Who honestly thought Momochi was going to win? I don't think I seen person saying he would. Honestly I would've and still would put him near the end to win it all. Coming to U.S majors and getting far and never really winning it all, something was overdue for him. Lots of upsets. Snake Eyez being a heavy favorite for the U.S guys. PR being the least likely to get the furthest out of the U.S guys.

One thing I got right. Daigo wasn't going to win. I must be the only person on earth who thinks regular Ryu is better than Evil Ryu. I think having the super and certain little aspects over Evil Ryu makes him better.

I've been a fan of Momochi since his Cody days but I honestly didn't think he would even make it to GF.

I had my bets on Snake Eyez winning it all and knew Daigo was most likely going to get taken out because he has done really poorly in 2/3 formats in recent times. I was also not surprised at all Pr Rog took out Daigo. He has taken quite a few games from daigo in the past and since this was 2/3...

But yeah many, many upsets this tourney.

Anybody noticed Daigo smiling after his defeat by Rog? That's the mark of a true champion who wants to improve.

No way SnakeEyez would take home the gold. He's got too many bad match ups, namely Fuudo, Bonchan, and Daigo. Valmaster, Louffy, Ryan Hart, and Momochi's Juri would give him trouble as well.

He lost to Momochi's Ken though, not Juri. I had been hoping to see Juri. :(

You guys think Daigo would go back to RYU? Or even try Ken?

Nope, Ryu did get some decent buffs and Evil Ryu got nerfed in the latest update coming this Monday but it's still not enough for him to switch character. I think Evil Ryu is still a better character overall and gives him the best chance to win.

Daigo doesn't need to go back to Ryu, he need an alt that can fight Sim, lol.

He has one but refuses to use it.

I think it puts things into perspective when I think of Momochi basically winning more money in one tournament than all of the SFIV tournaments this year combined. Momochi did for Choco what Dogura didn't do for his girlfriend. I was happy seeing how happy she was when Momochi won.

Who's his alt?

I honestly hope Daigo goes back to Yun specially after the E.Ryu nerf.

And I agree I was happy for Momochi and Chocoblanka. I had the Japanese restream on in the background just so I could see her reaction to it all.

He's very stubborn on counterpicking now. Seems like he almost feels like switching and counterpicking got him into this mess by not having faith in a main.

This.

I don't know of if it's diago's fighters pride, or just plain stubbornness, but he really needs to have an alt ready for Sim. It's pretty sad to see him continually lose the Sim MU, when he's such a great player.

Yun got nerfed as well, and even worse than Evil Ryu IMO. 50 less health sucks but he can live with it(still the same health as Yun). A couple of Yun's moves got worse which hurts there effectiveness in matches.

As for that restream, I found it kind of strange that none of the dudes ever patted her on the back or tried to cheer her up. They pretty much just ignored her and talked amongst themselves as she was crying uncontrollably. But it was a great thing to see when Momochi kept coming through over and over.

In Japanese culture ("I'm an expert") I don't think physical contact is as normal as Western culture. It's not like they ignored her, but they let her deal with her feeling without forcing her to say anything.

Maybe Daigo will drop the pride now that there's so much money on the line. He may be Hollywood, but not 200,000 or more Hollywood.

that last round come back on ryan hart was the best moment of the tourney IMO.

And speaking of Daigo, he needs (or maybe be willing) to have a counter pick ready for sim. It's such a hard matchup for E/ryu

Given the recent injection of eSports money, I'm actually really excited to watch SF IV in the next coming year.

Shit's going to be so cutthroat now lol

Also, because no one posted, though I don't know if this is actually the pic:

I'm a Ken homer, so I always put any Ken player winning the tournament lol. What's surprising was how Momochi pretty much dismantled everyone he came across though. Ryan Hart was the only one who looked like he had trouble with (dem round ending dp fadc ultras lmao).

Snake Eyez - 2:0
Ryan Hart - 1:2
Bonchan - 2:1
Valmaster - 2:0
Ryan Hart - 2:1
Infiltration - 2:0
Luffy - 2:1
Xian - 3:2, 3:1

Very reminiscent of his South East Majors performance when Ultra first came out. He ran through a hella losers bracket gauntlet full of killers that time too. Really, that walkspeed buff Capcom gave him did absolute did wonders. Ken can finally play footsies on an even level now and not be walking on molasses and mud half the time. So happy to see Momochi finally shine with Ken, dude deserves it.

Dang, them Elena buffs.

EX mallet nerf definitely hurts tho, but best-case, it'll encourage Elena players to space that move a bit better, which they probably should be doing anyway.
They fixed the inputs on her lynx tail too..

Hawk nerfs :(

No Rose nerfs too? Capcom did right.

Also the Deejay buffs weren't.. much. They really needed to just revert all the nerfs back to 2012 and then continue with buffs. Oh Well
I'm an Elena player
I hope that his ex. Jackknife on wakeup is actually useable.

Sako, Gamerbee, and now even Infiltration all playing Elena, if that doesn't convince people that she's cheap then I dunno what will.

I can't tell you how many "BRB dropping Smash/Guilty Gear/Marvel/life for Street Fighter" type posts I saw crop up in the first 10 minutes after that announcement. It's fun to see the energy/excitement back, but damn guys, most of you are pot monsters in the first place.

Besides which, if you have to torture yourself for money there's better ways to do it. Like, dunno, that "JOB |" tag.

On SF5, damn, it looks ass. Animation is janky, but that can be fixed. The worst, worstworstworstworst thing is that movement is still totally molasses-in-winter status. Maybe SFxT grade or something. Today, we are all Sagats.

Only thing that concerns me about SF5 is the general speed and feel of the game, tbh. It doesn't look any faster or slower than SF4 to me at a glance, but that's not really a good thing for me because SF4's mobility and feel is the main thing that keeps me from getting back into that game. Every time I pick it back up for a moment, I walk or dash around and then immediately go flaccid. I respect the game a lot but I just can't get into it when it just doesn't feel satisfying at a basic level. New mechanics look interesting though.

EDIT: ^ Oh geez.

^ this

USF4 Patch: Akuma got a solid footsie button again. Ryu got stuff that actually advances his gameplan instead of random damage somewhere. Lol Ken nerfs.

The Dekappa buff list is disgusting. The character is already cancerous, and they buff her? >_<

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
But anyway, it's an honest mistake if they're paper one didn't match the website. Sure, they should have realized it but it's not as big of a deal as say purposefully moving folks.
Why?

Serious question. What's the effective difference between a TO who floats matches and a TO who doesn't know how to seed a loser's bracket? Someone gets the short end of the stick either way.

It's not cool to write it off as an "honest mistake" because whoever is in charge of handling the bracket for an extremely important 16-player tournament should be more on the ball than that (they're not running some massive EVO-sized event), and it's kind of silly for them to crack down on other tournaments for fucking up brackets when they can't even acknowledge their own mistake.

you forgot 3) byes after pools (wtf?)
It's not ideal, but there's a practical reason for that. Since EVO is on such a tight schedule, they fill every pool to 16 or at least close to 16 players so that they have fewer pools to run. This pushes the byes to the middle of the bracket instead of the beginning.
