I'm so glad I watched that thing live. Getting hyped and freaking out alongside everyone else is the most fun I've had in ages. Last years stream was the same, although I didn't have an account here at the time.By the way, here's the reactions in the GAF thread when the P5 trailer was revealed at the concert.
I can't really imagine she'd be the only girl.
I bet Atlus will prevent waifu wars this time around by having only 1 female character.
Then, if Atlus USA has to localize P4D and P5, then a Q1 2016 release in the West makes sense. I don't think this comes put to North American shores in 9 months.
Last I heard he's working on some new IP called Deviliser or something?
The gender split is already even since Morgana is most likely female.

Morgana is the cat? Well, there's the female in the fox mask, who I think is probably a different character than the cat. Maybe I'm just hoping that because I would prefer to have a larger party to choose from than just four.
Those are amazing. The first looks a bit Bayonetta inspired with those razor heels ha. IMO Kaneko is the best character designer there is, period. So creative in his designs, but still elegant even when grotesque. I've always felt he might be influenced by Erté.
I don't know. I think Kaneko's demon/persona designs are great, but his humans not so much. I totally prefer Soejima's designs there.
A cat is fine tooWe're going to date a cat?
Edit: bottoms cut:
We don't really see enough to confirm the one with the fox/tanuki getup is female.
We're going to date a cat?
Going by their usual pattern, I expect at least four, likely three in the active party and one support (not counting the cat in that, of course). Other than there being precedent for it, this is also a factor.I bet Atlus will prevent waifu wars this time around by having only 1 female character.
You talk like Atlus doesn't benefit from it at all.
I'm sure there's a lot of Persona 4 girls/waifus merchandise in Japan.

That's how I feel, as well.

This is also true. It would be somewhat cynical to view it as being just about supplying new "waifus".It's not just about 'waifus'; obviously there's a large segment of the Persona fanbase who are female.
Since they haven't bothered giving him a canonical name as of yet (much like they didn't bother at first for either Makoto or Yu), I'd say so.Here's a Q: Think they'll stick to voiced lines only on major cutscenes, that way you can retain naming the protagonist?

Naming is confirmed by the menus, isn't it?

90% chance that's a female character.
We are when she suddenly becomes a super sexy brunette halfway through the game!
This is going to happen isn't it....
60%, at best. Baggy clothes look blatantly baggy. Nothing else but that bagginess shows any resemblance to female forms.

While I think that its likely a female character, I agree with you. Seems like the clothes were intentionally made baggy.
Will she still try to stay in his bag?

And I'm done.
Very nice
I wouldn't. The Persona games try to stay completely disconnected from each other aside from minor cameos even if they take place in the same universe. Save that for the spinoffs.I would be quite surprised to not at least see a cameo from Naoto in this one, if P5 is indeed the same universe as 3 & 4. She's a Persona-using detective for Christ sake
Eh? That hasn't stopped them before, hasn't it? They just replace the name with "him" or something.
Of course. Teddie couldn't stay a stuffed bear forever. He had to become a pretty husbando. Morgana must become a waifu due to Persona logic. It is known.
It highly depends on the game/setting/atmosphere, to me. Like, Persona 4 would be weird with Kaneko designs, as much as Nocturne would be with Soejima designs. I didn't intent to have the two compete since I like both.

I'd be fine with Kaneko-designed demons, and have Soejima do the characters.
Actually, I think Soejima did a great job with Catherine's characters. Maybe he's just improving over time. I do like Persona 5's characters quite a bit, even though they're a bit more on the anime side.
That's true, his designs are really fitting for Nocturne.
I think my main problem is not his character design per se, but rather his official artwork, because they all look kinda dead and have these creepy eyes.
E.g. Lisa has a great design and looks awesome ingame, but what's up with her official artworks?

The same with Maya, who looks like a zombie in the official artwork, but great ingame:[/QUOTE]
Heh, I must admit I really like that artwork. They are just in a 'neutral' state in them. I get where you're coming from, though. They don't really evoke the same character as you know them from ingame.
But I like both of them, ingame and 'official.' Guess that's just a pretty subjective thing.

They even went out of the way to establish the whole Leader/Vice Leader thing in Persona Q. Atlus will dance around saying a main characters name to the ends of the earth.
I still can't get over how dumb "Vice Leader" sounded in game, sheesh.
I think Kaneko only did the concept designs. Someone else did the in-game portraits IIRC, which is why they look so different.
I'd be fine with Kaneko-designed demons, and have Soejima do the characters.
