Smash POTD's officially ending reminded me this and the Xenoblade twitter updates are a thing; is there a reason why Nintendo's not bothering to translate these? Considering how well the game went over at the last E3 and how quickly the internet fanbase grew over something that wont' be out for awhile, I thought they'd be more willing to act on that international popularity.

Translating the tweets into other languages (it would have to be more than just English) is likely resource intensive and these games don't have the mind share of Smash. At least that is what I figure is Nintendo's rationale. It would be pretty cool though :)

I'm not a huge FPS guy but I love pretty much everything I've seen of this IP and given the internet response I'm not alone. This needs to be a comic, an anime, DLC for Smash, Amiibos, merch up the wazoo, etc.

It's not an FPS so you're golden :)

Translated the two most recent tweets before bed. :)

This is another device made by the Octupus Army Corps. Shooting the propellers of this fan-like device with ink will cause the platform's motor to run. Moving the propellers too fast will sometimes cause enemies to dive onto the platform. You must be cautious when using these platforms.

One of our researchers got their hands on what appears to be blue prints for the Octopus Army's weapons.
This one will automatically follow any intruders and shower them with a rain-like ink to chase them away. The Inkling's attacks appear to have no affect on this device. That is one scary weapon....

luckily it's TPS! pretty much the only reason i'm interested in this is because it's TPS instead of an FPS.

brown inkling bro & white inkling gal need to be Smash 4 DLC.

Me neither, but at least the primary multiplayer mode appears to be a shooter for unskilled shooters.

As someone who loves blue, Orange Ink-sis and Green Ink-bro are the best two highlighted customizations so far.

Same for me.
Well, I used to like shooters before the 7th gen, but since I keep trying them and only a few one interest me (like Borderland for its co-op RPG nature).
And then I saw Splatoon in the Digital Event, at first I wasn't impressed but Treehouse Live happened and now I love it.

I dunno, just seems like when they're tweets rather than the more elaborate blog-style affairs Smash updates always are (which also have to go up on Miiverse) it shouldn't be that hard to translate. Means I'm more in the dark about the game until it comes out at least.

It also could be that due to the Xenoblade and Splatoon tweets being an initiative handled by development staff; it's more difficult to organise translation for various languages compared to a more structured effort like the Smash Bros. Miiverse posts. Also, along with the projects themselves being smaller; I'd imagine that the Smash updates transitioning from an internal thing to regularly scheduled public updates involved assigning more translation and marketing staff than would be allocated to Splatoon at the moment.

And when each is translated within an hour or two and quickly disseminates via social media without any further action from them, they might not see it as being worth the effort.

Could be they're just waiting until there's a good collection of tweets, translate 'em, then post one a day until the game's release as part of the North American/Europe marketing campaign.

The IQ is almost too good to be true. Is it possible that these are bullshots?

In the ones that are big enough to tell they are high res press shots for sure, which is fairly normal. The videos of the game don't seem to use any AA so don't expect this game to magically have better IQ than every other Wii U game.

New tweet emerged

Holy shit its happening.

I think MST and EADKYO have their periods synced up

That's a weapon created by the Octopi powered by those battery catfish you guys mentioned earlier .

Its located in the basement of their base.

Apparently it presents quite the challenge for our little squidling

I've been becoming more and more interested in this game. I thought it looked cool from the moment I saw it, but there were so many other games coming out sooner that I didn't give it all that much attention. That's changing! Any idea when it's supposed to come out?

Assuming it won't be delayed, Q2 next year. Not sure that's for Japan or worldwide.

Sweet. That's not too long of a wait for a game that's essentially been off my radar till now. I'm not sure if I'll be able to really enjoy it as someone who's REALLY into Halo. I'm afraid it'll be similar enough (4v4 shooter) for me to want to draw unfair comparisons... And I'm afraid I'll end up just wishing it was more like Halo. Hopefully I can get over that and appreciate it for what it is, though. Honestly, I want to support it for its stylish, colorful, and racially diverse art if nothing else.

Well Halo's a different kind of shooter.
This is a game where your goal is territory. The moreterritoyr ( portion of the ground that's covered in your color ink) the higher the score. Since its a team shooter thats the goal. But you get graded on performance after each fight, covering more area, getting kill shots (which splatters more of your ink on the ground ect) contributes to the score. So you' have two grading metrics.) Its basically a MVP grading .

Anyway the best thing about the game is there's never a wasted moment. Unless you're shooting ink at the wall as that doesnt contribute to your teams score at all.

Laying down ink increases your movement options and your ability to replenish ammo. And you can also automatically go anywhere on the field by jumping to your teamates by flying like a real squid.

Lots of cool playstyles and battle tactics arise from this ( stealth sneak ups, ink fake outs, splatter hopping, wall running) Its a highly mobile shooter.

Heh, that's quite the weapon indeed.

I got the feeling the final boss is going to be fun, though I hope they don't spoil it on Twitter (who knows, Nintendo's been rather spoilery recently).

I cant shake the feeling that the game will have a real mindfuck twist at the end... Who knows the end boss may end up as?

New tweet yay :D

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Is this a more traditional online shooter mode compared to the one we've seen at E3? No good guys, bad guys, cat, % of territory for each team...just a classic ranking with pts, amount of deaths and kills...don't know what those "12", "6", "5" near players' icon stand for.
