If Magikarp used splash against Cole, Cole would die.
IT WAS SUPER EFFECTIVE..!!
How strong did you feel playing as him? The final boss poses zero challenge with the Fierce Deity mask.

He transcends his own medium and everyone on the planet knows who he is. He can do anything, be anything. Truley a frightening amount of power
Asura (base version) vs Bayonetta would be incredible.

Secret character in SFV.

Who is the most powerful character you feel you've ever played?
I think there are two ways of defining powerful. One is mechanically, as in the abilities that you have as a character. So, for example, if you put in a God Mode cheat, the game acts like you are a normal guy, but your actually indestructible. The other is narratively, where the story says you are so and so powerful. An example is Arcaeus, the God Pokemon. Narratively, it's god, but in game it's just an ordinary (if powerful) pokemon and can only learn 4 moves and can be at a type disadvantage and be defeated by a pokemon of higher levels and such.
So....
Mechanically, I think Bayonetta may be the most powerful. It doesn't show as clearly because the enemies around her are also extremely powerful and can lay down the hurt on a player that isn't using Bayo to her utmost...but when they are, Bayonetta is basically unstoppable. She can dodge any attack and not have her combo's interrupted via Dodge Offset which theoretically means no enemy can do anything against her, has a lot of crazy and strong weapons, commands a host of extremely powerful demons, can turn into a variety of animals to gain different abilities, and seems is able to navigate any kind of environment without protection. Bayonetta is one of my favorite games because playing as her, I feel more powerful than I do any other game character (When I'm doing well anyway).
Narratively...uh...nothing comes to mind, actually, strangely enough. Or rather, a few characters do, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Will edit when I think of something.
Jep, Dante is up there

dude can punch with enough force to break a planet in half, and can inhale any object/creature of any size and steal their abilities.
kratos? ha! Kirby would destroy him in seconds.
The ~ key.
I am going to be different yet accurate and say Vergil from DmC.
Dante in DmC is already absurdly powerful but Vergil takes it to a whole new level of OPness. Vergil in DmC is more powerful than Vergil in DMC3 as well.
There are 3 main reasons why I feel Vergil in DmC is over powered as hell:
*Ability to cancel any action into his Trick dodge. This is not possible for Dante in any DMC game and is only really possible in a game like Bayonetta (and that with a specific limitation where there's a CD after dodging a few times in a row). Vergil has no such restriction.
*His Summoned Sword attack is 0 frame. That means that he can do it while doing other actions completely uninterrupted. Vergil in DMC3 had this also.
*Vergil Devil Bringer equivalents are also 0 frame. He can pull enemies or Teleport himself to enemies without interrupting his actions. He can be attacking the air and then during the slashes he can pull an enemy into the slashes as he feels.
*Vergil in DmC has a ton of really powerful charged attackes that do massive damage, have great AOE range and can juggle heavy enemies.
*Vergil has his DT gauge give access to both Spiral Swords (a very powerful tool) and Doppelganger, a highly complex toolset that allows him to essentially play with two copies of himself. The copy mimics your action but you can change its delay and change its stances in DmC DE now.
*Vergil can transfer control from himself to his Doppelganger using a charge partition trick (very advance trick). This allowz the player to control the Doppelganger clone while Vergil himself is in a charged state for Judgment Cut/Perfect Slice. Being able to play as an invincible character for a short time is no joke.
*Super Vergil is an absolute monster.
I honestly believe that Vergil's potential as a character has not been tapped yet and will not be tapped until DmC DE is released. To show that I am not kidding... a small sample of his play:

What...?
I agree with Kratos, though.
Dante would also be up there, as many Final Fantasy characters (See Noctis deflecting Titan's foot, for example).
Most powerful player character can be interpreted in multiple ways. Why has noone mentioned MMO player characters? Asura? Pfft.
Back in the day when I was playing WoW me and my crew went and defeated orcs, dragons, Qiraji, giants, spirits, big bad wolves, spiders, undead, demon lords, old gods, trolls, Illidan and the Lich King. Only to name a few, of course, as the list would become too long if I listed all of our achievements.
With a few healers and some good dps we could take on Asura as well for the lulz.
In regards to the dodging, Jeanne doesn't evne carry that penalty. I wonder of Jeanne could be considered more powerful, since her wicked weaves are stronger and she can dodge indefinitely. Her witch time activation is tricker, but on NSIC there is no witch time anyway, so...
I want to see the sample play you seem to have forgotten to add in though. Do you think Vergil will be imbalanced against his enemies, or will they roid them up appropriately?
It's funny though. In the story, he's explicitely said to be weaker than dante. Usually, it's the other way around.
Kirby is weird because you never really see these feats of strength. Besides that, I'd still say Asura would win. Even if you kill him, he simply has to climb out of hell (...and this means a delay of no more than) and he's alive and fully regenerated again.hours to him by endgame
And the finale of Asuras wrath is the most absurd scale fights in all of video games, so he has that going for him.
I posted the video afterwards.
Vergil is insanely over powered (and thus imbalanced) for the enemies he is up against, more so than even Vergil in DMC3.
But the over poweredness of Vergil in DmC actually makes him a fun character to play around with. Even within his OPness and limited toolset there is a lot to explore.
The added difficulty modifiers of Vergil and the additional tweaking of his toolset would make it more fruitful to explore his options in the Definitive edition.
Also it's not that Vergil can cancel anything into dodges but it's that he also has a bunch of 0 frame moves and abilities. Think of it like Nero from DMC4 and that there's a specific animation for pulling in enemies... not the case with DmC Vergil he pulls enemies in MID combo as his ability to pull in enemy is 0 frame. .
You see him punching the planet in half during a minigame.
In the last 3ds game he basicaly turns into a black hole and sucks everything even to the point ofbreaking the 4th wall with the power of sucking
Talion from Mordor. He can't die.
