Lords of the Fallen |OT| We don't praise the sun around here

Game crashed on me very frequently in the stage where you get to the 2nd boss and fight him. Game was so frustrating that I uninstalled it and emailed the Devs.. but I couldn't sleep that night because that 2nd boss was kicking my ass too much. LOL! Went back and reinstalled the game and lucked up beating it and now the 3rd boss area is much more stable.

I hope the devs really get the bugs ironed out. The game really is a pleasure to look at and they are doing a ton of things graphically.

Huh? I killed the last boss in one try... and I was using a "rogue", supposedly the hard mode.

Not saying the boss was too hard but it was just a massive anti-climax. All the gear I had used before the final boss were useless, my shield was useless, my brawler spells were useless except Rage. Every phase was based on memorizing and doing the same things at the exact order once you got it down through trial and error.

Maybe the problem is that the other bosses were A LOT easier and it actually felt like I wasn't just fighting a very simply scripted boss since I could kill them before I had memorized the whole fight and got down every possible pattern the boss does. I think the final boss also had no RNG whatsoever so it just became dull after a couple of attempts.

Give him a try on NG+ with your rogue.. Don't lose your sanity while you're at it :)

I sorta liked this game being a big ARPG fan but it lacks the depth of a Souls Game, the size and grandeur of Dragon's Dogma and the detailed story of an Elder Scrolls.
It just feels very barebones in every department.

I tried the game for 30 minutes or so yesterday, using the warrior item preset.

I liked the graphics a lot and the tactical combat has obvious similarities to Dark Souls (a good thing), but ... Moving around felt quite clunky, especially when fighting against the first boss. Do you have to use the rogue items to get the Dark Souls dodge:y moveset? Or is the combat generally slower than Dark Souls, irrespective of what character you choose?

These are pretty much my thoughts after 30 minutes, haha.

It has a very similar weight mechanic to the Souls games. With stats at the start of the game, the rogue gear gives you full speed, the cleric gear gives you half speed, and the warrior gear gives you the slowest speed. Naturally as you progress through the game you can put points in to increase how much you weight you can bear. Where I got to, half way throughish I could wear heavy armour and still have the medium roll.

Thanks, I think I will try to restart with the rogue gear, hoping to add some substantial armor later after investing in the appropriate stats.

Just get rid of your armor; your movement and running speed is great that way. I wouldn't recommend relying on rolling because enemies have instant startup, large body hitboxes and a lot of active frames--it is the case with DkS2's as well but more severe. Instead of rolling, try running in and out of an enemy's range of attacks; it worked well against the first boss.

I just completed the 2nd boss fight, it seems rolling is pointless either I am getting hit or they are they are in a defense state before I recover. I am also seeing some glitches especially with the audio. Another thing that's annoying is my strikes are sometimes not registering, this can be frustrating against boss fights, they are already hard to hit as is. With all the negativity in my post I am still enjoying the game so far had to get use to the dark souls controls...been playing a lot of fps lately.

Never known people found rolling useless, I use it all the time, especially the roll lunge, against most bosses I found the most effective strategy to be to roll under their swings to get behind and hit with with one or two light attack then roll back out. I have started blocking more now than I used to, but I find it most effective to combine them for different situations. I use medium armour and shield/axe or hammer by the way.

Actually the second boss might be the only one where I found it easier to just circle strafe instead of roll, but then again I found that boss the easiest/most predictable in the game.

I am still trying to balance the weight to agility ratio so that might be my biggest enemy.

Got to the 3rd boss and that fight was bad-ass!

I'm now in a new domain and loving the game even more now. I am liking the enemies as I just want to duel monsters instead of shredding them like in DS2. DS2 had less humanized characters that I anticipated. That's why I loved the original DS so much in the beginning. They throw a bunch of skeletons and black knights your way. As far as agility is concerned, I've put a lot of points into Stamina and can now move pretty quickly with no shield and plate armor. I carry my sword 2H anyway so I block with it.

I have this on the way, just curious, what's the difficulty like for this?? is it as hard as the souls games??

NG is pretty easy though the first few bosses might give you some trouble as you're still a bit weak and learning the ropes. Game takes a somewhat diferent approach than Souls as the roll is not that usefull. Better to just hang back and wait for openings.

NG+ is easy as well cos you can kick ass with all your OP gear. Some serious spikes in dificulty near the later parts of the game though. Last boss is a bit of an SOB now.

NG++ however is just damn annoying as every enemy seems to have his health multiplied by 10 and bosses take forever the kill. The final boss is a serious challenge now !

That's actually pretty cool, I'm waiting on my copy but this sound like I'll have a fun time with it!! Thanks for the reply!!

Just got this for the xbox one. I've never played a game like this, looked different so I figured id give it a shot for $20 (at local mom and pops store) it's pretty fun so far. I had a lot of difficulty with the first warden. But it was a fun battle. So far Im definitely into it.

Gah, trying to get the legendary bonus of the final boss is frustrating D:
I manage to not get any zombies killed with his fire trail, a lot of times even without any damage on them but even still, I can't seem to get the challenger trinket... I wonder if it's bugged :(

Bought this earlier today. Played for about an hour so and found it a lot better than I was expecting, especially once I swapped a few pieces of armor around and increased the rolling speed.

