Someone is streaming GTA V on PS4

This doesn't look as spectacular as I remembered. Eh.

i think it's the difference between a game where it's literally the objective to go on a disturbing shooting rampage ala some mass murderer vs. an open world where you can do that, but it's not the objective and it's certainly not the point of the game.

Not saying Hatred shouldn't exist, just that I understand very much why it makes people uncomfortable.

I mean, context and all. It's still pretty damn brutal though.

you play as a criminal through and through... and killing people rewards you with money.

Has custom music been confirmed ? Is it implemented properly such as fading when conversations take place or does your music simply play over everything like in GTA IV ?

Well I know it's in all games on PS4 now (playable from USB storage I believe) but I don't think it'll be officially supported.

If you can't tell the difference between the two, you may be 12 years old.

What a mature response. Because the game doesn't have a crime in its title alone, because 99% of people who play GTA don't go on reckless driving and murder sprees at some point in the game that isn't tied to any story at all.

Exactly what I hoped and feared.

And that is?

Honestly though that was a little intense for me. With this and the "brutal machete" talk I don't know if I can stomach first person. Violence and gore just don't seem as exciting as they were in my Thrill Kill days.

I hoped it would be that responsive. I mentioned in a following post that the controls looked very responsive. Looks tight as fuck. Even back to the FP trailer it was clear, especially in the Grove Street shootout, that they did exactly what they said they did; refined and redefined the way the game plays. It looks absolutely phenomenal and I can't believe how excited I am.

I feared it would be that graphic. That is pretty goddamn vicious.

I wonder if they'll throw in an achievement for completing the campaign in FP mode exclusively ?

I guess it doesn't really matter too much if they do or don't ...but it would be a nice touch :)

Saw this live and... this right here... made me feel weird about GTA for the first time in my life.

It's certainly grim.

But saying that, perhaps if you feel weird about it then it's actually doing what it's supposed to do and making you question your actions.

Or something deep and evocative like that not typed up at 3.36am with a cold.

First person headshot gif from my recording.

This is the first time I've really considered how much of a gamechanger 1st person view in GTA actually could be. For some reason watching that GIF garnered a completely different emotional response than what doing it in 3rd person would.

It's nothing new though, you have been able to do this in these types of games for years, latest being Watch Dogs.

I can potentianlly see there being an issue will be with first person view now, things being more directly in your face, highly detailed HD, and more importantly, you cant see your avatar, so its now you are the person shooting, and not necasarily playing as a third person character. Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Yeah, 1st person definitely makes this a different kind of game. It feels like Postal now to me.

I agree wholeheartedly. Not a bad thing I guess, I'm still buying it but I never felt like this over GTA before.

Doesn't stop the news networks using this to blame "teh videogames" again for violence. GTA is their news crush and they'd love a new excuse to blame this for all the issues in the world. Making it first person makes it more immersive and therefore more violent.

It'll happen.

My thoughts exactly. Tards like foxnews will run rampant with this because its more "realistic" being in first person.

Then they need to allow me to cover them in gasoline, and light them on fire like in postal 2......wait....gta5 does have a gas can!!!!!!

They don't limp and beg like they do in GTA4 though do they? That would be really interesting to see in first person...

With the improved graphics and clarity, the euphoria physics and animation, and the perspective change this certainly looks a lot more graphic and realistic than anything something like Watch Dogs did. I'm a diehard Rockstar fanboy, and I always appreciated the slightly cartoony worlds and caricatures of their games, but this is slightly off putting. The third person view I guess took me away a little of the extremity of it all. Still a day one game, just coming to a different moment of my life I guess.

Now I know why GTA was never in first-person. That felt much more brutal than any headshots I did in third-person.

I think there's still a fair amount of reception context here though. We're watching a silent GIF, starting right at the brutal point, whereas in-game we would've passed through a satirical environment with new 80's music blasting in order to get there, and both characters in that scene would've said something that would ease the tension and maybe make it more comedic too.

Yeah, I'm with you in that regard. It's the visceral reaction of seeing it in first person that's crazy. Before we didn't see the blood literally leaking out of the person's head. It doesn't make a difference to most of the people in this post but I understand the perspective of a parent's outrage at this game. This is a solid Mature game and does not belong in the hands of minors.

All of us grown folk are fine but I'll admit that was a shock when I saw it. It has more to do with the first person perspective and the nature of this game as whole.

To reiterate:

Keep this game out of the hands of minors.
Parents enable the block on your system that stops children from playing this game if you so choose.
The rest of us will enjoy this game on release date.

*Looks forward to the PS4 preload*
