That was for pure preorders right?

I bought it on Black Friday on the PSN store, it was still called the Legion Edition so I told WB i wasn't getting the content that was advertised to be with that game. It said it on my email receipt from Sony as well. Seems like a mistake they made with not changing the name on the store, which isn't my problem. I just wanted the product that it was advertised to be and they gave me no problems at all. They were great.

Bought this on GAME black Friday.
Finally installed it yesterday and played a couple of hours.

Pretty good but quite confusing. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing, so I'm just going around killing Uruks. One captain got to Lv. 8 till I took him down. Not like I need hand holding but not having some idea what's happening is annoying.

I find it hard to get Intel as I keep killing the green uruks accidentally.

Just got the afternoon of so gonna be playing this for a little bit

The interesting part of the game is after you got past the end section, where you'll need to do crazy stuff to get all the achievements (STEAM for the PC). Few of the achievements are totally worth it for a unique experience, like one which requires getting killed by a nameless Uruk and then brand/help him reach his highest rank only to kill him.

I am finding it rather confusing as well. The UI is not good for large screen TVs either, more for PC monitors.

I don't know what the hell Im supose to be doing so like I do in all open worlds games Im doing the most amount of side stuff to get a hang of things.

I just restarted the game after the deluge of winter season releases... the game definitely has it's flaws but oh boy, the combat feels so good. The balance is all over the place but few other recent titles make you feel as badass as this one.

I have no idea what I'm doing in this game lol. At this point I just walk around and fight Orcs. There is like no level design

Agreed, there is no hand holding whatsoever they just throw you out there on Mordor.

I wonder if fighting Uruks is teh only stuff we do here lol.

Keep doing the golden mission markers so it unlocks the full arsenal of abilities and enemies... in particular the ability to shape the uruk hierachy to your whims and get mind-controlled agents in place. Don't get sidetracked by the optional stuff early on because you won't have all the options at your disposal.

Having said that, if you can't enjoy sneaking / fighting / dueling / brutalizing uruks, don't hold out for something spectacularly different. That's the game.

How can you tell when you've got one of those auto executions ready? Sometimes the triangle + circle prompts pops up, sometimes it doesn't, but I can still do them. I don't know how to gauge when I've got one to use.

Got the hang now thought still a little confused by the Rune and upgrade system. The game is really Batman Arkham City Middle Earth edition but I'm ok with that because the gameplay is damn good

I've played about 10 hours and I've died maybe twice, but now I'm at the point where every mission is to kill a war chief. No matter what I do, I end up in some massive fight with a war chief, two captains, 6-8 defenders/berserkers and 15-20 orcs. I'm so surrounded I can't even get my counters off without being attacked, let alone build up a kill streak to try and use a special ability. Am I doing something wrong or am I just not good enough at the combat? Trying to keep straight the different enemy types and how you need to attack them when you're fighting off 10 guys at a time is borderline impossible.

Take out the bodyguards first and try and learn the Warchiefs weakness in advance so you can exploit that. Or you could try doing side missions to level up and unlock some more abilities since most of them make your life easier.

Kill bodyguards and always scout an area where a Warchief hangs out. Often times there are unaffiliated captains hanging that could lead to trouble if an alarm goes off. Also, run away a bit. You're generally given a generous amount of area to engage the warchief with. Head to an area with the flies you can shoot down and it'll scare off most orcs aside from captains. Lead them to some explosive areas.

And the game finally clicked with me combat wise and oh man, game's combat is super satisfying to kill a bunh of Uruks flawlessly.

I did bunch of side sytuff in order to unlock that 20 sec finishers move and oh boy lol, incredible shit, using the Black hand skin is incredible, you are a Saurons servant killing machine ith obscure motives all over mordor!!

Fucking love this game now.

Guys Ive branded a Warchief but he got attacked and killed by the Urks!
What am I missing?

It wasnt a powerstruggle where I need to protect him. He just got attacked by a lot of them

Edit: Bump

This game is simply too hard. Any advice? Even the regular orc enemies kill me in a few hits. I can't even hurt Captains, and it's just so frustrating that I keep dieing.

Same thing happened to me but you just have to get good at the combat meaning you have to time you attacks like in Batman and nto by any circumstance button mash because that will make you lose teh countering window.

Also save save points for that 2500 ability that will make you able to finish anyone in a 20 sec window, after that you will be unstopable.

That is my experience, maybe some others could share tips.

If you see you captains or 3 at the same time better run son, lol.

Just finished the game and here are my immediate thoughts.

I was not expecting this to be good. I was expecting a mediocre experience with some interesting tie ins with the LOTR franchise. That is why I found myself quite happily supervised by how much I enjoyed the game.

The gameplay feels fun. The combat is solid and while it does eventually turn into the usual quicktime scrum that Batman and AC have, I still enjoyed it. Different enemy types mean you have to approach combat differently each time, change strategy as new opponents enter the fray. My first real panic moment was when I was fighting a capital on a bridge in the first area. I had just wiped out the grunts, when suddenly seven captains appeared from nowhere. I was overwhelmed and ended up having to fight a running retreat as up to seventy enemies appeared. I won that battle. I killed every captain and it felt really good!

