Krispy Kreme is overrated

So I finally had a Krispy Kreme donut with chocolate glazing and........

.....meh.

Some soft cake thing with a weak glaze. Must have cost about 5 cents to produce. I don't get what the big deal is supposed to be. Maybe if it had a creme filling it would make more of an impression.

Krispy Kreme is supposed to be better than Dunkin' Donuts so I am probably not even going to bother trying that.

I guess donuts aren't my thing then. So many better cakes.

A picture of the disappointing baked good:

did you get them fresh? Which is to say eat them within the first hour that they were made. Because beyond that they taste a day old. Not even kidding.

you have to get a fresh plain glazed at a krispy kreme store while it is still warm.

you will understand then.

You're doing it wrong. You have to get one of the fresh ones right off the line. The cold frosted ones are pretty blah.

Dunkin' Donuts is way better than krispy kreme, dunno where you heard otherwise. I prefer publix bakery donuts personally. best chocolate glazed donuts ever~

You can microwave a krispy kreme glazed donut for the same effect as their "straight off the belt" "hot sign flashing oh lawd pull over" ones.

Overall, doughnuts suck. They're just terrible for you and not worth the taste.

If I'm eating something bad, give me a fuckin' chocolate cake.

They were pretty hyped up when they put a few in my area about a decade ago. Now you can't even find one around. I agree with whoever said they're too sugary. They're not the worst donuts I've ever had, but I wouldn't even take them over other chain donut places.

The Krispy Kreme in Calgary shut down like 2 years after it opened.

It has been replaced with another overrated donut place, Tim Horton's.

Yes, it is.

So is Dunkin Donuts. When the first DD recently opened in SoCal there was a 2 hour line. Eyeroll.

Krispy Kreme is a relic of a company that hasn't changed one bit in decades. Just looking at that doughnut-I think boring, bland, same-old. There's almost certianly better options if you live a city nowadays.

Sugar aside...
Krispy Kreme Donuts' variety and taste >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Timmies
I had some this year after I told my sis how disappointed I was with the current Tim Hortons

It opened my eyes.... Sadly they're aren't too many of them here in Canada :(
Also you can't really eat a lot of them before the sugar high kicks in

Personal experience: those in my circle of friends / family who love plain glazed donuts are big Krispy Kreme fans. Those of us who prefer cream (or custard or jelly) filled donuts tend to greatly prefer Dunkin.

So I support the vague consensus here that, contrary to the name, plain glazed donuts are Krispy Kreme's primary claim to fame. But yes, those are boring, so I stick with Dunkin.

only get the raspberry or strawberry filled, or the lemon custard filled, or the chocolate cake glazed. Otherwise you're wasting time when you could be eating something else.

The only good KK donuts are the regular glazed ones and those with a filling of some kind (I prefer cream based fillings but their fruit ones are good too). And by "only good" I mean god-like.

The only donut I enjoy there is the glazed raspberry filled. All the rest are mediocre at best.

I once ate 6 Krispy Kremes in one sitting in college then played Halo 2 for 3 hours. It was a good day.

Krispy Kreme ruined their brand when someone said:

"We should box these guys... amiright? Then we can sell them litrallay anywahr."

I hope whoever said that got what was coming to him/her.

Eh. Krispy Kreme is just there. Not impressed.

I have a mortal weakness for District Donuts.

Each donut is large - to the point where each one is pretty much a serving of dessert. Any time I want to indulge, I go for a walk and stop by on the way home. Definitely makes me feel less guilty.

Krispy Kreme was waaaay better when they were confined to the American South. When they expanded and went global they did something to their recipe or standards that made them nowhere near as good.

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
meh, I think they're delicious. Those are the exact kind I get. Even the boxed ones from the grocery store. The doughnut elitists have already shown up in here though.
