Destiny: Exotic weapons fixed.... and then broken.

They saved us from a lot of unnecessary grind, then they add another unnecessary grind on top of it. I'm over their stupid decisions. Reset my exotics and I'll no longer be happy. I don't mind grinding for new weapons and armor and upgrading them, but for OLD? Very bad decision.

I was happy and fine all the way up until this point. They lost a lot of people prior to last week, gained some back with the less-grindy patch, and now lost a crap ton. 2 steps up and easily 3+ steps backs.

If you just pretend that your current exotic is a new exotic that you just got dropped, then there is no difference between grinding upgrades for new weapons or old weapons. Same time commitment.

I think I'm more bothered by the changes to faction legendaries. Ranking up was already PAINFULLY slow, and now we need to rank up just to buy slightly better legendaries that are still worse than raid gear and exotics? Yuck. That seems like a far worse grind than the new exotic upgrades.
This too.

Hope you have all of your characters at level 29/30 already, because good luck getting there now that you can only get a single item per reputation levels.

What the fuck are they thinking? This change will shut out almost all new players after they hit 24.

So this is fucking stupid. Fortunately for me, I have barely been able to come across any exotic armor and exactly 0 exotic weapons, so my Destiny life won't change TOO much.

Holy shit. So Bungie puts out a patch with no-brainer fixes that should have been introduced two months ago. Then plans on adding an entire slew of dumb, retarded mechanics that will probably take another 2-3 months for them to roll back.

Haven't bought the expansion yet, but was planning to. After reading about these garbage changes I think that may be it for me.

They shouldn't reset the progress on exotics. They should just add a few more upgrade nodes that increase attack rating. They are basically taking away all of the time that I spent upgrading my exotics. What the hell are Bungie thinking? They had to have known this would piss almost everyone off.

The only difference is the time and energy you already invested into the weapon?

Then keep your weapon at 300? You aren't forced to upgrade.

For a game about getting better loot and higher and higher numbers that's a good solution.

You wouldn't. You'd have a new, empty node on your vanilla exotic and you'd need to fill it up with XP and then spend a shard to complete it.

But hey, I'm just a guy. Not a game designer at Bungie, unfortunately.

So, like I said, on the 9th.

Otherwise you're really just swapping one grind for another in name and kind. I'd rather work through my perks again reasonably than have to pour 150,000XP+ into one node with nothing to look foward to.

Guess bungie guessed wrong that Prestiging is still a thing people like, because that's effectivly what this is dling without messing with your damage outputs.

I'm fine with the change, but they should of posted this weeks ago as I feel bad for the people who used mats to upgrade said exotic.

Essentially Bungie has made leveling any not top tier exotic a waste because every 3 months the same bullshit will happen again.

Right after they make more exotics worth using, they make them useless again.

Seems like everyone that's complaining is "misinformed". Do you not like playing the game? Do you not like having more stuff to do and things to play? If you don't like the game, simply trade it in, go play another game, no one will fault you for it.
Terrible, terrible post! More to do? LOL!! More of the same you mean!!! This is not adding content. It's fluff to keep us around longer.

You get it, other people don't seem to. If you didn't have to reset anything, people would be maxed out the day the expansion drops and complaining where the content was. It's thin enough as it is, the grind is there to give you something to do.

Most people get it. Most people that enjoy the game wont post here because of all the complainers.

So to upgrade one exotic fully it will cost you two exotics...

Bungie, why you suck so much?

Or some strange coins which are super easy to get. I have over 180 at the moment.

yes that's whet should be causing the outrage. It's a bullshit change and should be called out. The exotic change isn't a big deal.

This would be even more golden if you are not sarcastic. Let's pretend that bad games are good games while we are at it, it will surely feel just like a good game. Same time commitment and all.

So I take it the Vanguard and Crucible vendors will be selling the same weapons they have now, only improved versions with higher attack?

I just read that the new weapon's base attack will be higher than a maxed out old weapon, so it's not like you are starting out with a less powerful gun. It will actually be slightly more powerful. Again, the outrage here is just silly and overreacting.

