I guess for weapon call outs and enemies but I didn't like them saying, Thanks for the help and stuff like that. too much chatter.

It seams that they're trying to promote communication by giving examples of what to say. But for those that actually do communicate during the game, the excess chatter will just get in the way. I think they're an interesting addition. Especially if you're on a 4 team with 3 in party chat and you're left high and dry.

This is -by far- the best Assault Rifle in a Halo title yet:

Hard to see in the video, but still ... I really like that small touches like the display is actually throwing "real" light and shadows to the guns itself. Same for the Battle Rifle.

The in-game callouts are pretty cool. Make it so they only call out enemy locations though. Lets micless players still contribute and is sort of "in universe" spotting.

Cut "NICE CLEAN KILL BRO"/"NICE HEADSHOT", keep "Enemy at mid!"

edit: also after doing that, make the callouts appear in the killfeed

I think if 343 wanted to compensate people for the launch week issues MCC has had the perfect reward would be announcing 6 more H2A maps.

-Terminal
-Relic
-Headlong
-Turf
-Beaver Creek
-Ivory Tower

I would be satisfied if they would just update all the multiplayer maps with their final matchmaking versions. You know - the way we remember it? Not the broken and unbalanced maps that shipped with each disc on launch day.

I agree as well. Sprinting should use power resources from your suit. If you sprint away your shields are gone. That means if someone runs to the power weapon he will pick it up with hardly any shields... That would be more balanced. The problem with their current system is people can still run into a room and melee and shoot like Halo 4.

So... You'd like Spartan IV's to be more like this guy...?

:p

They should have given you some kind of easter egg for attempting superjumps on the H2A maps. Like, "successfully" doing the tower bounce on Ascension horribly mangles your Spartan on impact with the bottom catwalk or sets you on fire (cosmetically), etc.

It would be nice if we could have a spot button actually. I wouldn't want it to work like BF. Maybe if you were to "spot" a player, the rest of your team would have a quick ping showing where the enemy is however it would be a stationary ping positioned where the enemy was at the time of the spot.

For par time and under 3 hours achievements can I simply play on "Easy"? I heared it was Legendary, but the achievements don't say anything about diffiulty.

So are achievements disabled for good with 0.00 skulls on? Thought of running through H2 on Legendary.

If you pick a skull that does this you will get a prompt that says achievements disabled. I think only the Scarab Gun does that, though.

Okay so made a map, need to place spawns and weapons but so far its a 3 path map, so when you learn what weapons spawn where in the map more people will be likely to funnel to those areas and clear them out and then being searching the other 2 paths for the rest of the remaining players.

Heard it was glitched and that achievements are still enabled with the Scarab Gun. Achievement Hunters were doing their achievements were various 0.00 Skulls on.

I think I've mentioned it before but a more arcadey way of doing it would be that you auto-spot someone for your team once you keep a red reticule on them for something like 2 seconds.

Saves a button, doesn't depend on randoms to press the button (it just happens as part of the natural flow), ties into weapon balance (someone with a shotgun can't spot outside of their effective range)

Is that a secondary weapon icon?

I thought that was redundant and just clutter or whatever excuse they gave with Halo 4?

I actually quite like he sound of that, however there are a couple of problems. You'd regularly be having pings when they aren't necessary. I'm also not sure about tying it to weapon range. Why should someone with a shotgun not be able to spot someone far away?

Maybe they are learning.

Ok Thanks, any words of Bumper jumper?

Can't see why not. If classic controls are making a return, Bumper Jumper should be simple enough.

I'd like it if we could turn off "flavor" and informative callouts separately, in case I'm in a team with no mics but I don't feel like listening to the "nice headshot" stuff.

From H5 mp thread.

They talk so much about map control. I am not seeing any map control. Just players sprinting to a gun battle off spawn die, rinse, repeat. This was the single biggest issue with Halo 4. Reduce sprint speed to a small bump from base speed or remove it and H5 will be a great game.

It's almost like all of the people playing it are keying in on buzz words. All I see is people running around with super swords and using ADS.

Nope, Ironsights are obnoxious, don't need my gun obstructing my view for no reason, when I should be able to look directly through the scope, like every other Halo game.

That DMR ADS was brutal, giant fucking Ironsights filling up the screen. I still don't like Sprint. Glad to hear more players commenting that aim assist is toned down and it's harder to shoot. That along with the reticule back in the middle of the screen should make the game fun to shoot in, but ADS and Sprint really damper the hype. Automatics still look too easy to use though.

QFT

Don't worry Frankie and 343 got you covered, they reclassified the story behind (Smartlink) to make it ADS (Smart Scope).

Cybernetically linked so that I still have to pull my gun up and look at Ironsights.

Skip to 51:45 in the VoD for HaloFest. http://www.twitch.tv/xbox/b/587517851

Also note what Josh says about Sprint. "There are some people who don't think sprint has any part in Halo" How do we balance that?"

We put it in and tell them to fuckin bad.

It might break the equal start mantra.... But I would love to be able to unlock a smart HUD link attachment to my guns.

Turns it into old zoom.

If ads really is cosmetic it shouldn't be an issue right? Could allow people to customize their sights

Not Happening, the easiest way to please people was to give them a choice. This is another one of those "343" visions getting shoved down your throat.

A couple days ago I played MCC with someone who exclusively plays Battlefield and Call of Duty, and the very first thing he said in our first game (H2A) was,

"Why is there no sprint? I feel so slow!"

