No, his estimate sounds about right... assuming you eventually use auto-battle, which I dunno how you wouldn't after a while.

Hm, well I did estimate the minimum at 70 hours, but still. I guess it might have been a lot because Persona 3 was my first Megaten game, but The Journey took me 100 hours.

I don't think it's the best idea to push golden onto every newcomer. For some people 60 hrs. just to see the plot conclude is a difficult enough investment. Having extra 15~ hrs. that's inessential to the plot wouldn't be appealing to everyone (plus vanilla already has some extra content at the end.)

Double plus you can't forget P4G is missing Chie's real VA :)

My complete P4G playthrough was about the same as all my P4 playthroughs in length and I played it on the harder difficulties. Yes, there's more stuff in P4G (although some of it is optional), but you also have to remember that it speeds up annoying stuff - shorter load times, the ability to fast-forward through scenes (a godsend if you die on a boss or choose the wrong dialogue selection), the ability to respawn at the beginning of a floor if you wipe out, and the ability to directly chose abilities to inherit when fusing persona (instead of endlessly cancel/selecting in hopes that you get the combo you want). Also, they generally made the game a little easier than before (although there's harder difficulties if you want a challenge). If anything P4G is the most welcoming of all the Persona games.

I go through the text quickly, don't do much grinding, ignore fishing, and don't worry about trying to max out every S-Link which might explain why I think the games are about 60 hours or so and not the 80+ that some people are saying.

Yep. Doesn't make sense to imply anything else.

Holy crap...and the story manages to stay engaging for that long? Super impressive...

I desperately wanted another 80 hours when I beat Persona 4. Like, I was incredibly sad that the game was over and felt like I could have gone for a round two. So much so I did a New Game+ playthrough then and there straight after beating Persona 4.

I just checked HowLongToBeat on P4G. Look at the difference between regular playthroughs and completionist ones, it almost doubles from ~70h to ~134h. There's a lot you can do apart from just moving from day to day, dungeon to dungeon.

Honestly, to really 100% Persona 4, you pretty much had to do a new game + (since getting all the social links in your first run is really only possible if you follow a guide to the letter and handle everything perfectly), so I think that might be a big part of the difference

All are also available on PS3 and PS Vita

PS2... P3 and P4 might be viable options if you can find copies
PS3... All games except the first Persona and the first Persona 2 game are available
PS4... No options as of now.

PS Vita does have everything available

Motherfucker, all I got is a Wii U right now.

I'm a newcomer to the series. The game looks really cool, but I don't see how the trailer can change your opinion of the awful ass logo.

Because the logo is fantastic and, finally put into context with the game's setting and mood with this trailer, gives it meaning that wasn't fully clear before?

I think I might have played P4G a little too much then...

This is my last save right before fighting Margaret.[/QUOTE]

Nice! I just checked my saves since I was curious, it took me 69hrs and 29min to play P4G from start to finish. I haven't replayed it or anything, Persona 3 Portable on the other hand, I have around 120hrs since I did 2 playthroughs.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Is it just me who hopes they have more guitar riffs in the soundtrack? I loved that shit in Nocturne, and this trailer just reminds me of that soundtrack so bad

I think I'm slightly above 200h as well, since NG+ just continues from the same counter. I'd check, but I have a game suspended on the Vita with no save point in sight so I can't boot P4G right now.

My P4 Golden file is 90 hours. Note that I did some end game grinding to try and get a deck of Ultimate Personas, which didn't work very well this time.

I'd tell you how long my one in-game week from completion P3P file is, but my PSP is dead and I can't find the charger. Was about 100 something hours last I remember. Same grinding session happened there too.

Edit: Found the charger, 115 hours.

This is my last save right before fighting Margaret.

I had 123 hours. I got a bad ending and accidentally saved over my game with the clear file, I didn't even realise I missed out on so much until I went online. Pretty much started a second playthrough instantly. Followed a guide the second time round for getting as much done as possible but that's still two play troughs. Also got 100% Persona Compendium but not all Skill Cards

FeMC isn't canon, Marie sucking is.

It is! P3 does have a wierd lull around the 75% mark where you're doing a few Social Links and the main dungeon, but P4 fills in lulls in gameplay with story and vice versa.

I wonder if the rumor system from P2 will be brought back. Rumors unlocking side missions would be kinda cool.

"I hear a guy in Shinjuku has a rare weapon collection."
-> Shinjuku condo heist unlocked.

I can't check my P3 (FES) saves ATM but I think I have around 75-80 hours on the main game (The Journey) plus 27 more (I remember how long it took me) on The Answer.
Only did one playtrough though, Elizabeth is too strong ><

Why isn't this game available for preorder yet? The game is coming out this year and clearly everyone, including myself, is hyped.

It wouldn't make sense for something so core to the story of that game to return.

I wish they'd axe the Ps3 version and just make it Ps4 exclusive, pour all of their resources into that one.

This isn't some huge budget game where cross-gen development is holding the quality of the current generation version back, so that would be entirely pointless and massively impact the success of the game.

I swear to christ the Ron Paul "It's happening!" gif erupted into a wall in my mind, as I watched this glorious trailer.

Holy shit, best trailer the video game industry has seen in a very, very long time. I am so excited.

Long live Atlus!

then that begs the question of how much of a difference there will even be between the Ps3 and Ps4 versions of the game.

Actually, now that you mention it, I don't really know. I just assumed it's been 30 FPS for a while

i've never played a persona game (I'll definitely be picking up 5), but I'm sure 60fps will be a welcoming new added feature to the series. (if they even do it that is) if it's never been that before.

Persona 4 on psn is 10 bucks. If you buy Golden and a playstation tv without waiting for a sale it's nine-twelve times that price

Maybe he should play 3 first, and if he gets into it he can go all out on persona 4 golden

P4G is on sale for $20 for like half the year.
