Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Eh, not port begging. Just saying it'd be dumb to avoid the massive sales of Xbox One in the US/UK/Canada due to recent price drops. Japan exclusivity would make sense, but they'd lose out on a lot of sales for NA/UK exclusivity.

Yeah guys I'm the editor in chief of that site and I wrote that article.

With regard to third party exclusivity being a 'thing' I should have clarified that I'm talking about the nature in which games you wouldn't ever assume were going to be swept up for lifetime exclusivity are now going to become caught up in this trend. Whilst TR doesn't fall under this because it's timed, I feel that the Sony contingent going on the defence regarding this deal, somehow assuming that this is now an equitable response to MS' actions will only ratify this trend in the future. It'll soon become the acceptable norm considering just how early on and just how iconic these franchises are.
Didn't you do that video where you both and a friend of yours argued over which console has the best exclusives and you rallied for Microsoft and whenever your friend tried to get a word in edgewise, you shouted him down, nearly biting his head off without letting him talk?

Glad to see things haven't changed...

As Bish stated, the weekend is really going to test the NeoGaf servers. I think that speaks volumes too, honestly. :]

SFV is a pretty big deal as evidenced in the reactions in this thread. However, I can understand that not everyone is into fighting games. All the rumblings over the past few days about PSX seem to suggest there will be something for a lot of other people who aren't necessarily into SFV.

Jesus, the only thing I can see topping SFV exclusivity is FFXVI announced...

So the question is, how do I make my madcatz te and regular fight stick compatible with the ps4? Howwwwww??????

So after all these years of SF4, has the pro community determined obvious flaws in the fighting system? Things that need or should change in SF5? Does it need another meter or does it have too many meters? Just in general, what could Capcom actually change is what I'm asking as a casual fan.

I tried to learn Abel when SF4 came out and failed miserably.

Because this is SFV it should be different and introduce a new mechanic (if it's suitable). Alpha 2 and 3 are great for their own reasons, but have issues all on their own, too. III is amazing for also its own reasons, but then again not, and same for IV.

The beauty of SF is there've been a good mix of mechanics in each iteration and series that we should expect something new again, yet still have the SF DNA.

What I don't want to see from a gameplay POV is SFV to just be SFIV.5/SFIV-2. It'd be a crying shame if this happens, in my opinion.

I don't think I really answered your question...there are just things people love from each game and also dislike. Guess we'll see what we get...

Edit: As for the "Nothing can top SFV" tweet, I'm ultra biased towards SF so I don't believe that!

If you're going to get that abstract about it, you could just take it one step further:

They would only spend the money to lock down an exclusive if they thought it would be ultimately profitable (selling consoles and getting people into the ecosystem via a stable of good exclusives).

If it's a profitable decision, then they'd actually have more money down the line to spend on creating other games.

It's not that simple, but it's not as simple as you make it either -- as evidenced by how easy it is to turn your argument on its head and logically come to the exact opposite conclusion.

I'm being abstract because that money could go several places: new games, bigger budgets for currently planned games, acquiring studios, what have you. It could go to any number of places so I'd rather not be locked down with "that money could go to new games".

Profitable in that they'll make back the money they put into it? They still would get money from the games bought on their platform if it comes out on other platforms except then there's little to no risk to them if the game fails. Putting their money in may mean they think it'll be more profitable than having it be third party but that can easily back fire, it's a risk, calculated or otherwise, that isn't needed it just to keep it off the competitors platform. Again, I'm speaking on the "it was gonna be multiplat but they bought exclusion" and not a Bayo 2, Scalebound, BloodBourne situation.

Seeing a game trailer with Explosions in the Sky in it is not something I ever expected to happen, but there it is.

God what a great fucking band. Here's to hoping SFV is great too.

Eh, we never really confirmed the reason for monhun's semi-exclusivity, we might never get the true story of what's going on behind the scenes here.

Thanks. I didn't even know that thing about new machanics. So this really is a huge deal for the fighting games community. That's neat.

You're right, I'll be patient and wait for further details, but it's just funny because of what Sony said post TR deal "we don't need to buy exclusivity".
Maybe they didn't for all we know Capcom came to them and wanted help in the very least funding the game.

You do realize you're saying the PS4 with its 143 games released has 68 more games than the xbox right?

