I'm pretty sure all the videos popping around depicting this game's flaws (horrible fps, pop in like Dragon's Dogma, janky animations, glitches everywhere, people falling from the sky, the player sunking from Paris straight into the Ash Lake, the now fabled monster mug, and many many more) are nothing but fabrications, montages created to shed negative light on this technical masterpiece. I would blame Monolith. They're probably behind it all, still being salty as fuck at Ubi for having thrown shade at them weeks before release. They're controlling everything from the shadows. This game has zero problems, it's everybody's ps4/x1 that is faulty.

This is AC1 all over again ffs.

Hahaha delicious

i sincerily want to congratulate Ubisoft for the amazing experience they are providing us with this game, i mean the stuff of nightmares, making the imagination and the creativity of people explode all around, really amazing. I understand that this wasn´t the original intent and that the poor developers must be crying or raging for being forced to unleash this in to the world, but man, this thread is freaking amazing

it's like microtransactions of enjoyment that we didn't have to pay for to pay for

Has Crossing Eden popped his head out since launch? He was a strong defender of AC: Unity and Ubisoft. Strange to disappear all of a sudden with so much news about AC: Unity and Ubisoft to talk about.

This wouldn't necessarily be the case (in theory):

Also if the PC performance thread is anything to go by it is mostly those with higher clockspeeds who are enjoying better minimum frame rates. That would suggest the game scales linearly as you increase the CPU clock speed hence the XB1 is performing better in most areas.

The xb1's GPU is likely maxed out at 900p in this game but the PS4 GPU will have some overhead that they have chosen not to use by not increasing the resolution.

Oops, just wanted to apologize to everyone for saying something that was wrong. Clearly I don't understand how these things work (on a technical level with GPU/CPU) so I shouldn't have talked before at least looking it up.

But I now know. Thanks for the info.

I played the game for 2 hours yesterday and it plays and looks great. Only noticed some unimportant little hickups in some cutscenes. The hyperboles and salt in this thread are hilarious, after reading several times that the game would be unplayable and broken I was afraid.
I guess some people are just looking for reasons to bash this game. Haters gonna hate

I played for six hours last night and was extremely disappointed that it isn't the glitchy slide show everyone is saying it is. I only saw two glitches the entire time, and one of them was only because I knew how to trigger it from the video yesterday (i.e. climbing on a stained glass window, despite there being absolutely no reason to climb on it.) Aside from that, I never really noticed any horrendously bad frame rates. The NPC crowds in the streets aren't usually big enough to cause that, I think.

Someone said that playing offline improves the frame rate (signing out of PSN from the UI), can anyone confirm this? Seems like a strange fix.

My copy is still sealed, I'm debating if it should be returned to amazon.

Thanks,

At first I was annoyed at the shitty state AC U is in but now after all these hilarious posts I am looking forward to playing it. Good Job Gaf.

Gta5 had very poor frame rate as well, yet ppl still think its GOTY.

Fair point. I tried it on PS3 and the frame rate in that game was constantly and consistently "atrocious." Definitely felt like low 20s/high teens most of the time. I'd be surprised if it ever hit 30 in my time playing it.

It'd why I didn't buy the original game and have been waiting over a year for a PC version.

In short, I can totally relate with anyone finding a frame rate that's closer to 20 than 30 unplayable in a 3rd person action game.

Because it lacked these extreme bugs, didn't pester you with app accounts before you can loot stuff, and was at the tail end of a console cycle that was ripe with framerate issue games. This generation had been relatively safe in its "at least 30fps all the time" games with rare exception, but this is the biggest game release to have sub-30fps performance this generation, therefore it is worthy of mockery.

This game also is very heavy on climbing buildings, and traversing through crowds. It's about fluid movements (you are an assassin afterall). So the low FPS on this, is much much more game breaking (at least IMO). It ruins the immersion, and just makes playing it awful. For me, it all became clear when I was climbing up a church wall, and as I panned the camera the FPS almost came to a crash. The game was literally chugging and struggling to perform. Every time I would jump to a new ledge or try to move, the game would skip and slow down to an almost stop. Just to get from one point to the other, the game almost died (and keep in mind, I was in a small area and only trying to get across a room).

I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. If I can't even climb walls and traverse buildings without the game basically crashing to a slow stop, then this game has failed. I can't go back and compare this to GTA V's performance. But I don't remember GTA V ever having that kind of problem with it's performance ruining core gameplay (I do remember GTA having fps issues though).

As others have also said, it's more than the FPS. It's all the bugs/glitches. It's, how pointless all the NPC's are (they look hideous, and they often don't interact correctly). Just so much of this game, feels unfinished and not polished at all. Again, I can't go back 1:1 compare this to GTA V. But GTA V came off as a very polished game (technical limitations aside). Comparing the two games is not even...it just shouldn't be compared at all. I'm not saying that to be mean. I'm saying it as someone that spent $60, and really regrets it.

So most of the glitches are from the PC version yeah? Or is it the same on consoles?

I haven't seen any of the face glitches myself on X1. But a lot of the NPCs walking in thin air, falling into the walls. NPC's messing up and not knowing what to do. Objects (like swords not being in place and floating).

I've seen all of that on console. And the worst of it, is just how terrible the fps is. As I said, my game almost came to a crash climbing the interior of a cathedral.

Nice work Ubisoft, you somehow managed make another big mess with an even bigger team.
People really need to stop buying these games, it just enables them.
Notice how nobody has any concern over whether or not Smash 4 is going to run as well as was shown in all the gameplay we've seen. It's a shame that a big budget company not trying to pull the wool over our eyes is a rarity

Not a surprise at all, I avoid Ubi open world games for that reason, there's not QA, bug ridden games are the norm now and they just don't care.

The same chapel as I mentioned before: I visited it later during a mission, and the same frame rate problem occurred. It's a mess.

The outside gameplay isn't too bad, imo.

Exactly.
But this is NeoGAF after all, Land of the hyperboles and home of the salty
