Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions |OT| After 6 years of Pacifism, the King returns.

That I ever really notice it then!

lol - I guess I'm at the point where I expect it to happen so you try to plan around it if possible.

EDIT AGAIN: Actually if you go to the about the 43:50 mark in that video, it's the exact death we're talking about :)

Any this gen console version recommended over the other? Leaning torwards Xbone version as I just got it and wouldn't mind using it more. Plus I logged mass hours with the previous 2 on Xbox. ;)

Kicking myself for missing preorder stuff, are they available as $ DLC?

I'm global number #1 on the Hexend level! 10.9 million points (PS4).

Endurence is the last level I need three stars for. I got so close, 197 million points... :-(

This game is criminally under appreciated. I know it was received well, but the reviews do not do it justice with how mind blowing it is. Probably my GOTY when it is all said and done.

Any PS3 players in here? I really want to be able to compare scores, though mine are terrible right now since I am just getting started. Add me @ MattNY, or post yours.

If the OP is around, can we get anything added with gamertags for platforms so people can add one another? This is just like Trials to me, half the fun is trying to top one another.

Is the leaderboard server 'not available' half the time on xbone only or is it happening to every version? never had that with the other two :/

I get this often, go to the main game menu choose xbox live and connect. then go back to adventure mode and it will be fine. Luckily scores are posted to the leaderboards when you reconnect.

Really enjoying this game, the reviews are overstating the negative aspects of the game and to my mind it still has the pure eyes out on stalks game play of the previous games.

If anyone wants to add me I'm on Xbox One GT: DM2

Ugh. I go through the initial spawn gate in Pacifism, and the next one spawns literally in front of me, and I crash.

All I've been playing is Pacifism to outdo my freak accident of 16 million. Don't know if I'll ever beat that lol.

By the way, I notice that bullets bounce of gates in Classic Evolved. Are those worth any bonus points?

So far I know: Blackholes give you more points for enemies caught in explosion, and that gates are worth 5x the points.

Any other tricks?

I'll probably be working on a multi-platform GAF leaderboard soon. If there's people on every platform, maybe I can update the Worldwide top spot on top of the GAF scores.

You'll be happy to know that I finally kicked Lil Black BUBBA out of the #1 spot on Titans Revenge!

Hahahaha, nice. How much longer did it take after I left?

like 24 hours. I stopped and came back to it the next day.

Thanks, added to the OP. These people are ridiculous. Halo: MCC gets a 9.0 and there was literally nothing that worked properly out of the box and much of the game is still busted, but this highly polished, quite varied game that works at launch gets a 7.9. Give me a break. Probably weren't good enough to get past the 1st boss or something so there's "no variety".

Unsure if this has been posted...didn't see it on the front page of the thread ;)

PC Gamer: 86/100 - "Difficulty spikes aside, this is a great PC edition of a fantastic arcade shooter"

I saw on Twitter that Justin Towell (of GamesRadar UK) has completed the game and earnt all the stars. Perhaps he should review the new game instead of Dave Houghton although the GRUK office might break out in a fight.

Added, thanks!

IGN's score is about what I'd give it (probably closer to a 7) but lack of variety would be the last thing I'd say about it.

Ah, fair call. I can't read the article at work, can only go on what's posted here.

Yeah - people and reviewers are going to have different opinions about everything, but when you try to put a score on a thing and justify it with pretty unfounded reasons, I'm going to call them out on it.

Pacifism can be played with just your left hand, right? Any other modes that can?

I usually mostly play first/third person shooters, but I broke a finger on my right hand, and doing anything with that hand hurts.

Maybe King if you're good at juggling.

Does this game, purchased today, include the bonus levels? The PSN store seems to suggest it would at least include Symbolic level, but no mention of Secret Eye level. Is there a way to get the Secret Eye level?

I have awoken from my Geometry Wars induced coma.

Fuckin' Geometry Wars. It's like 2005 360 launch all over again, staying up until 2am restarting over and over and over again for a high score. Putting aside other games like GTA V and Dragon Age: Inquisition just to finish a few more levels in Adventure Mode.

Had an absolute blast with this one, got a few problems for sure, but this is the most fun I've had with a Geo Wars game. I think I would have liked to have seen the Pacifism levels in A.Mode be Waves or something else, instead. Pacifism sucks. Pretty much everything else was gravy.

Hit #1 global on 3 or 4 levels on PSN at one point, was pretty happy/proud about that. Sometimes I would spend up to 2 hours replaying the same level over and over again, only breaking to piss and smoke.

Was a little apprehensive about this one at first, but it turns out to be easily the best downloadable game I've played this year.

And the music sucks. A lot.

A YT video from the GRUK bod who completed the game with 150 stars:

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions - 3-star boss run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXWD9S2Un9I

I trust this will assist a few people.