Just beat this on Steam, played for about 15 hours. Pretty good! I saw that there is DLC coming...do we know how it'll be accessed yet? Wondering if I'll need to play part of the game in NG+ to get into it.

Been playing it since tuesday on XB1....

I'm enjoying it but I'm having my ass kicked by those shielded enemies after the second boss. I cant get behind them to manage a hit...

A little question. I remember that in the beggining of the game I had three health potions and now I only have two.. what did I do to decrease the number of potions I'm allowed to have? And how to increase this?
there's also these health shards that says to temporarily increase the health generation... i ate two and nothing happened. What does it do?
And I also entered a portal and there were a lot of enemies in a foggy place. I died there and have no intentions of going back... should I?
Any leveling tips? I am warrior so I am rotating strength, vitality and agi... 1 strength 1 vita 1 strength 1 agi and so on.

You probably gave the potion to that priest (the one you cut his arm). Some NPCs ask you for medicine (= ask you to get a potion). You can get more potions looting chest on some areas (like the foggy area you said).

Those portal areas are optional...for challenges and loot. For leveling, I personally just alternated between strength and endurance the whole time. Since weapon swinging can be incredibly slow, I wanted each hit to count. (Also played a warrior)

As far as the potions go, in addition to what Ferr said about giving one away, sometimes they don't refill all the way until you die (at least on PC). So if you have 10, and you use 5 of them, sometimes going to a checkpoint will only refill you up to 7 or so. You won't get your full 10 back until you die.

As this only sometimes happens, I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what.

oh, yeah, thats intentional. In a checkpoint you'll see small crystals floating around the big one, thats the nº of potions recovered after hitting the checkpoint. It increases with time though, so the longer has passed until you used that checkpoint, the more potions you'll be able to refill.
They have a cap too, I think. Meaning that some checkpoints will only refill a max. number of potions.

Oh thanks! I never picked up on that; kind of an interesting mechanic.

Don't worry, you get plenty more empty bottles later. In this case, saving his life will reward you later.

Just started playing this last night after buying on Steam's Fall sale. I'm in the same boat.

So far, it's exactly what I wanted - a slightly more forgiving Dark Souls.

I gave a potion to the monk as well and rolling with only two potions is pretty damn hard, but again, it's slightly more forgiving than Dark Souls.

I really love the armor sets and weapons. Looks gorgeous.

How should I spec if I want to roll with a staff? I am a Str, Vit, End Warrior right now, but that doesn't scale with staffs, and getting those multi-hit combos with the staff was the most satisfying combat in the game so far.

After the
Spider Boss (Inquisitor?)
there were these two NPCs who were lost... they were hurt and asked me for another potion.

I killed them.

No one is taking my potions!!!!

best staff in the game scales with AGI, so I would roll with that.

Thinking about buying it for XB1 in todays sale. Its 35 dollars and the game sounds pretty fun.
Heard its really buggy though. Was that fixed?

Edit:
Nevermind. It seems a patch never arrived to console versions. I'll skip this game then.

They've been sayin on twitter that the console patch is coming soon......for weeks now. I stopped playing halfway through in anticipation of this patch, and now I'm wishing I had just finished it back then...

The second boss is really buggy; he freezes and the animations of his attacks don't appear. I simply alt+F4 when that happened; he had a pixel left in his HP bar to make things worse. It happened more than three times in the span of two fights. That aside, it seems that the clone doesn't affect the second boss, and it works AGAINST you by destroying the framerate.

Seriously, this is a waste of time. Not only you have to lower your graphics settings for a boss fight (as some idiot thought that a large arena with badly optimized LOD is a good idea for a boss fight), but you have to repeat over and over because of glitches and crashes. And above all of that, the boss was easy and exploitable; I easily abused his stupid A.I and attack patterns and got him to a pixel of HP without more than a hit.

I will not play it until there is a patch that addresses the glitches, and there seems to be very limited options for builds and (effective) playstyles, so I don't feel like playing the game anytime soon.

Hopefully, there will be an expansion that adds OPTIMIZED maps, better enemy design and more stats/build options. I will support the game if there is going to be a sequel that takes feedback into consideration.

LODs of the Fallen.

Thanks! I better wait then... This generation stole enough from me already with those broken games. If this one get patched though, then I may give it a try, cause it seems good.

I'm thinking of picking this up sometime around or after Christmas for PS4. Is it worth it? I've never really gotten into Dark Souls so I won't be able to compare. I've played DS but not enough to form a real opinion on it. Does the LotF have replayability?

Same.

Is this game worth it? Its priced at 40 bucks at gamestop with a 20 buck traded in, so essentially 20 bucks. Is that worth the price? Please someone.

I believe I'm up to the final boss, I'm just running around trying to clear up as many trophies as possible first.

I've only just realised that I won't be able to respec as the item you use for that I've used to unlock a trophy (Smash the statue)... doh. Do you get another one on your NG+ run?

What weapons to people recommend? I'm still using the Warrior sword that dropped from the statue smashing very early in the game. Everything else seems way too slow and not worth the slight damage upgrade compared to the Warrior.
