I don't think I've ever seen a non-Greenlight developer use the Update section to actually interact with customers.

Additional content1 should be up... It appears to be a setting behind Steam. We will have to ask someone at Steam to fix this first thing tomorrow morning. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you could hold off until around 10am PST we should be able to have Additional content1 up again.

Regarding Steam Trading Cards, it is going through Steam's approval process, so as soon as it is approved we will release them.

Hello, we have just implemented a fix for the DLC. It appears to be working on our computer, but could you please let us know if it's working on everyone else's? Thank you for all the help.
Considering IFI are California based I wonder how long everyone stayed up.

At least they're really trying and communitcating, which is already a big improvement compared to other devs/pubs. I expect that most things should be fixed soon.

In this image I manually set the config file (Neptune.ini) to 1600x900. It seems like it might still be getting used for fullscreen resolution in some way. I tried setting it to 1080 but it kept reverting itself.

Could someone try setting the ini to read only and changing the resolution?

Patch seems to have sorted out the DLC at least, only other issue I was having was the codec thing which I sorted via turning off avi as an input in LAV Splitter. I wonder how/why some people seem to be getting "true" 1080p?

Could someone try setting the ini to read only and changing the resolution?

Doesnt seem to have any effect, game still shows 1600x900 even though the ini reads 1920x1080, same in both windowed and fullscreen

I've just realised that I can double dip on this to get the DLC I missed out on because I imported the USA version.

Good news everyone!

I don't have the game yet (I'm still unsure if I should triple-dip :p) so I can't help much but hearing this game is OpenGL the not launching thing made me remember Brink (shudder), what graphics card do you have? Apparently some older AMD cards are stubborn with OpenGL like my 4850 back then, I'm trying to remember what I did back then so Brink would launch...

Also, I'm still getting that ".dll is missing" when I try to run the exe from the folder, even though I installed that distributable. Still weird.

Ah alright nVidia is better with OpenGL stuff, what .dll is it? Also did you install the x86 or x64 version of the redistributable? Even with 64bit Windows you most of the time need the x86 version unless the game itself has a 64bit executable. If all else fails I could upload a copy of the missing .dll for you, if you place it directly in the games folder it should find it.

Installed the 64-bit version since I have a 64-bit OS. If you could upload it, that'd help, but I can't test it until I get back home later this afternoon.

That will most likely be it then, go ahead and install the x86 version as I assume Neptunia is x86. Maybe some else can confirm, the game should show up as Neptunia.exe*32 in the Task Manager if it is. And alright I can still upload it just in case, just PM me the .dll's name or post it here when you're home and I'll see what I can do :)

Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Even as a software developer, should've tried that. :p

Ehee yeah that is a bit confusing, I also always wondered why Microsoft won't consolidate their Visual Runtimes somehow, I have more than 10 different versions installed ranging from 2005-2013 with different x86 and x64 versions :p

Does GeDoSaTo work with this game? I had it enabled, did some tweak but in game I couldn't see much of a difference. There seems to be something weird with the way the game renders stuff because a lot of things look very nice and clean (like the 2D animu art) but some other UI and random textures around look extremely washed out.

The recent patch has disabled two of the DLC packs I had. Guess I need to wait for another fix...

Yeah, thing is, I built this PC late last year, so it probably doesn't have a lot of the files that my old PC had! But I'll post an update when I can later today.

Sadly, no. Game renders in OpenGL,so GeDoSaTo won't hook onto it.

For a few people, including me, rendering at above 900p doesn't seem to be an issue. I just set the game to fullscreen, and it seems to be running natively at 1080p, no artifacts from upscaling visible.

Anyone else using the keyboard an mouse controls? I'm surprised at how they did it, with how all of the button prompts can just be clicked on to do stuff.
Yeah,a guy posted this on the forum and it looks like native 1080p to me.
Not sure what to think now.
Hey, that's my picture! :D

From what was mentioned earlier in the thread the game runs on OpenGL, I'm not up to date on GeDoSaTo but unless something changed it doesn't work on OpenGL games so it's no surprise you saw no difference :/

EDIT: Beaten

Okay alright I hope it will work this time! :) Now I almost feel obligated to buy the Steam release even though I have the PS3 original and the Vita release, for tech support reasons and for general support of JRPGs on Steam. Maybe if I can offset the 4€ with some Trading card sales so I can just grab a 10€ prepaid card for Nep instead of a 20€ one :p

I saw Durante popped in this thread so who knows if someone already lit the signal and something may be coming? I hope so, we can't let the dream of 4k Nep-Nep die!

I'm glad the game runs effortlessly, which should be expected since this was based on a portable console. Now, back to the one issue I had, if they could fix the DLC situation...

Ahhh, now that makes sense. Thought the game was 15 bucks but it was ridiculously overpriced over here, but at $30 it's actually pretty fucking cheap.

Yeah I also find 15$/14€ to be a great price for the first week! On that note, does anyone know if Steam sells 15€ prepaid cards in Europe?