I only watched the final boss, but c'mon man, attack drone? That's not how you go for a score. Anyway, just got my 150th star, most of my boss run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlPC_BXECi0

God I hate how the game dvr claims to grab 5 minutes then only does 4:23 worth. Also, of course the leaderboards are down so I can't see how well I stack up. I'm not really going to try to chase any number ones or anything, but I do like to get the numbers looking respectable.

I'm definitely going to grab this game for the Vita when it comes out. Perfect game IMO for picking up and playing when I have a few minutes.

Wait so pacificsm mode is bad in this?

Bad? No. Not at all. But it is not an absolute 100% mechanical reconstruction of GeoWars2 Pacifism mode and there's always going to be a few purists who blow the differences out of proportion.

Pacifism is fine.

It's not bad, but it isn't as good.

I would argue Pacifism is objectively worse in this game because of some hit detection issues. I don't think anyone will ever be able to pull of billion + scores in Pacifism in Geometry Wars 3.

But hey, I still like it enough to want to chase that number 1 score!

I have 148 stars. Just have 1 star to get on Super Sequence and 1 on the second to last boss.

What are everybody's favorite loadouts?

I usually use Sniper with Turret. Sniper saves your ass constantly I find, especially when your aim sucks like mine does.

Co-op mode really bugs me. They have crappy competitive modes that you can play online, but co-op is single system only? Yuck. Tried to get through it one player, but you can mostly only make one star that way, and I think level 7 or so is impossible to solo. Maybe I can learn to get enough out of player 2 controlling it with my feet. Yeah, that's probably gonna keep me from getting to 1000/1000. I'm only missing co-op, the secret achievement that seems to be slowly but surely going up (total points earned? total geoms collected?) and the one for dying to each enemy. At 96% there. I'll probably need a guide with a list of all enemies and where to find them and just brute force my way to find what I'm missing.

Favorite loadouts depends, usually Collect is best for getting the best score, but the ones where you have to clear the board to add to the timer benefit from Snipe so you're not stuck hunting a lone straggler off screen or whatever. If I really feel the need for more firepower to stay alive then the one that shoots in the same direction as you is probably the way to go, it'll do more work than Snipe when things get really hairy. For the other half of the loadout, I don't know, Homing is good, it's practically like a bomb as far as effectiveness as a 'Dammit' button, Turret will clear the board pretty well as well but you need to hang on a second or two before it saves you. The one that doubles your drone is probably best combined with Collect for the real pro scores. I didn't find Black Hole very useful. The Miner is kind of fun, but it doesn't actually seem all that useful. I may have missed some of the other options, I should revisit them now that they're all powered up. Oh, Defend shot behind you instead of forward like the drone. No thanks. And Ram smashed stuff? I'm pretty sure I used that one the King level, or maybe it was the Sharpshooter one where you had limited ammo... I can't remember. Some of the niche abilities are pretty obviously useful for certain stages and crap for everything else.

Lacks variety? LOL

GOTY for me

If you compare the coop options to those in GW2 (as I mentioned, above), it lacks the ability to play all of the classic modes in single screen coop. This was one of the best parts of GW2.

As far as single player is concerned, I prefer GW3 due to adventure mode. However, I prefer the Pacifism movement from GW2. However, it is clear they slowed the ship down because there were some people who could literally stay alive until the entire screen filled. I still find myself getting killed by things that do not appear in the same area I am in. I also wish that some of the 2D levels would fit in the boundaries of the screen instead of having that weird camera that moves a little.

I started to look at gameplay videos of this once it was announced for PS Vita.

The game looks amazing, I can't wait to give the devs my $$$. Any word if this is cross buy? If so I'll probably just get it on PS4 now.

This+Super Stardust Delta+Resogun on Vita=life.

The last boss is such BS and just sums up some of the horrendously poor design decisions all in one level.

Just the length of the level or something in particular? I like all the phases on their own but did thing it was frustrating with how long it was. At least 3 stars is really easy to get on it.

The fact that it does everything it can to fuck you over. Its overly long, it goes through multiple ways to make you fail (send in the random yellow things, red walls, the walls around the boss that skip in and out. The boss levels aren't even fun. They said it was a requested feature from fans, i'd like to know if these fans thought they were talking about Super Stardust or something.

Adventure mode was such a waste of development time. Theres all of 2 decent levels amongst 50.

Such a disappointing "sequel" in so many ways, the only good thing about it really is classic mode and they butchered the music as well.

Didn't get the original guy to do the music for some reason. Never mind, somehow the developers of iOS twin-stick Infinity Field managed to afford him and get him to do the music for that.

So many more than 2 good adventure levels. The boss levels do kind of suck though.
