mechanic

I'm still pushing for a removal of ADS, mainly because even if it is purely cosmetic, it compromises the player's field of view when aiming. Now, if it it straight up CoD style with slowed movement and increased accuracy then I will be legitimately angry.

Nah man, even Objective gametypes take forever. That Bomb match was only one plant, for example. Even in Matchmaking we see the time run out a lot of the time..

These timeouts are ridiculous, as are the kill times and requirement to team shoot.

I know I'm probably a bit late on the salt-train. But damn, I cannot believe they actually did it. It actually happened. My expectations for Halo 5 were near non-existent before, and now the Earth has just been salted. (lol)

What a hell of a ride it's been, Halo. Perhaps the most excited I've been in years is to finally play Halo 1-3 again with my friends from Ascendant Justice and some folks from GAF come Monday. But ultimately it's bittersweet, as I know this is my last stop in the Halo franchise.

Sorry to livejounral you all, just attempting to vent after having seen the news. Sad to see the future of Halo go. Still fucking excited to play some good Halo in a little over a day from now, however. Couldn't be more excited for that.

That's exactly what it is, cosmetic zoom. This has been established by 343.

Also classic zoom reduced FoV aswell. Zooming inherently requires it. It would look fucking weird if it didn't...

I mean you get the Halo 5 beta for free with MCC. You might as well try it before you make your decision from 9 secs of potato footage.

Can anyone update me on what happened in the last few hours? I was busy and today has been a rollercoaster for Halo.

I'm still stunned we went from 40 pages of Halo is dead to everything seemingly back to normal.

I've seen the thread but I fear that I have missed some good posts on what we have seen.

Waking up a few hours ago and now catching up to HaloGaf was a fun rollercoaster. Man, HaloGaf can be very Bipolar at times. Its why I love it here so much though.

A cosmetic ADS is fine in my book. CSGO actually did this:

See what they did here? That's normal scope zoom for the SG 553.