I asked him why the game needs sprint.

"Because it speeds the game up. Why don't spartans know how to run?"

Then I asked him why the game needs to be sped up.

"I don't know, I'm just used to it."

That's why Halo 5 and every future Halo will have sprint. You don't need another reason. Just give up already.

"Speeding games up" is exactly what I don't want in Halo, personally. I've always thought the pace of multiplayer games in Halo was near perfect. Sprinting IMO feels like it leads to more people playing like chickens with their heads cut off like in COD or Battlefield.

Scan all planets in the Universe

Bit OTT. How is that a thing. Some book stuff I've missed?

*Known universe

It was probably just going through a database of known elements on known planets, not actually scanning stuff in real time. In a future where AI constructs act and think like real humans + all of the benefits of computers I'm willing to accept that in the future they could have lightning fast SQL queries

Gotta be honest, I think Halo 5 looks great. I never thought I'd be saying that, but here I am.

I'll agree, but with some reservations. I can live with Sprint, though the game would be better if it was designed without it. If ADS is what they say it is, I guess I can live with that.

Thruster seems like one of those things that should've been in Halo from the beginning as long as it is moderated. 1 boost per encounter I can handle and the additional movement options it offers were fun as hell even in the Halo 4 incarnation.

I'm surprised at how little scrutiny the community is giving clamber. Could turn jumps into babby mode, or it could open up new and interesting movement options. Won't know until I try, but movement and pathing is such a huge part of Halo maps for me that this seems like it should be a bigger deal.

No, that's a moment of weirdness. Could be some Forerunner doodad they dug up? Or just a database comparison to all planets in the visible universe, maybe.

You know, after watching that gameplay I guess it doesn't look that bad. Just remove the shitty ADS and I will be fine. I can deal with sprint and thrusters.

I can't imagine how frustrating its going to be when people are sprinting and thrusting towards me all day. Sliding in with shotguns and I will be the first to get nailed by that ground pound.

Btw for those asking for patch notes for Wednesday's patch. Those will be given on Wednesday when the patch rolls-out.

Silly to wait, they need to tell people specifics to temper expectation. If this patch rolls out and doesn't fix the majority of MM issues, the shit storm will be unreal.

Last night I was searching in MM, gave up after 3-4 attempts. So I started the H2A campaign, and mid cut scene, I start hearing call outs from other players. Once the CGI ended, I was in game on Cairo Station, but still hearing the people call out stuff. The game hard locked shortly after. SMH

Halo 5 GAMEPLAY - [TRUTH] EXCLUSIVE Halo 5: Guardians Beta Gameplay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmbG7e9gGSM&list=UU-UXMS9Q-apozW8jALP5UZw

Make sure to watch it in 60fps :) Looks really awesome and the video shows (once more) that smart scope is just exactly what zoom ever was in Halo. I also like that the pistol seems to very strong again.
Solid footage. All the weapons look powerful and the movement looks fluid (as a spectator at least, might feel very different though). Grabbing ledges looks to be alright and might feel like a natural evolution of Halo's movement, and thankfully there are no double jumps because this combo would destroy maps (a DJ Powerup could be fun though). Even the Smart Scope is starting to grow on me, but we'll see.

Feeling optimistic about this beta. As someone who has always wanted Halo to be a game that allows my fingers to go to town on the controller, I'm excited to try it out. Thrusters, son.

Last night my friends and I were playing 2v2 customs on H2A, and we all came to the same conclusion...why do we have to have all these extra gameplay mechanics in Halo 5? I mean think about it, what is it in H2A that's missing so direly that the entire formula of Halo has to change? To me, the gameplay in H2A is just fine so why mess with it by adding gimmicky mechanics just to conform to what is being labeled in the industry a "modern" shooter.

Core classic Halo gameplay is fine the way it is. It's just like Quake, the core of Quake 3 is perfectly fine. Having updated graphics, etc, can always help with making the game a bit more enjoyable to play.

Look at Counter-strike Global Offensive...what did they add additionally from CS Source? A fire nade and taser...yet the core gameplay of CS remained intact. They didn't add sprint...or mantling ledges, etc., because by doing that, it wouldn't be CS anymore.

I've yet to read a valid argument that states specifically why Halo 5 needs to have the following items:
  • ADS - aim down the sights, whether it's the real deal or cosmetic
  • Thrusters
  • Mantling
  • Ground Pound
  • Sliding
  • Sprint

From the outside looking in at 343, especially with the producer's comment about "many people think sprint doesnt belong in Halo, so how do we balance that?", they're being told by higher ups to do this. Otherwise, what's the point of it? Are they that desperate to look similar to Tifanfall and Call of Duty AW?

Hell, by the time Halo 5 releases, I'm guessing Titanfall 2 will be just around the corner plus Call of Duty AW 2 or whatever other COD there will be, will probably still have the AW gameplay mechanics, so essentially within 12 months, we're going to have three games that are all very, very similar.

Just let Halo be Halo. It doesn't need to be anything else. It proved itself back in 2001 and 2004 that it was a juggarnaut of a game...completely different from everyone else...now it's trying to be like everyone else.

I definitely judged the leaked gifs way too harshly, game looks much better than I initially thought. Still not so sure about sprint and the 'ground pound' ability, but I guess we'll see in the beta.
