Well well... Passive mode actually works, but i'm sorry for the idiot in the attack heli who followed me around for 10 minutes and wouldn't stop blasting missiles at my car. I had to send him a message for him to "get it". Lol

I had a guy doing that and I had fun dodging his missiles (I was in my rebel or my blista so wasn't too worried if he did blow up my vehicle). Yeah, I was in passive but I wasn't sure if blowing the car up would still blow my car up. And I was bored so I was being amused by it and seeing how long I could go before he actually hit me. I think I decided that the car is safe when I'm in it cause the last one he threw at me seemed like it should have hit but I was fine. And he lost interest right after that (but he at least apparently got that it wasn't going to work or was just happy to actually have hit me even if the game didn't allow it to do anything).

That's bananas, I had no idea. How new is this? I would have assuemd we would have seen much more commotion about it :\

I don't think it's common at all yet on PS4/XB1. R* hot fixes server side stuff more often than we see client side patches so I think some of this stuff gets quashed before it escapes much beyond the usual forums.

The rule of thumb for me is "is there a tutorial on Youtube?". If there is, and the glitch in some way gives a player an advantage or shortcut, usually you'll find that glitch is super common.

By the very nature of an in-game glitch you need no special tools or knowledge and GTA is such a huge game that there are just inherently more folk systematically trying every interaction and combination of interactions to try and find holes.

All that said, next gen so far seems way cleaner than last gen was so maybe it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.

And for the new page:

I wonder if we can go some way to helping this though for Playstation users by using this thread and a new PSN account. If we all add that account we'll all be able to see friends of friends from the new account and it will be easier to identify whether invites are coming from randoms or GAF'ers. We could use this friends of friends list to either add each other, check who is online or simply cross reference names.

To that end I have set up a PSN account called GTAGAF (all uppercase).

igZhpfKeJDvWP.gif

Go ahead and send friend requests and I will add people within a few hours in most cases. Please include something along the lines of "I AM GAF-tastic" (or the much simpler, "GAF") in your request.

Sound like a plan GAF?

I'm also happy to use this account as a grinding account if anyone needs race wins etc. I will need to get through the tutorial with it first though!

I will add GTAGAF when I get home. I'm doing some trophy grinding as well as races for car unlocks.

If anyone else is interested in doing GTA online trophy boosting, feel free to add me PSN: Akuma_818

did they nerf the rp? it feels like it takes muuuuuch longer to level up now. i'm just hoping to get to 120 so i can unlock everything level related, but now it's such a chore.

same added need all those unlocks and that sit in a friend's car for 5 minute trophy

psn = nazaire73

I really need to win a rally race to unlock those other metal paint jobs.

this too add me

So, you guys think we'll get some DLC/heists before the year is over?

rumored for 23rd? just stupid chatter online

So I added GTAGAF as a friend and as an aside I noticed it by default added a message putting my real name in it (if I had just sent the request on default without first checking any default message it put on it would have automatically done it and there would be nothing I could do to reverse it). WTF is this obesssion with companies wanting me to expose my real name? If I want to give out my damned name, I'll do it myself. Don't try to default me into it (yes, that really pissed me off at Sony for that little thing).

Trash talk (level 81) is probably now the most efficient time:payout ratio (if you have a Buzzard) due to the level multiplier on mission payouts.

<snip>

If you fancy a heli-centric mission, you can use any heli (e.g. the Merryweather chopper pickup) to pretty quickly and easily complete "Cleaning the Cat House" for Martin (level 45). !

Question, how do I get these to either appear on my map or on the Rockstar mission list (I know with Rooftop rumble I have to always go to rockstar missions to see it). I can't seem to find either on either the map or on online>jobs>missions to start them. I already got the buzzard so I'd love a quick way to make money.

I want them to have double RP weekends or something

I was doing so well grinding up to level 60 then hit a brick wall on 70 when the world record RP stuff stopped working

I hope I don't miss out on the fun. I've had the game since launch on PS4 and I haven't touched the online because I've just been busy playing the campaign. I hope that by the time I'm done there are still people playing. Maybe I should take a break from the campaign and try out the online...

Are you kidding? This is GTA, there will be full lobbies for years to come. Don't worry about it.

