Weird hat is only in one variation it seems, other two he has his regular hat.
His variations are, tempest, hat trick, buzz saw.

Tempest gives him more spin attacks, and lets him use his hat like a shield that flys around him.
Buzz Saw gives him more hat throw attacks.
Hat Trick lets him control his hat throws, throw them and recall it at any point, and can use it to extend combos.

Sounds pretty badass. I can't wait to see his gameplay trailer.

Just saw a scan from the magazine that shows a new stage but it was taken down before I could save it. The stage looks like a military complex with loads of antennas and sattelite dishes. There's also a large building that reads B7. There are jeeps and armed soldiers carrying guns. The stage is at night and looks to be in an Area 57 type location or some type of quarry but there's no way of knowing. My guess is Special Forces location. Also tons of written info but I'm not sure if I should copy it. Sorry I can't post pics but it looks really cool.

I like it! Kinda weird about how old he is, though;
I assumed that if he was resurrected, he'd look the same as he would as he died. Maybe he got brought back during the time gap?
I feel it makes him look a lot tougher and more ragged.

Also, that scan I found says Scorpion's found a "new" Sub-Zero to fight.
Maybe that "MKX Sub-Zero is a reincarnated Shao Khan" might just be canon after all!

The magazine also confirmed that Sub-Zero is a new Sub-Zero, not Bi-Han or Kuai Lang.

One of the variations allows Kung Lao to throw his hat and call it back at any time.

Its going to be interesting to see how MKX continues the story with the events from MK9.

It is easy to see that the game overall is going to be more mature/serious story wise judging by the Art Direction taken compared to MK9. Looking at previous characters and their new models/art.

Very excited to play through the Story... alot can happen in 20-25+ years worth of story.

From the way they worded it, it sounds a lot more like an assumption than any confirmation.

Well the elder subzero is dead (killed by scorpion) and the younger subzero was turned into a cyborg in MK9 story instead of this happening to Smoke.

I doubt Subzero is going to be turned back into a human so the new subzero is most likely well.. NEW! I can see why the magazine would assume this, its the answer a lot of people would probably lean towards.

There's been some stuff lately that suggests it's going to turn out be the older one, as a couple of the intros between him and Quan Chi have the latter talking about how he has SZ's brother's soul. And remember that the elder one revived as Noob Saibot and thrown into the Soulnado, and hasn't been seen since. (and the last guy to get thrown into a Soulnado, Scorpion came back as the Elder Gods' champion...)

Old subzero/noob got thrown into a soulnado, I figure anything can happen from that.

Was it confirmed MKX is a direct sequel (plot-wise) to MK9? Edit: Never mind, just read MKX story is 25 years after MK9's.

SOULADO!!?!?!? Didn't even know that was a thing. Definitely opens up a lot of possibilities there then. Interesting..Interesting...

I would imagine Scorpion just listened to MegaDeth's Tornado of souls over and over while inside there :)

Yep, Kenshi is definitely going to be in this one.
I'm surprised to see Kung Lao in this game, in fact, I'm surprised to see that most of the returning characters are characters from MK9. I was expecting to see Fujin, Reiko, or Tanya by now rather than Goro, Kung Lao, Raiden, and possibly Jax.

When it comes to Kung Lao, his look leaves a lot to be desired. Although his aesthetics are not the best in this game, he was always a fun character to use especially in MK9, so I'm happy to see his return.

I have always like Kung Lao more than Liu Kang so I'm happy for this. His fatalities have always been great too.
