You know what, fuck Nintendo. What a shit run company. Have to wait all this extra time and not even get the regular? Fuck off.
I'd be surprised if they don't release it eventually, but the sales data probably tells them that only a very small niche would have been interested in the smaller model.
Such a shame that the nXL doesn't have faceplates.
Reggie is president of NoA, idolised to no end for seemingly no reason then makes decisions like this and gets away with it?
Reggie was instrumental in this decision and everyone knows it. I don't really get the massive amount of respect he commands
You guys ever thought rhat Nintendo marketing realized that the regular 3DS don't sell as much compared to the XL sizes?? America loves "BIG" so Nintendo catered to the majority. Can't blame them for selling the most popular SKU.
Sorry, I'm not giving their marketing numbers the benefit of the doubt after all these horrible decisions dating back to how long it took to get the wii RPG over hereYou guys ever thought rhat Nintendo marketing realized that the regular 3DS don't sell as much compared to the XL sizes?? WUT. Oh, god. Fuck NOA.
Well I'll tell you what makes me mad about the no AC adapter thing. When I moved last year, I lost my 3DS adapter in the move. Went to Gamestop and the the only one they had was $20 ones, which I would not buy simply on principal. The big box retailers didn't even have them, I ended up getting one for $7 at a local game store, but the point is they're not always easy to find. Around me anyway. Which didn't even make any sense to me.
Was he? Dude is just a figurehead as far as I'm concerned. He's not the guy that said "You know what? NA doesn't need an XL." It was probably a business decision that most of NA already buys the XL and the costs they'd save from only having one NA model outweigh the loss in sales from not selling the n3DS. Half the people here reacting "I'll never buy one" will be changing their tune eventually.
the fact that they're selling an electronic device without a power adapter is just confounding. I mean, honestly, how many people are going to purchase the new 3DS XL, go home, unbox it, only to find out there is no power adapter?
it's funny for all the ways that nintendo has screwed up, not releasing a console with faceplate and colored buttons that is not likely to sell in the non-niche market is the last straw for some people

no big loss
bigger screens trump all
I am trying to understand why anyone would want a regular 3DS. Please, help me.
I have an XL. Time has revealed that it is too heavy, and the nature of it being too top heavy, the most uncomfortable combination. I never want to play it too much because it is laborious, and that is the opposite of what a handheld should be. The screen size is also unnecessary, and often more easily reveals dithering and stretches out some fonts. Furthermore it is just a bit too big to be carrying in my jacket, so I only have it in my bag. The smaller size would open up options.I am trying to understand why anyone would want a regular 3DS. You can't fit that shit in your pocket and it doesn't have faceplates

Not likely to sell in non-niche market = available in every other territory globally?
The GAF market is very small and weird, you see. Nintendo is not considering them and judging from the hilarious invective around here, I can't say I blame them.

Wait..... what?
