Didn't you do that video where you both and a friend of yours argued over which console has the best exclusives and you rallied for Microsoft and whenever your friend tried to get a word in edgewise, you shouted him down, nearly biting his head off without letting him talk?Yeah guys I'm the editor in chief of that site and I wrote that article.
With regard to third party exclusivity being a 'thing' I should have clarified that I'm talking about the nature in which games you wouldn't ever assume were going to be swept up for lifetime exclusivity are now going to become caught up in this trend. Whilst TR doesn't fall under this because it's timed, I feel that the Sony contingent going on the defence regarding this deal, somehow assuming that this is now an equitable response to MS' actions will only ratify this trend in the future. It'll soon become the acceptable norm considering just how early on and just how iconic these franchises are.
As Bish stated, the weekend is really going to test the NeoGaf servers. I think that speaks volumes too, honestly. :]
SFV is a pretty big deal as evidenced in the reactions in this thread. However, I can understand that not everyone is into fighting games. All the rumblings over the past few days about PSX seem to suggest there will be something for a lot of other people who aren't necessarily into SFV.
So after all these years of SF4, has the pro community determined obvious flaws in the fighting system? Things that need or should change in SF5? Does it need another meter or does it have too many meters? Just in general, what could Capcom actually change is what I'm asking as a casual fan.
I tried to learn Abel when SF4 came out and failed miserably.
Jesus, the only thing I can see topping SFV exclusivity is FFXVI announced...
Such are these times that there won't be a handheld version for some train or bus sparring
Wow, as a ps4 only owner, I don't agree with the exclusivity.
I seriously doubt Xbox owners care. They've already got Killer Instinct as a full exclusive.
If you're going to get that abstract about it, you could just take it one step further:
They would only spend the money to lock down an exclusive if they thought it would be ultimately profitable (selling consoles and getting people into the ecosystem via a stable of good exclusives).
If it's a profitable decision, then they'd actually have more money down the line to spend on creating other games.
It's not that simple, but it's not as simple as you make it either -- as evidenced by how easy it is to turn your argument on its head and logically come to the exact opposite conclusion.
Because this is SFV it should be different and introduce a new mechanic (if it's suitable). Alpha 2 and 3 are great for their own reasons, but have issues all on their own, too. III is amazing for also its own reasons, but then again not, and same for IV.
The beauty of SF is there've been a good mix of mechanics in each iteration and series that we should expect something new again, yet still have the SF DNA.
What I don't want to see from a gameplay POV is SFV to just be SFIV.5/SFIV-2. It'd be a crying shame if this happens, in my opinion.
I don't think I really answered your question...there are just things people love from each game and also dislike. Guess we'll see what we get...
I'd buy a Vita for SFV.If Sony is actually helping its probably never going to come out on Vita.

Maybe they didn't for all we know Capcom came to them and wanted help in the very least funding the game. You're right, I'll be patient and wait for further details, but it's just funny because of what Sony said post TR deal "we don't need to buy exclusivity".

And even if they do care, they can just grab it on PC, just like PS fans grabbed Titanfall on PC.

Microsoft ain't even mad since you will need Windows to be able to play it on PC.
You are no different than the person you are calling out. Don't kid yourself.
Wow. Damn impressive teaser. Celebrates the history and cultural impact of this revered franchise without coming across as sappy. I love it.
I hope those models are placeholders. My heart cant take another SF4 art style SF.
But they're not the ones getting paid for each copy sold on PC. Capcom is.
So...all the Ono teases and Hadouken Cabs stuff...i thought it was as simple as paying for a PS4 port of USF4. But SF5!? Unless we find Out this deal was made cause Capcom was about to go out of business and could not even afford to make the game, it was a bad move by Sony, an unfortunate one really. They should definitely have funded something that was never going to be made otherwise. Now i would not surprised if they get tons of blowback for this. Atleast from the Xbox guys, the PC guys are fine.
That being said, i do atleast like that they are being upfront about it. No sneaky language implying that its timed for a certain duration according to the terms of the contract. Straight out with "its exclusive, that's it....until the super edition ".
But yeah, if it was exclusive only until the Super edition comes out, Sony better had not paid anything for it, cause that would have been like walking into a brick wall fully aware, you dont get anything from that to begin with...except maybe brand name awareness on your platform?? I only associate the Alpha games and the EX games with Playstation cause they were only on those outside of arcade...maybe that kind of thing does work
Seeing a game trailer with Explosions in the Sky in it is not something I ever expected to happen, but there it is.
God what a great fucking band. Here's to hoping SFV is great too.
Not sure if serious....Wow, didn't expect a sequel this soon.
In the end we just don't have any information about why this is only on the PS4 and PC. It could be that Sony help fund it, it could be that Sony paid for it, or it could be that Capcom's budget/time at the moment only allows for them to make it on PS4 and PC.
Wow, didn't expect a sequel this soon. I suck at fighting games but I'll probably still play this, I had a lot of fun with SF4.

Well, people wanted must have games on the PS4, looks like they got it lol.
And an even bigger megaton tommorrow? Jesus mother fucking christ. What in gods name could be bigger than Street Fighter V exclusive?
The Last Guardian. It has to be!
Sony now has it's exclusive fighter. Microsoft can keep Killer Instinct.
You need to spend a ton to play KI, SFV, GGXrd, SSB and Pokkén. At least MKX is on basically every system.Sony now has it's exclusive fighter. Microsoft can keep Killer Instinct.