The game has a huge wealth of content. I have invested 40 hours into this and still have't finished all the content. Mores the pity the story feels too short.

My only con's about this game are the following:

1. The story feels too short and dull. At times I really thought the story had a chance to really expand on the setting and offer a few twists.

2. The Main character is boring. He has about as much emotional complexity as a moist paper towel. I think if they had lengthened the story they could have built him up a bit more.

3. The boss fights. The first one is the best in the game. The others while interesting, feel short and rely too much on quicktime events.

If you are in combat around your branded guys, they will usually automatically join in to help out. Maybe that happened?

This game is simply too hard. Any advice? Even the regular orc enemies kill me in a few hits. I can't even hurt Captains, and it's just so frustrating that I keep dieing.

Do your homework. Know what a given captain's weaknesses are before you go after them. Many of them (particularly in the early game) are vulnerable to some type of attack... it will kill them instantly. That might be a bow shot to the head, or a stealth kill, or a combat execution move, or a beast attack, or grappling. Maybe he's afraid of something and will just run away (vulnerably) when he sees it. Get intel on the captain first, so you know what to do.

If just basic combat is too hard for you, find a couple small groups and practice. Get the timing down. If you are playing on PC and have poor framerate, turn down your settings because bad framerate makes it harder to time your counters. Like Raptor said, the combat is going to punish you for button mashing. Be ready to counter when you see that prompt. Press the attack button roughly as you connect with your last attack to do extra damage (rather than just mashing attack repeatedly). Ideally, in most combat situations you should be getting your combat meter to flash red and your sword to glow so you can use one of the chord attacks (they are skill unlocks, so you might not have any yet).

This game is one where there are a lot of opportunities if you are paying attention. Use your wraith vision to find captains before they find you. Use your wraith vision to find environmental combat opportunities that you can shoot with your bow (some require a skill upgrade). Use your stealth capabilities. Use the beasts. If some particular approach fails you, try something new.

Game became hard as fuck for me with an Elite Warchief the handsome I think it was its name, for captains with him unvulnerables to stuff.

That fight was epic as hell though since I as running out for herbs and they folloewd me the entire mordor I think lol, we end up on a very different place, I still killed teh bastar but it took like half an hour.

Is this game epic as hell or what?

:D

Have they said if Talion's story will be finished in DLC or in another game?

He's fairly likable but I'd rather they went to a different timeline.

Still loving this game. I'm probably 20-25 hours in and have been doing a lot of side quests while beefing myself up for the first Warchief missions.

At first I was having a hard time -- getting my ass handed to me when fighting more than 4-5 uruk's at once. But I haven't died in quite a while now and can more or less take on whatever they throw at me. More than one or two captains at once can be a problem, especially if you don't know their weaknesses yet. But I don't have much fear of venturing into strongholds or taking on hordes of uruks at once.

There's that one side mission where you have to
kill 50 uruks in the arena at one go
; once I completed that I felt like I could take just about anything the game threw at me. I wouldn't say it's easy or not challenging, but once you get a certain skill set you can handle most encounters without fearing for your life. Something else that helped was that
I stocked up on runes that restore life from kills
.

That said, I'm still careful about how and when I encounter captains. I don't like being surprised by a guy who I have no intel on!

Oh man, Ive should have known this earlier :( I will do it so I can always have full life bar because I struggle with warchiefs and his 4 captains.

Right. There's a button you can press ('Y' on XB1) when viewing your weapon that gives you a stats summary. There you can see all the bonuses together, including the ones that stack.

This game is fantastic fun and looks gorgeous on PC with a decent rig. Not big into the LOTR lore but I'm glad it didn't stop me from picking this up.

ha! I spawned a giant group of cargs to just destroy a stronghold. At the end I had like 12 just demolish everything. Everytime an ork spawned one of the cargs would be on it and kill it in an instant.

Ugh, I now have this one Captain that wont fucking die. He's level 20 now and immune to basically everything. Dude is like the fucking terminator or Micheal Myers, he just appears out of nowhere.

Finally got around to trying the Trial of Defiance... woha, hello difficulty.

It's doable but challenging, perfect for those who feel they've outgeared and outsmarted the regular game. I'd like to see someone finish this by mashing their head on the dodge button.

One feature I pray for is an instant wipe of all the runes left on the map. In my save, the map is absolutely cluttered with blues and whites I can't be bothered to pick up because my inventory is full and nothing below epic is worth the effort.

I don't like that everywhere I go is hostile, well yeah is Mordor I know but some downtime to do side stuff at my pace with worrying I would be attacked instantly at sight would be neat.

So still no word on what the 2.89 gigs download was for?

Maybe it's the new DLC which sucks as I haven't bought that and I don't know when I will.

Not like the PS4(launch HDD here) has plenty spare room it. Just started deleting games for new ones the other day.

I want my 3gigs back ;-(
