Most Boring Game You've Played/Completed Recently

Uncharted 2.

The first Uncharted game I played. Expected greatness considering its extreme popularity and this being the best one according to most. But I just don't get it. Maybe it was more impressive when it first came out due to its graphics and production levels, but the actual gameplay was dreadfully dull. It further reinforces my opinion that Sony tends to make a fair amount of technically fantastic, yet boring as shit first party games.

The Wolf Among Us. Didn't like the world and the story was a snoozefest. I had high expectations of it too as people said it's better than TWD S2 (which I love) but nothing in it grabbed me.

Transistor.

Just didn't click for me. Story and combat just wasn't doing anything for me. Forced myself to play or an hour or two and just gave up.

I just played through the Master Chief Collection, and I must say, Halo 4 was pretty damn boring. Really lame storyline and uninspired gameplay at times.

I am going to get a lot of hate for this, but I just finished the first disk of Final Fantasy 9, and I am not necessarily bored with it, just underwhelmed. Even with the interesting characters, the plot and the scenarios so far just feels so simple.

I like the game well-enough though, so I'll keep going.

Aww man, that hurts to hear. I loved absolutely everything about that universe.

But alas, to each their own.

Last game I've played recently where I was bored throughout my playthrough was probably Infamous: Second Son. It's been a while since I played it, but no other games recently bored/disappointed me like I:SS. Usually I try to research a game enough before I make the big purchase, so most times I don't end up being bored with the games I buy. I thought I:SS would be as good as the first two Infamous games, but I was wrong :(

Been playing Infamous Second Son (and will probably finish it because I don't have many other PS4 games yet) and everything about it feels really uninspired and rote, except some of the movement stuff. Delsin is also the biggest douchebag I've ever had the displeasure of playing as, even with good karma...even the GTAV protags come off as less horrible in a lot of ways.

Ys:Memories of Celceta, kept getting told it was a must have for vita. I finally picked it up, forced myself to play through it and 100% the map and none of it was worth it. Probably one of the most bog-standard jrpgs out.

Shadow of Mordor was definitely hurt by not having enough variety in the gameplay. I still had fun with it though, just couldn't bring myself to finish it.

OP actually asked for boring games we've played or completed recently. I'm pretty sure the vast majority here didn't completed the game they answered with (I know I didn't). What a strange assumption. Unless I missed something?

Several people mention spending 50-70 hours on a boring game. Some beat them. Some are actually replaying them. I don't understand why.

I am playing Dual Destinies right now on my iPad. Re-played all the previous Phoenix Wright games in order to get ready for the new one. So far, I've been a little disappointed (almost completed the second case). Everything feels so limited, and the first two cases drag out quite a bit. Not bad, but just not as interesting as the original games, in my opinion.

Watch_Dogs.

I had more fun playing the NVZN AR game than the actual missions. In fact, out of the 8 hours I put into Watch_Dogs before giving up on it, I'm fairly certain 50% of my play time was with NVZN. They should have just made NVZN as a standalone game. I'd buy that for sure.

I buy games on PC where I can't return them or sell them if they suck. Because of that when I buy a new-release game that bores me to tears, I push through it to justify my wasted money. Or maybe the game is pretty fun until a certain amount of hours in and the honeymoon period blows over.

I beat Leon's campaign in RE6. It was okay, not amazing or anything. I kind of dread having to beat the other 6 campaigns, hence I'm already looking for a co-op buddy so I can lessen the amount of time spent playing the game.

Star Fox Adventures - I kept hoping that it would actually become a game at some point. It was pretty for a Gamecube game though.

EDIT: Somehow missed the word "recently" in the title. What counts as recent?

In terms of story and characters, it would be Ys: Memories of Celceta. The gameplay is quite good (I had not played a Ys game since Ark of Napishtim).

DA : I
I didn't even put in a full hour... Was bored 30 minutes into the game. Didn't undertsand all the hype.

That's not even fair. With a game that requires quite a bit of time put into it, 30 minutes won't provide nearly enough exposure to make a decision. 30 minutes is not even into the first main area yet!

I echo the Last of Us. Had to force myself to finish it. Had really simple gameplay and wasn't a challenge even in grounded (played grounded for 2 hours and realized that man, this doesn't make it better). Nothing was remotely enticing in regards to the gameplay. I was actually frustrated by the stupidity of the enemy AI. The story itself, which i knew nothing about other than it involved fungi zombies and that it was praised, was a huge let down. It was pretty generic and predictable. An awful cobblepot of better stories. Didn't care for any of the characters and everything was trying way too hard to make us connect with them. I wanted Ellie to freaking just disappear and Joel's "internal struggle" was handled so piss poor. The ending was entirely predictable and had no impact to the journey. Nothing changed. At the end, everything was as if it begun. Ellie didn't trust joel in the beginning and she fully doesn't trust joel at the end. joel is still a selfish prick. I understand what the writers were trying to do, showing the depravity and desperate disgusting behavior of humanity; that we are monsters and that some of us won't change or should be saved. But it was handled so poorly and in such a cartoonish way that I just didn't care for that message. This is all my opinion of course

I am sorry but you have a really shitty opinion. This is all my opinion of course.

I suppose once he gets a few more hours into the game and quits then you'll tell him the game gets so much better when you get out of the Hinterlands right? Or after Skyhold? Run far FAR away Doberu!

Project X Zone...didn't beat it but I did get to mission 30-something. Whoever decided more enemies > enemy placement was a huge masochist. Those levels were getting close to an hour to complete each, or at least it felt that way.

I really wanted to like that game too.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

I really enjoyed AC and loved ACII; after enjoying Brotherhood, but starting to get burnt out from the series, I took a break from them.

The new setting of Black Flag really enticed me, and got me to jump back into the series. My first several hours were very enjoyable, I loved the setting and the ship mechanics. I was never really invested in the story, and after awhile repetition and tedium started to set in. I slogged through the rest of the game for what to me seemed like forever, not really enjoying the time I was spending doing it. After picking it up as a day one title for Xbox One, I didn't end up beating it till mid-summer 2014.

I have nothing against Ubisoft personally, and I still think fondly of the early AC games, but I can't see myself ever buying an AC game again.

Let's see, most recently it's been both Alphadia Genesis and Cthulhu Saves the World. I finished the former because I need to review it, but simply put, it's a Kemco RPG, so I didn't expect much more. I went about two hours into Cthulhu, but I wasn't feeling it; I'll probably still finish it, as I'm about halfway through the game and the breakneck pace keeps it from being a complete slog.

It's interesting how much consensus there is on which games in this thread are perceived as boring.

Bravely Default - I'm about 50% of the way through it, and I'm not really excited to play it. The battles are fairly fun, but an interesting story would have helped a lot.

League of Legends/Dota 2: I'm only a beginner at moba's but they always seem to start the same way for the first 20-30 minutes, and then there is about 5-10 minutes of excitement. I just can't devote that much time to so much repetition that becomes boring quickly. I'm sure that at elite levels the first 20-30 minutes are unique and captivating each time though.