It's the perks bro. They should have just added some more damage nodes to the gun when you upgrade. That actually makes sense you know. But fuck it, gotta keep that grind alive.

Deej spitting in the face of all the Destiny players is just icing on the cake.

These are some of the dumbest changes made to an online game I've ever seen.

It's almost as if Bungie didn't examine a single MMO before making Destiny. There were years and years worth of material from previous MMOs that could have been looked at to see what worked, what didn't, etc., and Bungie simply blew it off.

DeeJ likes to say that Bungie's always listening, right? Well, listen to this, DeeJ:

This is not the way to introduce new content while keeping existing gear relevant. Not. Even. Close.

This really just feels like they're trying to find ways to artificially lengthen the game, still.
Well, have you read how much "content" is in the ""expansion?""

We know that one of the Strikes is a re-skin. What do you want to bet that the second Strike is as well?

I'm going to laugh when Crota is an over-sized Knight (which at this point, I think EVERYONE is expecting).

I love how they patch the game to make vanguard levels take longer to increase two days before letting it be known that you have to increase vanguard levels to buy vanguard gear going forward. It's like bungie is playing their own meta game to see how much fun they can suck out of the game before people stop playing.

On the plus side I'll be able to start working through my backlog now, and I'm very glad that I waited before throwing money at the expansion. Their answer to releasing a $20 content bare expansion is to make the current grind even longer. Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes for destiny 2...

I'd love to know the current figures for the amount of players for Destiny now compared to a week or so after launch.

As for Bungie, I think the whole team have a serious god complex, "it's not us, it's you"

Yup. The entire point of Exotics is that they have fucking awesome perks.

How many exotics are actually better at 302 damage than 300 damage with their perks?
Maybe, Universal Remote?

If it looks like an MMO and plays like an MMO.....

Seriously, this is what you get when you put MMO mechanics in to your game. It"s the legendaries that annoy me most and has me questioning my will to carry on. The exotic reforging is better than most MMO type systems but 7k glimmer and a shard is too steep.

Thing is, we can only equip one weapon and one armor exotic at a time - the rest have to be made up from legendaries which we'll have to re-buy with yet another new currency barrier (commendations are now needed, which you only get every time you level up a faction) and then upgrade from scratch with ascendant materials again, which are even harder to get now.

Fuck. That.

Yea I can't do that. I can't pretend because I know it's not. I have plenty of current guns i'm in the process of upgrading already so I don't have time to do old ones again, let alone the new ones that will get. Way too much. Keep the old ones and add new bubbles or reset the last x amount of bubbles, something. Not a complete regrind, just maybe a tiny bit. I don't mind doing the current ones and new ones.

That's correct. All of your old Legendaries are rendered useless, with no upgrade path (like with Exotics).

RIP Comedian and Shadow Price, I hardly knew ye. ;_;

You better believe it. That's apparently the way they designed Destiny: intentional obsolescence to manufacture grind states that keep people playing.

Pretty sure they didn't decrease the rate of Vanguard rep, only Cryptarch.

Those are all things you require at some point to buy something or participate in something. Hence "currency" in quotes. They made an already convoluted system even worse by adding more currencies/gates.

Yeah, putting in these MMO mechanics without actually providing the amount of content MMOs have is really burning me out on the game.

Then keep your weapon at 300? You aren't forced to upgrade.

I'm not forced to upgrade it as long as I don't want to ever use it while playing the new content you mean. Seeing as how you'll need it to be maxed to be fully effective against higher level enemies I'm either stuck wasting my time regrinding or wasting my time pouring more bullets into their bullet sponge enemies because my weapon doesn't do as much damage.

The thing is, this is worse than any MMO I've played.

It's like they looked at a list of bullet points for an MMO and said, "hm yeah ok we can do that" and that's the extent of their research.

If all exotics upgrade faster, then I might be OK with this. As in at least twice as fast as they currently do, if not faster.
