I'm playing HL2 again after 7 or 8 years, the first time I saw HL2 was a guy playing the demo and I was blown away by how the physics worked. Ten years later and the experience still holds up, the controls are pretty good even the driving sections (I must be one the few who enjoy these sections) and the atmosphere works to make me feel immersed in the game. Some design choices nowadays could be seem as atypical nowadays like no health regen and no full body awareness (I like to think Gordon Freeman as a telepathic physicist).

I just started replaying Black Mesa, with a crapton of mods installed (Surface Tension Uncut, On A Rail Uncut, Loop Mod, Vent Mod, a mod that restores the original marines voices, and a change to the skill.cfg file to slightly dumb down the marines and make them more reasonable to fight against), with the intention to play HL2 right after I'm done with BM. Great minds think alike and all that.

Oh yeah, for the past week I've been receiving on a daily basis invites from guys who have like 5 games tops and have their profile set to private. Nothing shady about that, nothing shady at all.

Is it confirmed? that the 8GB coming out in 3 months? Will there be a 8GB version of the 970 as well?

Even as a possibly debunked rumour, I'm still holding out for a little while. At the very least, I'm hoping that by waiting I won't end up in a near-endless cycle of getting cards with coil whine like a lot of other people are getting.

If an 8GB version comes out sometime Q1 or Q2 of next year that's just the icing on the cake, really.

JaseC mentioned rumours of it... but then discussion in here said those rumours were debunked.

I went to the nVidia thread and asked, just to see if I got the same response before deciding to research prices and deals...

And I got told it could happen and then was lambasted for being a PC gamer who was afraid of upgrades being obsolete in the blink of an eye.

To be honest, I'd grab a 970 and just resell it should a 8GB card happen to come out. It's cheaper than a 980, it performs really well and can be OC'd pretty well too. Though my opinion is colored by the jump in performance going from a 570 to a 970.

Edit: also nvidia is giving a free game with a purchase since November 4? Damn it lol.

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
Fractured Space is kinda neat. It's an Unreal Engine 4 game. You move your ship towards space stations to capture them. You hold down all of your attack buttons simultaneously and target enemy ships to win. It's around a 900mb download. The one match I played lasted 23 minutes, but that was with a lot of screwing around. I have no idea how you use resources to upgrade your ship in a match.

I like the ship designs, but the map and backgrounds are pretty barren. There seems to be a cast of characters who all have context dependent dialog, which is neat. When an enemy ship appears, your tactical officer is all "Enemy targeted!" and when you hit an enemy with your...Disrupter? Your space russian weapons officer is all "Their engines are crippled, they're not going anywhere." So that's a nice bit of flavor.

No real hints on how it'll be monetized. I'm assuming horrible time limited XP/Credit boosters, and a BEST VALUE!! in game currency. You have access to a bunch of ships, but they're on tech trees that seem to imply they'll be unlocked with XP or currency or both.

At some point someone will be obligated to compare this to that Dreadnought game.

Finished Alien Isolation, best Alien game I've probably ever played.

Really good game with a few flaws, and too long to its own detriment.

Also it's amazing how fantastic the game looks even on old machines.

The game drags a bit at the end but that's its only flaw worth mentioning imo, I'm still amazed by how well it turned out, fantastic game and perfect use of the license.

I won this from user237, before entering I checked and I didn't have it, but when I tried to activate it it says I do, so if you win it and it doesn't work volvo or me messed up, if it works thank user237 instead of me.

A bit disappointed Betrayer was repeated so soon by groupees.

Also the Kiss bundle seems to be adding games at random, up to 12 now.

Was so much fun in my youth. It gave me the perfect sci-fi atmosphere and was one of the very few games I actually replayed multiple times. The gameplay is just so brutally satisfying. Very polished. Extremely well executed mix of third-person sword-play and first-person gunplay. Very epic story with loads of change of scenery. Shame that this series - or type of game tbh - was abandoned. Truly ahead of its time. Just classic.

Many years ago I tried Jedi Academy but they messed it up for me. Customizable character and choosable mission setup really messed up any chance for the devs to make a great, epic story about one focused and well explored character.

