Assassin's Creed Unity - PC Performance thread

Wow that's awesome. I'm guessing I wouldn't need to download anything and Gsync is available in the Nvidia Control Panel?

You'd need an applicable monitor and a Gsync installed in it. Some newer monitors with high refresh rates are being shipped with the module preinstalled.

The powers that be decided they'd release it at 12 AM PST. If you're on the East Coast that means 3 AM.

The powers that be suck. How large is the game (download size)? If I start at 3, I wonder if I'll be done in time to play in the morning a bit.

Edit: I will have 970 SLI tomorrow night to try the game with. Should be fun.

It's in the control panel, yes, but it requires a Gsync capable monitor. There are only a few on the market currently.

Welp, thanks anyway guy. I'm sure my Asus monitor doesn't have that spanking new feature.

I know this is the performance thread but those of you playing the games. How is the story and characters? Good so far? Hopefully better than AC3.

I don't think people real how much of a difference gsync makes.

It's amazing for smoothness

The most amazing Gfx cards are never going to be fully utilized by most pc games. Gsync closes that gap and give amazing output

Thats ok as a starting point I guess.

Does it tend to be more CPU bound in terms of framerate or was that all hot air?

I guess people were overreacting as usual , my stock 4670k holds 60fps 95% of the time , running through crowded streets (high preset and 720p ssao-off). Seems to be scaling across all cores pretty good. I can't wait for benches to see how 6+ core CPUs do

Waiting on your impression. Can you do both sli and non sli?

Thinking about a second 970

Mine does, asus vg248qe. I just don't want to buy and install the module.

Still going here, I didn't notice any stutter btw but I'd like for it to be fully installed just to keep the HDD activity to the game only.

Guys, I'm wondering which version to get; PS4 or PC?

How will my 780Ti 4770k combo work?

Not looking for anything more than 1080p30 (not really as enamoured with 60 as most PC fans are) and with all settings turned up to max.

PC for sure with that set up. I've got a weaker processor and a GTX 970 (weaker than the 780Ti, I think), and it runs quite well indeed with everything on Ultra but shadows (on High) and 4x MSAA.

Hopefully this is sarcasm. Just in case it isn't, with that kind of PC you will destroy Assassins Creed Unity. Definitely PC, it's a no-brainer.

PC obviously , you can have much better IQ , hbao+ , better res. , AA.. it's worth it i guess

Also fence-sitting currently, not sure if I should go with PS4 or PC, based on the required specs. Can I get some opinions from those testing it out?

Sporting a GTX 670 FTW (EVGA) and i7-2700k @ 1440p. Will I manage at least 30fps at that rez and is it possible to hit 60fps if I turn it down to 1080p on high?

Friend of mine already got to preload the files but doesn't have the binaries files, could you share those?

A "friend" right :rolls eyes:

Has anybody confirmed if the GTX 680 minimum or better is a hard lock?

Damn i hope its not a hard lock to 6xx.
Im old school still running a heavy OC'd GTX570 not expecting much but atleast 30fps with better looking visuals than the console version.

Man this game is just all over the place when it comes to the performance. Game is pretty in certain areas and messy in others. I'm trying to find that sweet spot to get it running at 60 but it's a pain in the ass so far. Can't seem to lock it to 30 either as it dips from time to time.

Screens were capped with everything maxed besides AA. Waiting for them to release the 1.02 update and see how much that improves.

i7-4770K 3.5GHz
GTX 780ti OC 3GB
16GB DDR3 2400Mhz

Some of you guys who are running at with sane performance levels have uber PC's. I'm wondering how a 280X will handle this. Also, AMD released their new drivers which for some reason REFUSE to install >.<

Yup, I'm fucked with my 770 lol.

Huh?

You should be able to do that easily.

Cool, thanks!

Not sarcasm. Here is my build - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/GYpgXL

I guess I'm edging towards PC, then.

My n00bishness might be coming from the fact that PC seems like an obvious choice and I'm asking which I should go for, but it's because I forgot to elect that I hate Uplay. Had such a nightmare with it for Watch Dogs.

The sad thing about PC gaming lately is you can either play through the game in the first week or two getting performance issues or you can be patient and wait a month for patches (official and durante), new gpu drivers and enjoy the game with 10-50% better fps and other problems ironed out.

Like, I wish I'd waited and played Dead Rising 3 a month after launch, but I don't think I can wait for Unity >_<

I will. I'm also thinking about a second. One of the two is going back for coil whine, may or may not replace it depending how pleasing the results are. :p

My native resolution's 2560x1440, but I'll mess around with 1920x1080 and 4K too for some general ideas of performance.

Over 41 GBs... wow.

Can someone please tell how much memory the game .exe takes up?

I got 8GB ddr3 running win8.1 , game alone takes 1.9gb on high preset. There is ultra which i yet must try

Oh , and btw for anyone wondering about CPU scaling , it's near perfect here on 4670k

Hmm, well that was scary. I was playing Fashion's Creed when you're first given the ability to buy new equipment when my PC just gave up and rebooted. No bluescreen or anything, it just rebooted itself. I waited a good minute or two and I didn't get any signal on my monitors so I powered it off completely and let it sit for ten. Mercifully it came back to life.

I did see that my graphics card temps were hovering around 77 degrees C, but that's not out of the ordinary for demanding games. I hope this game doesn't blow my card up or anything!

I'm running an i5 760 with a GTX 780 3GB if that makes any difference.

anyone dared try a 5 series card? 570 or so? I have a friend on the fence about the game because of the possibly bloated minimums.

Personally... I'm waiting for this to release so it can melt my new 970 :)

You should be ok with ultrahigh at 30fps judging by the video posted a couple of pages back.

Really? I'm glad if that's the case, I don't really mind playing at medium or high as long as I can get it to 1080p. Resolution matters more to me than the other settings.

A 570 is roughly the same performance level as a 660 so I imagine it's playable at 30fps 1080P with certain effects turned down.

Ah, so this should be playable on less than the stated 6GB minimum spec. I was hoping that'd be the case. Thanks.

So.... I just downloaded DS4Windows by J2K and was pleasantly surprised to find out that Unity actually uses the Playstation button overlay on PC when using a DualShock.

Damn, this should be a standard feature in all PC games going forward.

Are there any other games currently that do this?

The multiplayer of AC4 also has Playstation button prompts when using the DS4.

Real reborn does this. Thank goodness, that's awesome. I really wish it was standard. CDProjekt have stated that W3 will support DS4, so we can assume it will be in there too.