Some are claiming that there are new heist related parameters appearing in tunables.json as well as references to a possible cops n crooks mode.

You need to have completed them for them to appear on the list so they need to have appeared as a a contact text first. Next time I'm on and I see you I'll invite you.

I need to level up. I'm only level 54 :')

Ew. :)

I want them to have double RP weekends or something

They had a few over the last year though they were often tied to specific play lists or event types. I expect they will again.

Would that actually work cause I've been invited and done rooftop rumble several times and I think I still had to host it or something for it to add on to the list?

I know Martin for one of those missions you gave me (but he refuses to give me it, I've even tried to do some of the other missions he gave me) but who does Trash Talk?

I am currently grinding a Potshot playlist rp and money isn't bad but it's just so quick and low loading times too.

RR would be better but I don't find it easy to solo.

I actually have a method for RR on solo that works wonders (only in third person mode, first person mode I have to be a lot more flexible but I think I discovered sniper rifle helps a lot in first person mode... I think I'm forming a plan that works in first person mode ;) ).

In fact, I prefer doing it solo now so I don't have to worry about random troll just trying to mess me up (cause some people do that, they'll run you over with the car rather than help). Also, I don't invite friends cause it seems most people on here want to do something different rather than grind so I figure I won't bother them with me trying to grind money (I don't do it over and over though, just every so often. I couldn't do it back to back cause it would get boring quick that way).

Hey, if I'm on when you are on, ask me to invite you to rooftop rumble, I'll show you what I do (it takes a little practice but I suck so you may not need to practice it as much).

It involves first using my car as a barrier to hit the first few people, then moving to another spot to kill a few more, then moving to another spot to get the last few (all using cover).

The most questionable part is trying to hit the guy int he car before he gets to the next area (if I turned off the thing where you have to hit the fire button to actually fire I'd probably find it easier but so far haven't failed yet though got close and got really frustrated freaking out he'd get to the area before I hit him).

Oh, and auto aim for me (not used to using full control yet so not so surefire under that. Though I am starting to play more under that and I do think it is more fun. But for grinding money all my methods have used auto aim so not so sure of using not auto aim for a surefire win).

Also, if you don't mind auto aim and third person and taking a little time, I have a surefire way of winning in the Boneyard survival by yourself (once again I actually prefer by myself because other people can mess me up, especially if they kick me out of the spot I need to do it and suck worse than me and still die. But Boneyard has a very defensible spot for keeping alive by yourself. Granted sometimes I die but usually it's cause I mess up rather than it was just too hard). But, it is a survival so it's not a quick way of making money (I think people have done the math and it's not as productive per time you spend on it). But if you ever try it, the spot behind the trailer. Just hide there under cover, keep an eye on the guys coming from both sides on the map (They'll usually approach you from one side but the other side will get a few and you have to watch it cause there's one area that if they get to can really mess you up if you allow them to get to that spot, so you can't keep a blind eye to it). Oh, and you can hide in the middle and regain health if you get hit too much (I usually use this for the helis). Oh, and leave helis for last, kill all the guys first and then go after the helicopters (ignore them enitrely until the running people are dead). You can hide and re heal and the helis won't reach you (they may get a shot or two in if you are there but I've never actually been killed by them that way). Just make sure you don't leave it to one shot will kill ya ;). If the helis refuse to get to a spot you can hit them from the trailer, you can run out and try to hit them, just stay close and run back when they start hitting (and make sure you don't let them get you so red one hit will kill you cause sometimes they will hit you even behind the trailer). Sometimes just even doing that will get them to move (sometimes they like hanging in a certain area which is a problem cause it can't be reached if you are behind the trailer).

What happens if your car gets blown up? Do you lose it forever? I have insurance on all of my vehicles, does that mean they're safe no matter where I leave them or no matter what happens to them?

Insurance means if your car is destroyed, you pay a charge (or whoever destroyed the car has it deducted from them) and the car respawns at a certain garage when you call Mors Mutual Insurance. If the car isn't insured then it'll be lost.

Just checking in, have they fixed some of the connectivity issues with online in this game? Like the game freezing coming out of a match and taking minutes to join a session? (PS4)

Technically if some one else blows it up they pay but if they have no money you still pay (which is bs if you ask me and rockstar changed that but then I heard for whatever reason they went back to this bs mechanic).