Pretty disappointed at the port, if it's your only way to play I'd still say it's worth $15 solely because of the content of the game, but honestly 900p is the last of the game's visual problems--most 2D assets (which are very prominent) are no better than the vita version in quality. And many 3D models have weird staticy shadows around them (look around the Dogoos' eyes). The 60 FPS and being on TV (AHEM PSTV? OKAY SORRY FOR ASKING) are the only real benefits here. Kinda sad they don't even offer PS button options. I'd compliment it for being fullscreen windowed, but cutscenes play on the main monitor even if you move the fullscreen window, it also crashed during one of the cutscenes like that--not sure why exactly.

900p when they promised "1080p" specifically is pretty sad though. IFI is pretty amature, sad they moved away from NISA. When I saw that I figured it was just because my display is natively 1080p so for windowed res they go one lower so the window isn't too big (which would still be stupid). But no they mean it.

Overall, it's not terrible, but the Vita version is a much less frustrating experience, and aside from 3D the PC version looks like it's not going to look better anyway, and that's if they fix the weirdness with the shaders/whatever is causing the halo effect. Could have used much more time in the oven, hopefully they fix it all before Rebirth 2.

Ehh, I agree with it being a mediocre but I don't agree with your conclusion at all. It's another case where even a mediocre port is better than the console version. 60 FPS is great and 900p is still higher than the Vita's 960x544 (PSTV renders at 544 too btw so it looks even blurrier on your TV than the PC version, yes I'm one of the 10 people that own one).

Looks like they added vcredist and dxredist to Steam this morning, hopefully that helps some people crashing on boot.

I'd be willing to support this completely because I want more Japanese developers to take Steam seriously... but I blew my gaming budget on Atelier Ayesha on vita <_< Maybe next month.

Alright so the first battle with
Arfoire that you're forced to lose.
I can't get past it due to the constant crashes.

Definitely gotta wait for the next patch now.

Not trying to be condescending but after the patch I noticed that it had turned off some of my DLC, you can double check by going to the game in Steam, right clicking, selecting properties, going to the DLC tab and double checking theyre all ticked (also it seems you have to go to each free DLC's page and it download in steam as it doesnt work for some people when you select all the DLC from the games main page)

Wow, I was really excited to play this game, but my PC definitely won't be able to run this. I was expecting system requirements similar to the Agarest games. :\ guess I'll pick up the Vita version when it goes on sale.

It's ok, not really being condescending. My page says "Purchase req." for Additional content 1 and 2 but I own both. (I own all DLC, I double checked and it's all "In library" as well. I'm checking the forums and it seems other people also have this issue so I'm sure it'll be fixed. Perhaps a reinstall may fix this as well and since the game is not that heavy I may do that.

Dig through the thread a page or two back. There were people reporting running this just fine at well below the listed specs, so if your machine isn't substantially worse than their's, you might be fine.

Since I'm new to the series, should I pickup the DLC?

The extra characters are good, but not required. For 50 cents each, might as well grab them. The extra content is mostly post game stuff for if you really like the combat.

Does it add dialog and story or is it just being able to have them in your party?

Peashy and Plutia are not in the story at all. Histoire is, but the fact that she will be in your party doesn't affect anything.

Plutia is op, best healer and her EXE does crazy damage. Histoire is kind of a waste since you can't use her until endgame. Peashy is strong for single attacks, that's about it. Having Plutia and Peashy will make your party much stronger during some parts of the game.

The second, disappointingly. You just click an event in a city and they join your part. No dialogue, no explanation, no anything. Well, for two of them at least. Histoire is in the base game with dialogue and everything, the DLC just lets her join the party. No new dialogue for her, but it at least doesn't feel as weird.

They are all fun and unique characters with their own broad selection of weapons, items, outfits, attacks, etc, so they aren't pointless, they just don't get integrated into the story.

they also kill the difficulty of the game, which is already pretty easy :p

I'll be honest, I gave Plutia a try somewhere in the Chapter 2-4 area and was unimpressed compared to how many comments I saw about how great of a healer she is. Maybe later on she's better, but I recall having some SP issues in boss fights due to her only having big, expensive heals. She wasn't bad, but she hardly felt like some amazing, game breaking alternative to Compa.

If, like the rest of the combat, her special attacks haven't changed since Victory then Plutia is probably still completely and utterly broken. Nothing in Victory ever seemed to resist magic attacks so she'd rip through bosses like they were tissue paper with damage cap break in play.

Don't expect her to outclass Compa in terms of healing though, her primary focus is clearly combat.

YES

Somebody in the steam community mentioned that changing the windows compatibility can prevent crashes.

Switched to XP Service Pack 3 and was able to get past the busted fight.

hmmm if I'm rebuying this, ill probably get the dlc. didn't mess with that for vita, so its a good excuse as any.

might finally play the jp track too (although the dub is easily my favorite of any anime moe moe game)

Oh that reminds me, I'm disappointed they didn't translate "I'm a Kangaroo" from the JP line like they did in Victory I believe. :(

I enjoyed jumping around and hearing that.
