By the way, here's the reactions in the GAF thread when the P5 trailer was revealed at the concert.
I'm so glad I watched that thing live. Getting hyped and freaking out alongside everyone else is the most fun I've had in ages. Last years stream was the same, although I didn't have an account here at the time.

I just need to find out if the MC's gonna keep his trap shut or not and then I can go full on media blackout. I'm hoping we find this out on Tuesday.

Then, if Atlus USA has to localize P4D and P5, then a Q1 2016 release in the West makes sense. I don't think this comes put to North American shores in 9 months.

Going by the latest Persona releases, I see no obvious reason for P5 not coming out in 2015 inEurope other than them actually localizing it for once, which I don't really expect.

I stated earlier in the thread that I'm eager to see how Atlus will treat Europe on this one; this is by far their biggest release ever (independently of the final quality of the product), so I think it'll show if they want to get serious with PAL regions or not.

Last I heard he's working on some new IP called Deviliser or something?

Eh, really?
Will have to follow that.

A bit off topic, but maybe someone here will know: I know for a fact there are several Kaneko artbooks that came out in Japan. Anyone knows where I could grab one? Google didn't help.

That'd be awesome. Remember how great those Maken X designs were but the game was kinda garbage? I hope this doesn't happen with this new IP so we'll have a new great game designed primarily by Kazuma Kaneko.

Those are amazing. The first looks a bit Bayonetta inspired with those razor heels ha. IMO Kaneko is the best character designer there is, period. So creative in his designs, but still elegant even when grotesque. I've always felt he might be influenced by Erté.

The stylization of the menus is amazing. Simply amazing.

Persona 5 is one of those games I look forward too even though I won't be able to play it when it comes out. Time to get a PS4, I guess.

The gender split is already even since Morgana is most likely female.

Morgana is the cat? Well, there's the female in the fox mask, who I think is probably a different character than the cat. Maybe I'm just hoping that because I would prefer to have a larger party to choose from than just four.

We don't really see enough to confirm the one with the fox/tanuki getup is female.

I don't know. I think Kaneko's demon/persona designs are great, but his humans not so much. I totally prefer Soejima's designs there.

Any chance I could get one of MC with the HP/SP removed? Pleeeeease? :D

I bet Atlus will prevent waifu wars this time around by having only 1 female character.
Going by their usual pattern, I expect at least four, likely three in the active party and one support (not counting the cat in that, of course). Other than there being precedent for it, this is also a factor.
You talk like Atlus doesn't benefit from it at all.
I'm sure there's a lot of Persona 4 girls/waifus merchandise in Japan.

That's how I feel, as well.

It highly depends on the game/setting/atmosphere, to me. Like, Persona 4 would be weird with Kaneko designs, as much as Nocturne would be with Soejima designs. I didn't intent to have the two compete since I like both.

It's not just about 'waifus'; obviously there's a large segment of the Persona fanbase who are female.

This is also true. It would be somewhat cynical to view it as being just about supplying new "waifus".
Here's a Q: Think they'll stick to voiced lines only on major cutscenes, that way you can retain naming the protagonist?
Since they haven't bothered giving him a canonical name as of yet (much like they didn't bother at first for either Makoto or Yu), I'd say so.

Ade there going to be costumes/clothes that change the appearance of the characters or is that just going to be the armor, you think? Seems like the costumes in P4G were popular.

60%, at best. Baggy clothes look blatantly baggy. Nothing else but that bagginess shows any resemblance to female forms.

While I think that its likely a female character, I agree with you. Seems like the clothes were intentionally made baggy.

We are when she suddenly becomes a super sexy brunette halfway through the game!

Will she still try to stay in his bag?

I would be quite surprised to not at least see a cameo from Naoto in this one, if P5 is indeed the same universe as 3 & 4. She's a Persona-using detective for Christ sake

I wouldn't. The Persona games try to stay completely disconnected from each other aside from minor cameos even if they take place in the same universe. Save that for the spinoffs.

I'd be fine with Kaneko-designed demons, and have Soejima do the characters.

Actually, I think Soejima did a great job with Catherine's characters. Maybe he's just improving over time. I do like Persona 5's characters quite a bit, even though they're a bit more on the anime side.

"Lead the way, Senpai!"

They even went out of the way to establish the whole Leader/Vice Leader thing in Persona Q. Atlus will dance around saying a main characters name to the ends of the earth.

I still can't get over how dumb "Vice Leader" sounded in game, sheesh.

Are there any black horse characters in 4 that are popular despite being in minor roles, like Chihiro?

All I can think is Funky Student.

That's true, his designs are really fitting for Nocturne.

I think my main problem is not his character design per se, but rather his official artwork, because they all look kinda dead and have these creepy eyes.

E.g. Lisa has a great design and looks awesome ingame, but what's up with her official artworks?

The same with Maya, who looks like a zombie in the official artwork, but great ingame:

Oh, sorry. Should've specified I was talking about the human characters, since that was what the first post was talking about. Otherwise I agree with you, Kaneko absolutely kills it with his demon designs.

Heh, I must admit I really like that artwork. They are just in a 'neutral' state in them. I get where you're coming from, though. They don't really evoke the same character as you know them from ingame.

But I like both of them, ingame and 'official.' Guess that's just a pretty subjective thing.

I think Kaneko only did the concept designs. Someone else did the in-game portraits IIRC, which is why they look so different.

Sure, but there will still be minor students in school who will use your name, as well as the interface itself, right?

wish he'd keep himself in check a bit when he's drawing necks, tho,