The 4GB version will hold up very well for the next 2 years I guess. But come on, the 8GB version - or at least 6GB - will come/be revealed in the next 6 months for sure. And with consoles being sadly a lot focused by devs and having around 5GB, I would say wait for a new reiteration to be safe... unless you got enough monies :p

It was given to owners of Strike Suit Zero... for 24 hours.
Reminds me of Dreadnought. Both look distinct enough to warrant separating them though.
Dreadnought is - of what they shown so far - mainly taking place planetside while Fractured Space seems to be a space oriented. Both look really nice for being f2p though.
Just watch the explosions of Dreadnought here. Or this "Tech" Video.

And here's the gameplay trailer for Fractured Space. Weird though that it costs 10 bucks now but the devs say in the second trailer on Steam that it will become f2p once it's finished. So I guess this EA-payed-sub will vanish after completion. JaseC should buy it beforehand ;)

PSA: Ensign-1, which featured in the 'Build a Greenlight Bundle 2' way back in May 2013, now has Steam keys available via Groupees.
Wow, this looks so cool. Thanks for posting. Wishlisted. Kinda like the oldschool-look of it.
Really fascinating that after hearing about No Mans Sky I keep finding similar games amass on Steam.

Just played a bit of Disney Infinity 2.0 (the launcher version not Steam) It's pretty fun but my god the motorcycle control is terrible. This game severely need controller support.

yeah wow valkyria is pretty good you guys

reminded me a lot of front mission, the military music, the talking heads storytelling, the general small stories inside huge resource wars, etc.

i'm kind of uncomfortable when i'm given like 10 dudes to manage, i find that i end up using 4 or 5 and just leaving the rest chilling in the lz

enjoying it a lot, alicia's the best

I see my thread was closed overnight about the pc exclusives (www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139881679).

It isn't 'list wars'. It's educating people about the breadth of the exclusive content that is on the platform and how silly are the comments about the PC not having any meaningful ones. If i wanted to do a list war, i wouldn't have set the criteria that i did.

It seem zkylon can't handle a little 10 men harem.
*lewd*

Also Veggie. I'll hold you to that. A GTX970 6/8GB VRAM better be announced in 6 months :p

Don't deploy all troops at start of the battle, just use squad leaders for bonus CP and a large enough contingent to liberate enemy bases.
You can deploy additional reinforcements from there then.

Yeah, I saw that. I think after all the fanboy wars between the consoles, the mods have become a bit over reactive. It's good that you did the leg work however, it will invariably be quite useful when the next PC vs Console thread happens.

yeah before posting i was thinking about doing just that for the next mission

i'm enjoying the difficulty so far, nothing really crazy but that bridge mission took me like three tries

and i really feel like playing some front mission now. really one of my favorite series, really sucks how that evolved is the last we've seen from that series, specially since surprisingly i didn't care at all for fm5.

valkyria really reminds me of fm, i hope it stays this cool and exciting

Ah, finally back in safe territory. Outside SteamGAF, especially that MGSV thread, was breaking my brainmeats with the constant grammar murders and lack of sarcasm senses.

Milamber don't into english no more.

EDIT: Also came back from watching Big Hero 6. I forgot Disney bought Marvel until this movie.

I don't know, that's pretty close to what a list war is. I don't think anyone should need to educate others what exclusive titles their favorite platform has, those threads don't really encourage discussion other then people posting "yeah look at all those games compared to consoles!", "lol pc gaming is dead amirite?".

Big Hero 6 doesn't come out in cinemas until the day after Xmas here.

And people wonder why Australia is such a hotbed of film piracy.

It has several purposes. Quick summary of all the exclusive games that meet the criteria in a sort of a year-in-review way. It offers a cross section of the genres those games span on. You can start a discussion on how a lot of PC games are overlooked when it comes to reviews, many of them having less than 20 reviews. And yes, it hopefully helps in eliminating factually wrong conceptions console players have about the exclusive content available on the PC.

Although it seems these type of misconceptions (1000$ PCs) still exist and flourish. My cynical tile probably played a part, but i just went with something little spicy.

Why the hell are people waiting on 950 TI?
We do already have a Maxwell x50 GPU on the market, the godly 750 TI, I can't imagine how a name change version would be a better deal?
