New order 1886 pre-order trailer (new footage)

I hate to be a broken recorder, but really? Nothing about the Half Breeds gameplay? Arguably the most interesting aspect of the game besides the unique weapons?

Awful awful trailer. What are we, a bunch of housewives having to be told by other housewives that brand x washes extra clean?

"I've never been to London but I can imagine it looking like this" Jesus.

Worst trailer I haven't already expunged from my memory, yet. :p Mind you I'm not saying anything about the game, just the trailer. The trailer is pure awful.

- Obnoxious, never ending "fan testimonial" that sounds like a broken record "the graphics, the graphics, the weapons, the graphics".
- The structureless, generic "epic" music that combined with the fact that the sound effects are mixed right out makes it impossible to focus on anything.
- The schizophrenic, half-assed cutting of the footage together. Has no sense of structure or pacing to keep me engaged.
- The fact they had the balls to call it a fucking "Pre-Order Trailer". Blergh!

Again, no comment on the actual game but this trailer just reeks of marketing department driven cynicism that I just can't appreciate.

and the bits where they said 'the gameplay'?

They caught people coming out of a booth after 30 minutes with the game (at Playstation Experience) they were a little excited - and I bet some of them said stupid shit on purpose to get on the box, I know I would! 'I've never been to London, but I bet it looks like this!' You're looking for things wrong and seeing nothing else, I don't think this game isn't for you.

Anyway, I'm done here. I can see where this is going and it's about to get annoying.

900@20 fps witn corridors vs 1080@40 fps open world with verticality and Environmental Interaction......LOL

Resolution and framerate are numbers purely dependent on the platform the game runs on, and only useful when trying to fuel a console war. Ryse is objectively way more advanced in terms of techniques used. But hey doesn't really matter now that RAD is about to shame everyone.

And you're leading by example against this console war by writing "RAD is about to shame everyone"?

People have opinions on things and reading what you wrote there doesn't seem very different from the usual shit you can read everywhere else.

Resolution is a metric for IQ and frame rate impact with overall experience, and no Ryse in not more advanced in terms of techniques used.

Infamous SS is an impressive piece of code.... :)

Wish that Tesla/lightning w/e gun had more of an impact on people. Like maybe have a giant spark where it hits and then have the body ragdoll several feet away. Looks weak to be honest.

Still hype for the game though, decent trailer, can't wait to play!

RAD isn't even a first party developer...The Order actually just looks better than any game shown on either console at the moment (and PC minus crazy downsampled shots). I'm not sure how that's got anything to do with console wars unless you're reading a little too much into it.

It definitely impacts the user experience but graphics tech doesn't really have much to do with "experience". The aim should be to compare objectively the underlying tech without letting variables outside of the devs control (like platform hardware) to interfere. And I'm not saying Infamous SS looks bad or anything, but outside of the particle system the rest of the rendering tech is pretty par for the course.

It looks incredible, but minor gripe. The lightening effect sticks out like a sore thumb compared to how superb everything else looks.

I know it's probably hard to make a lightening effect look good though, so it's not a major issue or something that will annoy me...

My point is that it's a low effort hyperbolic shit statement.

Which would have been fine, but it is preceded with calling out other posters what they debate when it comes to graphics.

There is no consensus on what makes a game have "the best graphics." To pretend that there is seems absurd.

Lmao. As someone who spends a fair amount of time in London, I can confirm it is exactly like this.

Game LOOKS great btw. But that was never in doubt. Wonder what RaD have come up with to make it as interesting as possible.

Does it really matter which game looks better?

We all agree both games looks stunning and are currently held up as the standard for what both consoles can achieve. Why not just leave it there and focus on the actual thread topic...

Does anyone know how long the campaign is?

I haven't seen any estimates mentioned, but I've haven't been following too closely so as not to spoil anything.

As it's SP only, I'm hoping it's a really meaty campaign similar to Wolfenstein. Some replay value would also be nice. Like NG+ or something along of those lines.

Have a dig around - im pretty certain there's a clip of Isabeau disintegrating someone in a haze of blood.

innit. Whenever i see movie trailers with reactions i automatically assume said movie is complete shit. Safe to say i did not have a positive reaction to this Order trailer.

I came into this thread to write this

It's a rule a film critic in the UK called mark kermode stands by that if a film trailer contains audience reaction it's normally a bad film

Edit: I really hope this isn't a bad game I'm really excited for it regards of the trailer

If you like really simple regen health cover based shooters, I'm sure it will hit the right notes for you.

I've played both and I think Ryse looks a bit better. But this game definitely takes the cake on that department.

Infamous is open world and still manages to have a better frame-rate while also running at a higher res. Now factor in all the crazy effects the game throws around and it's pretty easy to see which is more impressive technically.
The Order looks fantastic but again a direct comparison with Infamous isn't really fair.

If you trust shinobi, he said that the lengh is akin to Drake's Fortune's. Lengths vary, but if I had to guess, I'd say the average must be somewhere around 8-10 hours long.

That's more or less what Uncharted 1 took me anyway.

I'm sorry, I'm actually interested in this game, but this trailer unabashedly calls us morons.

Buy our shit. Look at all these dudebros fawning over teh graphix. This dude has never traveled the world just like you so you can believe him. Pre-order now and get an identical looking worthless character skin. Preorder exclusively at Gameeeespooot to get something we nixed out of the game for everyone else. Pre-order now don't wait for the critical reviews to form your opinion buy our shit without knowing whether it's good we're cool.

Will wait for the reviews on this one. But I feel that co-op should be in this game as it would work very well (Gears style).

Give it a rest, its a new IP and they are 'new' to bring their first big AAA IP, RAD are trying to get noticed, so why not show what they have.

They could of shown more but I guess it would be showing spoilers to a story type game.

All devs and pubs want preorders, what they offered is not exactly 'big' and annoying like some (content)

Its a good looking cover shooter, there are many that enjoy that genre, just calling them dudebros is just reflecting bad on you.

I think that's a real sleight (actually no, you saying 'objectively', makes you just wrong - it's not a sleight) against the frankly amazing technology behind Infamous.

Both games did small things the other didn't but the majority of notable graphical effects are demonstrated in both their games (and made note of in their GDC presentations) - they employ very similar solutions. Not even taking into account resolution, framerate or data streaming (linear vs open world).

The only thing I can say Infamous doesn't hold a candle to Ryse on is probably art density, by that I mean there is a lot more 'set dressing' in Ryse. And that is entirely an open-world versus linear world issue.

Man, that's pretty harsh.

I do agree in the general sense that the trailer is trying to sell the idea of pre-ordering without actually waiting to see if the final product is any good and is trying to use some internet celebrities to try and give that idea some weight, but let's not forget it is a brand new IP and for better or worse, they are sticking to the plan of not showing too much before release, so this is probably the only way to try and build some hype prior to release.

After all, it's not like they can throw up quotes from publications with the thrashing it's received from so many of them, so why not get gamers/internet celebrities to try and do what quotes from publications usually do.

Ok, I was goinna cancel my pre-order due to budgeting issues but after watching this i'm back to being hyped for Day 1.

Kermode is right about movies that have adverts with audience reactions to bulk them out and build up the hype being unreservedly shit. Hopefully this does not apply to games