But my blista costs me 200 to replace and my rebel is a whole 20 bux to replace. My Zentorno on the other hand? 10k which is why I don't in general bring it out in public.

Yeah if you have insurance they'll always be yours. You'll just have to call Mors to get it back (if somebody blows it up).

You can leave it anywhere also. Best to make it so strangers can only get in your passenger seat, or at all.

Ted and ala you other PS4 folks, you on tonight?
I reallllllly want to be on tonight. I'm going to be trying, I haven't been on a Friday night in a while. I'm in Eastern Time Zone, too btw.

I wasn't having problems, but yesterday I tried playing with another Gaffer and it was taking a minute or two longer to load jobs, lobbies, etc. When I go to crew only session, then bounce to open lobby, the wait is usually pretty short for me.

Just a tip in case anyone didn't know or forgot (like I did) - you can summon your personal vehicle by holding the touch-pad down and selecting 'Request personal vehicle'. It's much faster than waiting for that lazy ass mechanic to deliver it to you.

RR would be better but I don't find it easy to solo.

I was stuck at level 84 for a while and kept hitting a wall when it came to earning XP (usually due to nobody playing, just free roaming).

I got a tip from someone else, not sure if it has been patched out yet but worth checking.

Go to Host Job -> Race -> Rockstar created -> Double Parking. Set up a race for yourself (close matchmaking, if anyone joins - kick them). Set it for 30 laps or so and on your first lap, try and set it for around 1:40. This race has a flaw whereby the World Record is always empty, so once you set the world record, try and beat it by a second every lap and after the 30 laps you will have gone up around 4 levels or so. You can keep doing it, seems to be the quickest way to level up.

I went from 84 to 100 in about 3 hours, much better than having to play for days on end to get there. It was giving me around 4000 xp per lap. My brother was also doing it though, level 30 and it was only giving him 700 or so. Not sure why that was, maybe relative to levelling up?

Hope that is easily explained, if not message me back and I will explain further.

I don't get this mentality. Painstakingly grinding for three hours to rank up approximately 16 levels is better than actually playing the game you paid for? Sure, it will take a lot longer, but at least you'll be having fun.

Oh well, each to their own, I guess.

I had already played about 90 hours or so, having fun with the game I paid for. What isn't fun however, is the constant waiting and loading of games to start, in addition to being randomly kicked from games that have started/halfway through due to the game still being badly broken. But if you enjoy that then good for you. So yeah, each to their own.

They're both old man Madrazo missions. There's a full list of contact missions sorted by contact and level in the OP FAQ.

But yeah "passing it on" certainly used to work, Jason Frost has definitely "given" me missions this way before.

Worth a shot at least.

It's OK but that said GTA has never been and probably never will be the quickest game to load. Even SP. It's a complex world I guess.

I remember playing the GTA IV episodes mixed in chronologically with the main story and that was painful!

Hoping to see and play with some of you guys soon!

Yea! Yesterday I was in a 29 person room. I have been getting in bigger rooms more frequently lately. It's great fun when I want the mayhem, but half the time I'm doing crew lobbies to avoid the jerkholes that populate the 30 player lobbies!

So I recently figured out how to create private matches. Though after some missions it tries to kick my friend back to a public game. Is there a way to set it so that you only join friends games or at the very least, your own private game? Joining a public game takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes, it's terrible.

Before you blame matchmaking which platform are you on and do you know your console's NAT level? Joining a 30 player p2p mesh is pretty demanding of your network connection and you aint joining populated sessions behind moderate or strict NAT, or if you experience regular packet loss or even have a router with crappy UDP handling (hey Virgin Media Superhub, what's up?)

Basically it reduces the effects of things like turbulence, take off, landing etc for flight with high skill level. For driving it just gives you more control. Stamina and shooting just basically increase your abilities with those areas.

The highest I've been in was 28 players. I regularly get put into 20+ lobbies.

Ted and I are tearing shit up, come on and join the fun! I did the "join crew members" from the pause screen and it put me right in there.
Says it's private when I go to join, need an invite.

Edit: Also is it my connection or rockstar? While I'm in free roam everyone but me will leave at the same time. So I'm still online it's just everyone leaves the room.