The wikipedia page is wildly incorrect. The site linked is far more accurate.

I seriously doubt Xbox owners care. They've already got Killer Instinct as a full exclusive.

And even if they do care, they can just grab it on PC, just like PS fans grabbed Titanfall on PC.

More reason to care, lot of people got a taste for fighting games on the Xbox One and want one. KI3 is neat but is not SF5.

Oh man, I can still remember the first time I played SF4. Such a magic moment. SF2 was my first console game ever. I love that series.

My wishlist

Get the full Street Fighter III Third Stike cast back
Get back Karin, Sodom and Birdie.
Include at least 4 new characters

More offensive play style
More air juggles as shown in the Teaser
All supers available at once, similar to Alpha

Story mode similar to Mortal Kombat
Story to take place after Street Fighter III series

Well, people wanted must have games on the PS4, looks like they got it lol.

And an even bigger megaton tommorrow? Jesus mother fucking christ. What in gods name could be bigger than Street Fighter V exclusive?

The Last Guardian. It has to be!

So...all the Ono teases and Hadouken Cabs stuff...i thought it was as simple as paying for a PS4 port of USF4. But SF5!? Unless we find Out this deal was made cause Capcom was about to go out of business and could not even afford to make the game, it was a bad move by Sony, an unfortunate one really. They should definitely have funded something that was never going to be made otherwise. Now i would not surprised if they get tons of blowback for this. Atleast from the Xbox guys, the PC guys are fine.

That being said, i do atleast like that they are being upfront about it. No sneaky language implying that its timed for a certain duration according to the terms of the contract. Straight out with "its exclusive, that's it....until the super edition ;)".

But yeah, if it was exclusive only until the Super edition comes out, Sony better had not paid anything for it, cause that would have been like walking into a brick wall fully aware, you dont get anything from that to begin with...except maybe brand name awareness on your platform?? I only associate the Alpha games and the EX games with Playstation cause they were only on those outside of arcade...maybe that kind of thing does work

Wow. Damn impressive teaser. Celebrates the history and cultural impact of this revered franchise without coming across as sappy. I love it.

Wow, didn't expect a sequel this soon. I suck at fighting games but I'll probably still play this, I had a lot of fun with SF4.

In the end we just don't have any information about why this is only on the PS4 and PC. It could be that Sony help fund it, it could be that Sony paid for it, or it could be that Capcom's budget/time at the moment only allows for them to make it on PS4 and PC.

I never expected to hear fucking Mogwai in a video game, but then I played Spec Ops The Line and there they were.

First and foremost, they're a Japanese company. And Xbone just isn't selling there. It could be Sony, it could be Capcom just targeting the largest audience first, in Japan. We won't know until info gets leaked or officially announced. Until then, this thread is fun!

I can't wait to play SF5 on PS4. :D Now, I need to buy that TE2 stick, though...

Yeah, by the time this comes out, it'll have been at least 7 years. Definitely too soon for a sequel... /sarcasm.

I don't know if they are using the same models but if they are they are obviously going to make the textures and shadows higher resolution so you don't get stuff like Zangief ( the only good picture I could find doesn't load.)

Totally random, but I hope that SFV goes back to the jazzy composition style of Third Strike/the SFIII generation for its music.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Such are these times that there won't be a handheld version for some train or bus sparring :(

If Sony's role is mainly to have the game not coming on Xbox One, then, in the future...when a more powerful Nintendo handheld is released... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Seriously, though, 3DS cannot handle Street Fighter V for sure, maybe next handheld actually can, and I can see one of all the versions the game will get (in pure Capcom/SF fashion) coming to 4DS / whatever you want to call it. As well as...let's say as many platforms as possible :lol

Really interested in hearing the behind the scenes stuff if anything ever leaks about this. SF5 was the last thing I was expecting to go console exclusive.

Oh, my...
At SFIV and SFIVAE launch on PC I remember alot of Xbox friends trolling the PC version "kajin", "unpure", "console is the original version", "it will be full of cheaters, for sure", "nobody will play it", "fuck graphics ink filters, 720p is the real deal", "blablabla".

Patt, patt for you guys, wherever you are. :)

That twitter tease. If so, daaaaamn. Yeah, I haven't seen his comment but if so Bish is usually right on the money, I still remember when he said he was preparing a bunker last time.
