So the PS3 SNK ports are done by M2? I might pick up KoF94 then. I always skipped out on them because i just assumed they would be half ass ports.

well the costumes are worth $15 so its still nice, and you cant go wrong supporting atelier.

Yes all of the Neo Geo Station games are by M2, the PSP versions are for the most part quite good but for whatever reason Metal Slug 2 does NOT have the option to improve its performance like the PS3 ver. does....

Someone sell me on League Bowling does the PSP ver. suffer from any slowdowns, etc.? Dare I get Baseball Stars too....

Metal Slug 2 (aka. Metal Slug X beta version) is pretty bad and nobody should play it instead of Metal Slug X.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Okay, how about the PSP KOF collection? I've been wanting a good four-button fighter on my Vita for a while now, and KOF98 is about as good as it gets.

It is 1 GB, though.
I think the performance of it was passable? I asked about it a long ass time ago though...

It didn't sync. Because Sony shut off the cross-save servers on Monday due to overload from too many people playing Rogue Legacy.

Great foresight there, Sony.

The server techs may not even have known RL implemented some sort of auto-cross sync, so could never throw up a red flag.

Do you like Crossy Road? Do you want to play Crossy Road on your PS Vita? Well, guess what? You can't, but you can play a clone on PlayStation Mobile called Animals: Cross the line!

I'm kind of sad that I live in a world where a Frogger clone is called a 'Crossy Road' clone. I've never even heard of 'Crossy Road' before. But watching some gameplay, it's Frogger.

I know Crossy Road is clearly "inspired" by Frogger, but that PSM game is clearly "inspired" by Crossy Road and not the original.

Gamasutra.
Any impressions of what's new in Stardust Ultra? Ehh it's $10 with the discount I guess I should just get it...
I got nothing yet, but as soon as I get off work...
... and make dinner ...
... and put kids to bed ...
... and get back to some work emails ...
... I'm sure to try to find the time to buy it.

*grumble grumble*

Operation Abyss livestream in a few hours

I don't usually watch these but.. on the fence for this game so this will hopefully tell me if I'd like it or not.

I'll try to watch it during class, I just have to see if it'll be some english footage.

So I am here at home fiddling my thumbs waiting for Friday to come, which is when the n3DS drops. I have a ton of games that I could play but I can't bring myself to play any of them. Anyone go through the same as me? Not feeling like playing what you have because "shiny X thing" is coming out soon?

Metal Slug Collection for $10 is tempting. Anyone have any impressions on it, specifically on Vita?

Anthology's a must-have, go-to game to have on your Vita imo. Get Anthology. The standalone versions of 1 & 2 on PSP are crippled with slowdown, with no way to address it. The PS3 versions may be fine, but not the PSP ones.

We've had this conversation on here multiple times in past Vita/PSN threads, where people say "that's the way the games were originally"... yeah, accurate slowdown emulation is cool if you're a museum curator.

Mine comes tomorrow. Long overdue purchase.

Hope it doesn't get sent to the wrong town again. I'm amazed I managed to avoid spoilers for both games this long. My only regret is I should have bought 1 physical instead of digital, but it was only $20 vs $30+ this way and I was foolishly on the fence

I get this constantly regardless of shiny new thing honestly, I'm just generally bad at "motivating" myself even when in theoy playing should require no motivating, right?

Get Anthology and not the slowdown stricken standalone versions of 1 & 2 on PSP. You're getting the same thing, but better, and way more for your money.

Isn't SNK porting Metal Slug games to the Vita and PS4 natively?

All I know of is 3, which is likely only happening because it got a Steam release. With as long as that's taken, if they even have plans to do any of the other Metal Slug games, it will probably take years, with PSN versions on lower priority and Vita on the lowest.

I'd kill for a native Anthology for Vita
and a physical release

If there's something that I learned with Destiny is that games can really get to a point that they will consume me. Thinking back, the 4-5 months that I spent playing that game... A game as short as that, 20 missions, couple strikes and the raids? Good lord, I fear for my life when I get MH, a game beefed up with content, on Friday LOL. Also can't wait to try Majora, I didn't play it as a kid because I was too scared of how weird it looked lmfao.

This motivation thing comes down to whether I have been looking forward to playing that game for a while, whether it was just a spontaneous buy, etc. So yes, sometimes I do have trouble motivating myself to play what I think are great games, two recent examples come to mind: Dragon Age Inquisition, I eventually just stopped playing, game is amazing, Persona Q, I love Persona to death, and I couldn't finish the game, still have like a quarter of it or more to go. Then one day out of nowhere, I will feel like playing them again, and I will. Happens all the time with Diablo 3 lol.

Re: Demon Gaze

Turns out I was confused about adding a 4th character, you have to rent a new room, not "register". And it's 5k gold, crap. Gonna have to continue with 3 chars for a while.

I'm... completely stuck at this game right now. I don't get it, I must be doing something wrong because everyone always talks about the game being supposedly pretty easy?? Every boss I can currently face right now just slaughters me while I can barely damage it (all my attacks do like 1-3 damage). How the fuck am I supposed to advance?! It's getting extremely frustrating!!!

Is it because I have to grind money until I have a 5 character party? There's got to be something I'm missing but I have no idea what it is.

Please advise! Seriously thinking about just giving up on the game.

Take your time, get your party full and grind on the seals for better equipment. Don't rush, DRPGs aren't meant to be rushed.

Didn't know about the healing staff. Why does the game never mention how important it is?!

How am I supposed to know when to fight a boss? Trial and error?

If you go for 100% on every floor, fighting all enemies that show up, chances are you won't have to grind that much for the boss fight. There is a strategy behind the battles though, trial and error will only get you so far.

Kind of, or look at a guide that tells you the recommended level for attempting. Also since some seals actually summon bosses early, if you get killed then you need to either grind or create a strategy for beating them.

That google doc is amazing.

When you can roll over everything in the area you can beat the boss. Before then it takes a bit of strategy. Kind of hard to give a real time.

I'm pretty sure I did all circles in Red City and yet I still can't win the final battle against Mars. It feels as though my party is not strong enough, all my attacks do nearly no damage to her.

I think I remember Mars actually being relatively difficult due to lack of skills. You might try going back to the inn, zoning to City and clearing all circles with gems, and repeat until you have better gear and levels.

Is it just unrealistic to expect to beat her with 3 characters?

Oh, I'm sure. My point was more that it made me sad that more people would likely understand your 'crossy road' reference rather than 'frogger' nowadays. I wasn't finding fault with your comparison itself, I'm sure it's accurate.

As much as I -love- resogun, it'll be the same when people start calling that genre 'like Resogun' rather than 'like Defender', or 'like Buggy Bug McBug' [made up] rather than 'like Centipede'.

Don't give up. You should definitely be doing more than the limited damage you're talking about. I beat the game too long ago to give any strategy, but I don't remember it being particularly difficult. Grabbing the extra characters will certainly help.

Generally speaking, bosses in this genre can be beat if you explore everything 100% before getting to them, doing all battles. This doesn't mean you should be able to easily kill them, however -- best case, this will also require proper use of tactics/strategy dependent on game -- for example, proper elemental attacks against weaknesses (x10 for SMT games) or proper use of the demon gazing mechanic in Demon Gaze. If you ever get to the point where you're beating bosses without even trying you probably grinded way too much.

Obviously, not ever game is well balanced but I don't remember struggling with any bosses in DG... maybe the first one before I had a Paladin? But after that, not really. Though there were nice challenges throughout, I just never felt like I needed to grind.
